Description

Every now and again, there comes a man who makes looking absolutely rake thin somehow attractive. Audric happens to be one of those; he's all long of limb with a whipcord build to his body. But it works, and while he's quite slender, he's also tall with an elegant build to his frame. His face has a vaguely avian appearance, what with the prominent bridge of his nose and just slightly weak chin. But his eyes are anything but beady, instead they're often quite wide and lively, a deep shade of brown. In fact that life extends to everything about him, a mobile and expressive face as well as a mouth that's quick to smile (or pull down in consternation). Long and nimble fingers frequently rake through and tussle his already messy hair.

Little attention is paid to his clothes, much like everything else about his appearance. He frequently sports a five o'clock shadow and it's not unusual for his shirt or jacket to be a touch wrinkled. This man isn't completely unkempt, in fact it all just seems to pull together and work. This is who Audric is, a bit quirky, a bit messy but lively and awake. He's also wearing a Journeyman's knot.

Common Knowledge

Audric is a card carrying member of nowtimer Pern. He’s the son of a particularly ambitious Master Miner, one that plans on being “the” Master when the current one retires (or dies, whichever comes first). This of course has resulted in his son often being dragged along in his plots and mechanisms to achieve his future glory.

Bright and frankly talented in regards to their craft, Audric excelled as an apprentice and found himself walking the tables a turn or so earlier than his peers. He has a particular love of mining precious jewels and in turn, designing and creating intricate pieces of jewelry. However, his overbearing and over-involved father put a halt to that particular life long dream. He wanted a son that could represent his interests in the craft and his interests across Pern at large. So instead of shiny baubles, he’s had to dedicate a large portion of his journeymanship to the study of geology, particularly where deposits of firestone are known to run across Pern.

When a vein was unexpectedly discovered down at Southern’s Ice Fields, his father needed to have eyes and ears down there. Using his influence, he pushed to have his son shuffled down to “observe”, protect the crafts interests and to possibly discover evidence of other deposits nearby. Being of a generally friendly nature, Audric catches people who were expecting someone more snooty off guard. Questions about him abound, does he really back his father’s plays to become Craftmaster? Will he undermine the interests of the Ice Fields to further craft agenda? Is he a backwards conservative nowtimer like his father? When push comes to shove, can he break free of the shackles that bind him? All this and more on “How the Crafters Turn” or something else that sounds like a soap opera rip off.
