Description

N'tash is the easy kind of handsome, quick to attract and make use of any attention he gets. His tousled blonde hair is combed back and parted on the side, carelessly styled. With classically handsome features, he's very wholesome in appearance, charismatic in a way that makes it hard to stay mad at him for long. His eyes are blue, bright and inquisitive, and his lips are full and usually pulled into a disarming smile. At a lean 6'2, rider training has put some weight on his bones, but not so much that he'll ever be classified as bulky.

Common Knowledge

  • He impressed from Nemekhath's leadership flight clutch.
  • He broke his wrist jumping off his dragon early in weyrlinghood.
  • He nearly flamed A'idan's face off but got his arm instead.
  • He's done dozens of crazy things that labeled him as the class clown.
  • He's responsible for the deaths of two clutchmates during their first threadfall.
  • He had his rank knocked all the way back down junior weyrlinghood, forced to repeat his training with the upcoming clutch at Southern.
  • He finally graduated and was tapped into Ocelot wing.
  • Mostly he tries to keep his head down and stay out of trouble, but it takes very little to nudge him into the middle of a mess.

History

Noatash grew up in Ista Hold, in the middle of six siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. His four younger siblings are all close in age, and he was neither old enough to help care for them much nor young enough to receive much attention. The family had a long history of involvement with the Seacraft, and all of the boys were expected to apprentice there. While Noatash didn't mind scrambling over the rigging and doing the hard work and adventurous exploring of sailing, he found the long hours being surrounded by nothing but water tedious.

His father got him a berth aboard a ship headed for the Southern Continent, promising that once he worked his way south, he could explore and find adventure to his heart's content. Shortly after arriving, he was stuck around due to tales of pirates and Southern Weyr dragons terrorizing ships. He thought at first he might want to find some pirates and join their crew (hey, treasure and adventure!), but then he came down with firehead. His recovery from illness was slow, but once he was well enough to begin looking for another ship to work aboard, he was snapped up by a Southern Weyr rider to stand for Nemekhath and Raxsonath's clutch.

As a candidate, Noatash had a reputation for goofing off and talking too much. Among his class, he was either liked as an entertaining jokester or disliked as the guy who either brought down punishment on the group or made everyone help clean up his messes. None of the riders or Weyr staff thought he would amount to anything, and it was to everyone's surprise that he Impressed one of the clutch's only 2 bronzes.

Maybe it was the Shiny. Or maybe it was that he felt that he no longer had to be on good behavior. But after the hatching, N'tash slid into an attitude of scraping by in lessons and assignments. While he always took excellent care of his bronze Enzoth, the two spent all their free time sneaking off to places where they weren't supposed to be or recklessly grandstanding for the attention of anyone to see.

When he broke his wrist trying to do a backflip-dismount on the lesson for first mounted ride, it was apparent to all the WLM staff that he was an idiot. But when his carelessness caused the deaths of two clutchmates in their first Threadfall, the resentment of everyone in the clutch, including his friends, fell upon him. His initial attempts to brush off the horrible accident were met with such fury, WLM staff had to separate him out from the others. Then the decision came to demote him back down to junior weyrling, forcing him to repeat every lesson with the next weyrling class.

Somehow, N'tash completed his second weyrlinghood, and the lessons have definitely been learned. On his off time, he still gets into plenty of trouble, but he tries to remain focused when he's on duty, especially when it comes to Threadfall.
