Description

This woman stands just shy of 5'5 tall, slender and delicate looking. Thick, deep brown hair is parted loosely on the left side, and falls to her mid-back in heavy waves when not contained in a single braid. Dark black lashes rim soft green eyes which sit just below gently arched brows. Her nose is slender, the tip slightly upturned. Lush lips, coloured a gentle pink, are settled just above a dainty chin.

She is wearing a simple pale blue dress, cut to skim her form without drawing undue attention. Belted at the waist with an off-white apron tucked into the leather belt, the hem of the material just brushes her ankles.

History

The oldest child of two Weavers, Mrayya grew up with four younger siblings – three brothers and a sister. Her parents are Nowtimers, but of a rather moderate variety, as those in the Weaver Hall tend to be.

While her parents were often busy with their craft, Mrayya was all too happy to take on many of the chores at home. With four younger siblings, including three brothers, scraped knees and elbows, banged heads and other small day to day injuries were commonplace for Mrayya to deal with. Her youngest brother had a penchant for bringing home injured animals he found (small creatures, like a bird with an injured wing, or a dog with a scraped paw), and begging Mrayya to help them. A gentle word and a small cloth bandage was often enough to satisfy her brother, and help the animal; really, though, it was just an excuse to practice for when the next sibling cut themselves while roughhousing.

Never once did Mrayya show the slightest interest in any of the weaver specialties, to her parents chagrin. Still, with her sister being old enough to take over much of what Mrayya had done at home, at 12, she apprenticed into the Healers craft, her natural empathy being channeled into ‘something useful’.

Her apprenticeship was, by most accounts, uneventful. Mrayya wasn’t the sort to cause a ruckus by breaking rules; she studied hard and worked to further her instincts with knowledge, progressing through the ranks pretty well right on schedule. At 19, she became a Junior Journeyman, and recently was transferred to the Southern Weyr to help flesh out the ranks of healers there. There is some talk that it won’t be too long before she’s ready to try for the next rank within the Hall.
