Description

Already tall and sleekly muscled, incipient adulthood has begun to add a third factor into the equation: a certain androgynous elegance. Tuli's height is her most immediately recognizable feature: she stands a hair over 5'11", long limbed and long torso'd, and easily surpasses six feet when factoring in her exuberant puff of close-spiraled black curls . The femininity in her build is subtle, found less in the chest (minimalist, to put it mildly) and more in the waist and hips, though even those are narrow-formed. Compared to the rest of her, her face is almost comically feminine: a delicate oval with a shallow chin and broad features, complete with big brown eyes. She has a reddish-brown complexion, roughened from weather and work. A childhood soprano has settled into a high contralto, tinged in its edges with a soft accent that marks her as a strayed native of the Southern Continent.

Though her attire varies by weather and occasion, the goldrider is ultimately a woman of narrow tastes. Invariably her clothing has a faintly military edge to it, all crisp lines and clean angles: what softer feminine touches she indulges in are subtle and unobtrusive, and never allowed to outweigh functionality. Autumn colors reign supreme, especially rich oranges and muted tans. Rarely a wearer of skirts, whatever the Nowtimer scruples may be, her long legs are generally wrapped in well-tailored trousers instead, with elegant - but flat-heeled - boots. A single piece of consistent jewelry makes a regular appearance: a macrame bracelet in green and brown, a little worn from persistent use.

Common Knowledge

  • Formerly a Farmcraft Senior Apprentice, Tuli first came to High Reaches in the aftermath of a plague, brought along to help the Weyr survive a famine.
  • A one-time individualist who has since become a team player, Tuli approaches belonging to the group with a convert's fervor.
  • In the Good Cop/Bad Cop dynamic of Sadaiya and Tuli, Tuli is emphatically the Bad Cop, and shows all signs of enjoying it. She is a force with which to be reckoned.
  • Tuli is a cusser. Seriously, all the fucking time.
  • Tuli is very fond of children, and has made mention of taking up fostering once she's settled a little more into her job.
  • She is missing a toe on her right foot. And yes, this is common knowledge: she has zero conniptions about walking around in sandals, or barefoot.

History

The offspring of an irresponsible brownrider and the holder girl he (accidentally) knocked up, infant Tulivie was swiftly deposited at Oldtime Southern Weyr, to be fostered by Hortesa, then an assistant headwoman. The 'vie' in her name lasted only until the girl was old enough to speak her preferences: it was ever-after a plain and simple 'Tuli'. Largely allowed to run wild, she grew up a strong-willed but self-centered child, proudly independent and hot-tempered.

After an unsuccessful and uninteresting candidacy on the Southern sands, the girl took herself off to join the Farmcraft, intrigued by the opportunity to spend her life digging in the dirt and bossing holders (two things she very much enjoyed). Stationed at a small sub-hall, the girl took to her new Craft like a ring to a bell — though she took to getting along with her fellow Crafters rather less spectacularly. Despite this, one of the Journeymen, Olimer, took a fancy to her, adopting her as his particular apprentice. When he was posted to High Reaches Weyr during their post-plague famine, Tuli begrudgingly accompanied him.

Turns passed: Tuli began to grow up. The process was sped along when she was Searched for Talicanitath's clutch, ushered into a candidacy that proved equally traumatizing (largely through her own errors) and beneficial, and then finalized when she found a lifemate on the Sands. Golden Elicheritath was not what Tuli had ever envisioned in her future, yet her existence brought the world into a very different sort of focus.

Tuli's life as a Reaches junior was suddenly and precipitously turned upside-down when their vanished Senior, Rhaeyn, unexpectedly reappeared from Between, bringing grim tidings and strange riders with her. Quick to accept the truth of their words, but slower to develop any fondness for the foreigners, the young goldrider was amongst those to migrate forward, resettling in the strange new world of late 11th Interval Igen Weyr.
