Description

Bradach is the epitome of strapping - tall, toned, strong-featured with an intense gaze. Thick dark brown hair kept no longer than his nape matches the shade of low, level brows and the constant layer of stubble coating a square jaw, broad chin and upper lip. The perfect cupid’s-bow of his mouth is given mainly to small smiles and smirks; his mirth is most often in his eyes, resulting in the subtle crinkle of crow’s feet at the outside corners. His nose is skewed slightly to the right but is otherwise straight and sound - broken long ago but reset well. He stands confident and strong, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice and just as capable of standing still and silent, a man of action as well as observation.

In terms of personality, everything Bradach does seems understated. He's never had many close friends, and only when he lets someone close does he let anyone see the layers and the passion beneath. He does have a sense of humor, which some have found surprising until they get used to hearing and seeing it. He is quiet and somewhat reserved, and in his pensive moments one might be able to discern a bit of the pain of his past in his eyes. While disciplined and serious about his work, he isn't above having a little fun every now and then. It's just usually on his own terms.

  • He's a new father! Casobet gave birth to their son, Asher, near the end of the 11th Turn of the Pass.
  • Bradach and Casobet were married at the beginning of Spring in the 10th Turn of the Pass.
  • He walks softly (mostly) and carries a big stick. And a small stick, usually.
  • He wears a Sergeant's knot.
  • He's been frequently spotted at the beach, but seems to prefer keeping a healthy distance from the water's edge.

Relationships

Name Position Relationship Thoughts
Casobet Journeywoman (Farmcraft) Wife "She's so much more than what she believes about herself. So much more underneath. What she shows me of herself when we're alone is…amazing. I definitely didn't see her coming, but now I can't imagine her not being in my arms."

History

Bradach hails from Lemos Hold. He has no memory of his biological parents and was fostered from the start. Only when he was nine did he finally find a settled home with a kindly widowed Weaver journeywoman in her thirties named Laerise. There was no father figure in his life to speak of, though the closest came in the form of Lemos’ resident woodcrafter, Senior Journeyman Nabil. The father of one of Bradach’s closest friends, Nabil recognized the boy’s restlessness as he edged into teen-hood and decided to offer him lessons in carpentry before Bradach took it into his head to spend his pent-up energy in less desirable ways.

Bradach was a natural and spent his free time under Nabil’s wing for three Turns…and then tragedy struck. Laerise went on a trip with a trader caravan bound for Southern Boll to visit the Weavercraft Hall with some of her work. The wagons were beset by renegades going through a steep pass in the Central Range. While trying to fend off one of the raiders, she was shoved away, slid over the edge of the road, and fell to her death on the rocks below.

Bradach was devastated. Thankfully, he was staying with Nabil at the time. When the fifteen-Turn-old Bradach made vows of vengeance, the Woodcrafter did all he could to convince him that trying to hunt down Laerise's murderer wouldn’t work and that seeking justice did not have to go hand in hand with becoming a killer. Adding to that the fact that it would not have been what Laerise wanted for him, Bradach relented. Once winter was over, however, he set out for High Reaches and began training as a guard.

Fifteen Turns later, Bradach has made his peace (as far as he can tell) with his foster mother’s death. He is a skilled guardsman, honed in both mind and body; aside from constant and rigorous physical training, he is Harper-trained in the handling of legal matters. While he returned to Lemos as a guard when he was twenty-six, he eventually decided to move on again. Not having much experience at Weyrs and craving a change of pace, he requested a posting at Southern Weyr…which of course has dealt with its share of crime. It should keep him plenty occupied as he learns to adapt to an entirely different part of Pern.
