Description

Blessed with the snubbed cherubic curves of the eternally youthful, this is a face that won't distinguish itself from the generically handsome for a number of turns yet. Instead his grey eyes are unfairly lined with a dense thicket of dark lashes, his nose delicately balanced, and his lips curled with masterpieces perfection. Warm mid-brown hair falls in artful disarray occasionally accompanied by a lazy morning's stubble. He stands on the shorter side of average, but his wiry muscle mass is sculpted accordingly, so it isn't so much of a flaw but rather a feature. Hours spent outside have turned pale skin golden, and provides some masculine texture to his appearance.

Every masterpiece needs a blank canvas on which to shine - and Kymbolton is no different! Despite his natural good looks, he wears the almost-uniform of a stablehand: a loose undyed tunic, brown britches and sturdy boots. At some stage a thong was tied around one of his wrists, but judging by the way the leather has stretched and worn it has been long forgotten.

Kymbolton was born and raised in the bazaar, and while his early turns were not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, they were fairly typical for the time and place. His parents while usually around weren’t always there. So he learned how to scrounge and beg and anything else that would keep his belly from being empty. But every evening after a day surviving he would return to his family’s squat to take what comfort he could from his parents. And very occasionally he would linger close when harpers made their rounds in an attempt to try and educate the poor of the bazaar. His life was a predictable familiar struggle for turns, until after he was eleven and his mother succumbed to illness. His father drifted away without word shortly after, leaving Kymbolton truly alone.

Without parents, or even a stable squat (The prime space his parents carved out was quickly claimed by other unfortunates), it wasn’t long before Kymbolton fell in with the wrong types. Thievery was quickly added to his repertoire. And he did pretty well for himself for the following turns. However by the time he was 14, he had become cocky and over-confident – and was rather quickly caught by a pair of Parhelion riders. In the course of his arrest he did strike one of the riders and instead of a slap on his wrist for his petty theivery, he was sentenced to three turns in the mines.

He quickly learned that things can always get worse! So he hunkered down to survive his sentence as best he could, actively avoiding attention from guards and fellow inmates alike. This new survival technique combined with the impact of the lessons learned in his formative early manhood have combined to create a rather pessimistic, and quiet young man. Upon his return to Igen, the only place he could go because it was the only place he did know. He talked his way into the stables and is doing his very best not to let people know that he doesn’t have the faintest clue about the care of runners. He is also equally determined to prove that he is a good man underneath the weight of his circumstances, devoted to his redemption rather than the temptation of falling into his old ways.
