Naomi's Cosmic Fusion Dwarf Brown Aionedyth

Naomi! You are a rare breed indeed, and it is with a great deal of pleasure that we welcome you into this small group. You have taken a piece of our hearts, and we give you a little of ours in your Aionedyth.

~ N'tael & Il'ian

Melancholy Moon Egg

An egg of cool colors, small, and isolated. It sits off by itself, half turned away, as though a great sadness weighed upon its occupant. Patches of darkness lend the look of a pock-marked surface, if one were to look close, and a faint exquisite blue and silver limns its greater pearlescent white. If one were given to lend emotion to the egg, it seems to prefer to be alone… but with a secret wish for warmth.

Egg Inspiration

"The Moon. Cold and distant, alone and lifeless… yet, it's the Earth's celestial companion, reflecting light to pierce the pitch black night. So when a character is shown moon gazing, it means he or she shares many of these lunar traits: they are isolated and introspective, melancholy… yet oddly hopeful. All this just by having them look quietly at the moon, or using it as a big old backdrop.

"He or she may have a Tragic Dream, have suffered a Dark and Troubled Past, or have embarked on some new quest that promises to change their life. The trope is also frequently used in love songs." — TVTropes

Hatching Message

Melancholy Moon Egg sits patiently, waiting while others about it crack, fall to pieces, and release their inner creations. It will hatch in it's own time, and at its own pace. When the time comes, it does not crack like the others. Instead it shivers slowly, then faster, creating an inward vibration that is impossible to match with the visible eye. Hollow of that which gives it form, the egg dissolves abruptly into a shower of egg-made sand, cascading about the small creature within as it raises it's head to view without.

Naomi's Cosmic Fusion Dwarf Brown Aionedyth

Cosmic disarray lies at the epicenter of distorted lines: radiant ochre collides with sepia and flows outward from the star-birth breastplate centered in his chest. Every where the light touches, constellations form pinpricks of galactic freckles as star-strewn burnt sienna deepens into taupe whilst inky frost of abyssal darkness cloaks his feet in obscurity. Across the vast expanse of his wings lie hazy nebula, clouding thin sails with their secrets and dusting stars across void-tipped wingspars. A collection of many shapes collide in a big bang, transforming the formless into the formed: over-sized and undersized are emergent principles set against the brown dwarf woven of mostly wing and tail orbiting the explosive sun settled brilliant across his heart. Each joint is limned in faint starlight, accentuating stocky rock-like shapes of shimmering bistre, mimicking crushed asteroids pock'd in shadows of deepest umber. Black, blacker, blackest: frigid chill of between collects in the blue-frost spade-shaped tip of his tail, whilst the eyes hold the endless cosmos of the ancient entities, forceful in nature with every confident step of a creature as difficult to pin down as the night sky itself.

Public Impression Pose

Cosmic Fusion Drawf Brown Dragonet knows he's on the right pathway now. Gracefully he weaves through the group about him, avoiding touching any despite how some of them clump together. The squeaks from those around his target get eyed momentarily, eyes a whirl of blue among his stardusted hide. No, he wants someone with a little composure, like this brown (to match him) haired, brown eyed (also matching), soon to not be a trader who he slows as he approaches then stops. He allows the sand to settle about himself before taking the final step to claim that which was always his, even if she didn't quite know it until just now.

Private Impression Message

Airless space surrounds your mind, plunging you into what can only be the depth of darkness. But wait, no, there is more than just darkness about you, and while there is no air, really… there is no need of air. You float, weightless, formless, as pinpricks of light grow and spread about you until you wonder how you ever could have seen nothing but darkness here. It is beauty to take your breath away, until a voice reaches out to place you and only you at the center of this living and growing universe. « Naomi, I am your Aionedyth. It has been written in the stars that we are to be together, and to take upon us the mortal coil. Come, let us grow. » The stars do not pull away, for they will always be there now, a refuge of eternity just for you.

Clutch Theme Inspiration/Dragonet Tie-In

You asked us for something powerful, perhaps a force of nature of some kind. As we started digging through the tropes and ideas surrounding them, Il'ian came across an entry named Cosmic Entity. This screamed the kind of force that you asked us for. Aionedyth is not quite, well:

1.jpg

That, but he is a force to be reckoned with.

We threw in some other touches to give this Cosmic Entity some depth, for example, pieces of his mindvoice harken back to those forces of nature you asked us for. We needed some more animal-like touches too, so in the description and physicalities we threw in touches of a seahorse, one of the absolute masters of its realm of existence.

Description Inspiration

First and foremost, your Aionedyth was inspired by this singular image that set such a tone for the whole of his description as we wanted to give you something cosmic and forceful as you asked for, but without trending towards tornadoes and fire. He is more than terrestrial elements. Aionedyth is of wormholes and black holes, of the death and birth of stars. He is the universe hewn of cosmic rock.

2.jpg

The endless expanse of star-filled space, with pinpricks of light and nebular edgings across his body. Yet, he could not be one thing, for he is as vast as the universe, but he is also as eclectic as the universe. So he is a collection of shapes: rocks and planets bounded by the infinite.

3.jpg

As with all life within space, it starts somewhere and Aionedyth's genesis is in the explosion of a star's birth that lies across the center of his chest. From there, light spills outward to light the abyssal darkness of nothingness that forms our universe. Clouded with nebula, he is both light and shadow, able to exist within the dark sides of the moon as well as to stand in the full force of a sun's light.

4.jpg

Some color exists within him: edged along his tail is the frosted blue of frigid space, an ode to the lack of heat that exists in the airless voice. Aionedyth's color palette very much lies within these hues: golden browns, deeper browns, and the touch of frosty blues set against the inky darkness of space itself.

5.jpg

Name Inspiration

We knew we wanted to do something COSMIC for your boy, but we didn't know what. We toyed with lightning and other natural forces, but there is nothing bigger than the cosmos when it comes to forces of nature. So we researched thermonuclear dynamics and nebula and even went so far as to pull names of the greats (Galileo, Newton) but nothing felt quite right until we stumbled upon dark matter.

Dark Matter is an interesting force and there are two kinds of dark matter. Baryonic and Non-Baryonic. We went with Baryonic as a start, and ultimately ended up with Aionedyth, which came from us putting together several versions of Baryonic, Axion and MACHOS, or Massive Compact Halo Objects.

Another thing to note that we found super interesting is that his dragonet name comes from this idea of a Brown Dwarf. So here you have it, Naomi! Your Cosmic Fusion Dwarf Brown Aionedyth!

Mindvoice

Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.

— A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

Can you hear that silence, Naomi? The awe inspiring silence of nothingness that fills your heart and lungs to near bursting? That is at once wholesome and aching? As if the bond of a close friend has come and gone again and all of the tragedy of loss is stitched back up into perfection?

That is the glimmer’d stardust of your Aeonedyth - in the first seconds of birth. Expansive, growing; his is the birthright of glory and expansion, of the vastness of the space outside the planet Pern. Never will you want of the stars, Naomi, for he is writ into them forevermore, as you are.

With each word he gives, the glitter of stardust streams across the vastness of space, settling into the strange lands of strange places, put together of the building blocks of cosmic dust.

6.jpg

« Naomi. » Glitter dances across the endless emptiness of space. Slowly, color forms into heartbreaking clouds of space dust and the crushed rock that drifts in zero gravity. They drift, in this emptiness, flowing with his thoughts. « That dragon looks like he’s about to spew his thick-tail. You’d better move… like NOW! » Comedy rides the solar winds that leap out from the shining star that orbits these beautiful nebula of his mind voice. « Or not. Whups. »

His is a strange humor, Naomi, edged in awe inspiring colors and settled in the vastness of space, but it is a force of nature, nonetheless. For you have all of the worlds at your hands, and sometimes he shuffles them like cards or folding screens.

7.jpg

Today, drifts the massive planets ringed in pink rings.

Tomorrow, the scenery shifts and it is the green gas giants that he draws inspiration from.

He weaves from the stars, Naomi, into the words that form within the link between you. And to you, he yields his command center. To you, he breaks the overwhelming silence of deep space, where only the faint light of twinkling stars linger to provide depth to the endless black.

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.

— Aldous Huxley

8.jpg

His command center, Naomi, is where you and he connect the most. Lines drawn outward from the stars in hyperspace connect to every point of your body. To him, he visualizes you as a complex creation of space: a constellation of stars wherein your soul is forever written and saved into the very atomic elements of the night sky.

This is the place that he brings you when you are at your lowest or when you need him the most. It is a place nestled deep within the mindlink that you can feel each and every emotion that flows through his airless void and he can, in turn, take all of your woes and fears and anxieties and leave you with the caress of cool starlight. You connect to him the most here.

Worlds are woven of the stars; rings framing their rocky forms in concentric constellation light. « Come, Naomi, peace be with you. » It is here, amidst the strange and mechanical devices woven of the stars that you can see past the hurt of getting passed over, that you can see beyond the rejection of love - until you see only Aionedyth and the stars set against a velveteen night sky. « See? Nothing is bad if we are together. » And you do see it. In the control panel of the largest window to Aionedyth's glistening, stardust soul. You do see that forevermore, your life is made better and whole by your lives twining together for the rest of eternity.

You are his, Naomi, and he wants as close of a bond to you as possible. In order to protect you, he needs to know all about what's going on inside your head. Inside your heart. He wants to feel what you feel, and walk the same path (however unlikely) that you do, so that he can be the gravitational pull to bring you back to center when your life ricochets into the chaotic. This means, of course, that he will so keenly feel every thought that flies through your head and it will be replayed over and over until he understands it.

« Why did you get all hot and tingly when you saw that male? »

“Uh…”

« Why did you try not to let gas get expelled from your butt? »

“Aionedyth!”

This will become habit, so you’d better be ready for it! You will have to face your own thoughts as well as his, for he will examine everything until you explain it. Or until, much like the universe, he expands outward and consumes all in the black hole of forgetfulness.

9.jpg

“Sometimes in my tent, late at night, I think I can hear the stars scraping against the sky.”

— Rick Yancey, the 5th Wave

And then… for those quiet times… there is the emptiness of space. A place filled the cold twinkling of the stars that somehow instills both fright and comfort. The silence is so absolute, you think you can hear the stars scraping against the void of space, you'll realize just how expansive and deep Aionedyth truly iis. There are thoughts of his that you might never come to know, just as worlds die and are reborn from the ashes of their creation. Yet, comfort because for all of that, you have finally found a safe place to come home too.

Forever, will he hold you within this chilling, empty embrace and you will feel more loved and wanted than you possibly could have ever hoped to be.

The most difficult part of Aionedyth will be when he attempts to connect to others. It is not that he is an aloof dragon, it is that the sheer size of his mind voice is such that he must use elements of the natural world, like black holes and wormholes to connect.

10.jpg

Space opens up behind, vast and crushing, sheltered from obliterating his connection a green of his clutch by the wormhole that sucks in the link, manifested as a ship to navigate the uncharted reaches of his star-filled depths. « You shouldn’t stand there. » His caution drifts along the star-dust glitter that swirl with each word. « The last dragon that sat there got - » An abrupt shift, the turquoise wormhole changes shape into one of awe-inspiring hues of azure as momentum is powered forward. « - oh hey, was that a vtol? »

11.jpg

Movement; there is always movement to his speech with others as he draws them into himself. Further, and further, and further. Until they must be asked to leave when the conversation is over. He is careful - so careful - to not harm his clutch siblings. But as a baby?

He might forget the pod. (whups)

Or maybe he forgets and leaves them to drift in the ever-dark full of stars. (maybe a whups?)

Or maybe he’ll forget to say something all together, too caught up in the ride through space with his conversational buddy to actually employ words.

This might be frustrating at times.

But we’re confident you’ll be able to smooth over any weird reactions that may come of this.

Wormholes and black holes; they are the thought leaps as he shifts from topic to topic.

« DID YOU SEE THAT, THE SKY IS FALLING. I KNOW THE SKY IS - » A red ring of fire circles the gravitational force of a dying star, but see death is only the beginning for new life spawns from the ashes of what once was, and so a new thought emerges, pulled into this gravitational star: « I SMELL WHERRY. YES I DO. » Whatever dire concern once troubled him, the ever shifting dynamics of astrophysics has drifted it away and left a new thought in its place.

12.jpg

“Did that just happen?”

Yes, Naomi, yes. Your Aionedyth has an erraticness to his thoughts that stems entirely from the fact that everything in the universe is governed by laws, but with random factors that come to play. Here you will find that as the elements change around him, Aionedyth will utilize ever increasing visuals of awe-inspiring force to push his thoughts outward.

Will he always chase them down?

Perhaps not: he is as formless as space. And sometimes as empty: a sense of sending a thought out to the aether and not caring if it’s picked up. The more agitated he becomes, the more he’ll use colors and strange shapes strewn across the skies. From worm holes to black holes to cat’s eye nebula: all of space is at his disposal, Naomi.

13.jpg

Yet, for all that he is a force of nature, not everything that lives within Aionedyth is destructive or so colorful. Sometimes, he exists to be, within the quiet of the moment. When there is nothing but the stillness of space patterned in soft blue hues that fill your mindlink, especially when you are sad.

« My Naomi, » his voice is the scraping of the stars against forever; cool, crisp, perfect. « Do not leak water from your eyes. » A stillness envelopes you, caught in the ring of emptiness centered around his presence. « I am here. I am with you. Forever. »

14.jpg

And you’ll realize it’s true. This stillness, this vastness; it is forever. The stars are for you, Naomi, see how they shine. Feel the love that emanates from the great vale of space, with its lack of oxygen and its unyielding elemental force - and yet, it is gentle too.

Patterned in nebula that drift in the echoing chamber of silence that somehow comforts. And from this formless entity, your inner eye will have patterns to distract until you didn’t realize you’d stopped crying.

15.jpg

Or stopped worrying.

For this is how Aionedyth takes care of you, Naomi.

By writing your name into the very stars that drift like diamonds across the bone-shattering cold of space.

Physicalities

As expansive as he is mentally, Aionedyth is equally hard to pin down physically: from the moment his egg shell cracks open and out spills the star-laden brown dragonet, he will be an enigma. While yes, he is a force of nature, and the embodiment of power in most cases, he has this streak of fear - let's call this a healthy respect for life - that will be the foundation of his chicken little concerns.

If you were to break down his parts, you'd realize that his body is kind of short and squatty - kind of like the shattered nugget of a meteorite that's careened into the firmament of Pern to find you, Naomi. Yet, despite the relative short, stocky shape of his body, his wings and tail are long and graceful. They drape, see.

16.jpg

This will forever give him some sort of elegance to his stance that he otherwise wouldn't have, and it leaves him almost ghost-like in his movements. For he drifts, but he's so dense that each step is a thunderous applause to the fullness of his nature. That also means that he will have a tendency to crush anything in his path. He's kind of like a boulder of incredible power that doesn't stop, even when he hits into the resistance of obstacles in his path.

"Aionedyth! You just CRUSHED K'ra's…."

The cold, vast airlessness of the never-ending universe crowds into the mindlink, starlight brilliant as nebula unfold in beautiful, brilliant display. « I didn't crush anything. » Belief becomes the firmament of planets, the rock of asteroids, and the radioactive glow of meteors. « Or wait. » Thoughts crowd in as supernovas explode and create the sucking vortex of black holes. « NAOMI! I DID AND NOW MY FOOT IS GOING TO FALL OFF BECAUSE A SHARD GOT IN IT AND OMG… »

See, he has a kind of … complex about things going wrong or limbs rotting off because he's gotten a splinter and Oriahysciath told him that splinters can lead to rot and thus, the loss of a limb. So he will be fastidious about baths and cleanliness. Not to the point of insanity - you will get to enjoy life - but to the point where you will find those early days filled with bathing.

And oiling.

And more bathing.

« Naomi, I have a splinter. Please find it. »

"I can't see it, Aionedyth…"

« IT'S THERE I FEEL IT. LIKE A CRATER IN MY FOOT. »

So be prepared to find yourself hunting over his body for the slight scratch, splinter, and bruise. You'll have to soothe him that things aren't going to go badly. Yet, this constant worry is what allows him to barrel through life without fear. He uses all of his fear on himself, that when it comes to taking chances on the big things, he will always, always live life to its fullest.

As he grows, you'll realize that, physically, he's really easy to take care of. Grace exists in the rocks that he's made up of. His underbelly holds a faintly blue-shadow'd hue to it and is as smooth as silk. Surprisingly, his feet are also buttery soft, and despite the wear and tear of life, they will always be super soft.

17.jpg

His body, however, will weather with age, like rocks colliding in the airless vale of space. Aionedyth will hatch smoothe and then slowly build up the craggy surfaces of life into his very flesh. It's not painful, it's just a roughening, thickening of his hide. His shape will change subtly over time, but he will always have that slow, subtle grace of matter slow-drifting through space. The airlessness of the universe is evident in every dancer's move he executes.

18.jpg

In growth, he expands pretty evenly. His wings don't grow faster than his tail, nor does his body outgrow his wings. So with his relative easy growth, you won't spend a lot of time taking care of him, but you will spend an inordinate amount of time taking care of the world around him. The broken accoutrements of life, the apologies to your clutchmates, your wingmates, and whomever else you'll share your life with.

See, he will forever be the explosive force in your life that means you might never be able to have nice things, but then… isn't he worth it?

To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.

— Lao Tzu

Because when the day drags and you find yourself wondering if it's all worth it, he will take you places like this:

19.jpg

Where the stars fill the sky and the horizon seems to go on forever. Whether it is a real place or a place held within his rich and varied mindvoice, it is a place of calm. See, Aionedyth has his moments of frenetic activity and his periods of calm. They come with no rhyme or reason, for the universe - at its heart - is both chaos and order, and trying to separate the two is futile.

He will forever be the dichotomy that drives your life: sometimes quiet and thoughtful, and sometimes barreling through life like a split atom careening through the superconductor supercollider, breaking his world so that he might build it back up.

Aionedyth's favorite places will be the ones where he can see the night skies or see the reflections of starlight in a still, clear lake. So bodies of water will hold particular interest for him - and thus - you.

20.jpg

Flow.

In a sense, he will be able to connect with Oriahysciath, for all of her primordial elements, for he is the creature before all creatures - his essence is older than life itself. It is the single-celled creature from which all the building blocks are built in a single, Extinction Level Event that changed the earth.

He is your Extinction Level Event - but instead of dying, you have been rebirthed, Naomi. And in your rebirth, there is Aionedyth to count the ways of how awesome you are.

There is Aionedyth to tell you that you'll never fail.

There is Aionedyth to build you up from the fundamentals of who you are.

He rises and sets with the turn of the earth.

He is, Naomi.

And he is yours.

21.jpg

Personality

Your easy predictable life is a little bit over, Naomi, the moment your Aionedyth breaks shell. He's a cosmos encapsulated in one little brown packaged, and delivered over to you for stewardship, even if it sometimes seems like he really thinks he is the person in charge of this whole dragon-rider relationship.

From the moment Aionedyth spills forth he's well… bossy. Even if he doesn't know exactly what he should be doing, he is going to play it off like he does.

« You should really work on pulling your wings a little closer Xyphth, they're going to drag. »
« You're not suppose to eat so much Oriahysciath, you're not going to be able to fly. »

Even in the face of being told that he really doesn't know what he's talking about, Aionedyth is going to try to play it off like he was trying to test someone else's knowledge.

« Of course I knew that. I was just checking to see if you would catch my mistake. »

It's not that he's a complete bastard, but he lacks a lot of social tact when it comes to dealing with others. He'll get a little smoother as he grows out of the awkward childhood phase, but there will always be a disconnect between himself and his interactions with the others around him. The strange thing is though, he doesn't do it maliciously. He honestly thinks that his advice is going to do the people around him a world of good, and if others get irritated with his bossiness his reaction is flat out confusion. Who wouldn't want his super awesome advice? You're going to have to do some smoothing of feelings when someone else lashes out at Aionedyth for his unwanted advice.

This bossyness isn't limited to his cluchmates. If you let him, he's going to try to micromanage you too. He'll pick something you never even thought about, sometimes out of the blue, and try to help you to 'improve' it. He's not one for just letting the status quo go, Naomi, if you're going to be partnered with him, then you're goig to have to do a little bit of changing.

« Look, I know I've said this before, but you have to work on that walk of yours. No one is going to respect us if you keep walking around like you have a sword up your butt. Loosen up, we're the most awesome pair here.»

Aionedyth really struggles with making friends. He doesn't jump out there and be all bubbly and yay camaraderie, he's more likely to hold back (when he's not giving advice) and let you be his face in interactions with others. He doesn't chatter and shoot the breeze with others, and honestly, he doesn't see a problem with that. Between the two of you he'll open up more, and you'll have some really awesome in depth discussions, but when another jumps in he's going to expect you to relay what has been expressed.

It's probably better that way, because when it comes to Aionedyth's moods, he's hopelessly erratic. Take a simple situation that happens in every wing at one point. You're sent out with another pair on sweeps. The weather sweeps up out of nowhere and suddenly the two of you have to land and jam yourselves into an area to take cover until you can proceed along you way. One time this happens, Aionedyth doesn't really care. He lets the two of you land, get into cover, and then you go onto your sweep like nothing happened at all. The next time though? Woah, watch out. He'll throw a fit and make that waiting time really uncomfortable. He'll rant and rave against the weather, you, and the dragon alongside.

Maybe if you watch for long enough you'll be able to figure out what triggers these mood swings, but good luck, because we have no idea. He's like the weather in the mountains, apt to change his mood at the drop of a hat, and as completely impossible to predict.

Be wary as you approach this variability of his, and be ready to be flexible. When he decides to be angry it'll be your iron will that pulls him back to the moment, and reminds him of his duty. When he decides he just doesn't care, it'll again be up to you to push him back into the sky to get back to work.

Right along side this, sometimes Aionedyth has so much on his mind that it is a little hard to get him focused on one topic long enough to get out a single coherent thought.

« LISTEN NAOMI. YOU CANNOT BE SEEN NEXT TO THAT GREEN DRAGON. THE WEYR WILL FALL DOWN AND THE EARTH WILL CRACK OPEN AND THEN YOU WILL DIE AND I WILL DIE AND THEN WHERE WILL WE— did Ealasaid just pick her nose? I totally think she just picked her nose. OMG. See? GREENS ARE BAD — wait, is that one glowing? MAYBE THEY'RE NOT BAD, THEY'RE SEXY. NAOMI, CHASE THAT RIDER DOWN! »

Once he gets off on one of these tangents you'll have to press him to get back onto the topic that you originally wanted to discuss with him. Sometimes he'll cycle through three or more topics within a single conversation, with none of them really connected to one of them. You might come to suspect after a while together though, that some of these jump-topics are a way to avoid a straight up question from you to him, especially if he doesn't know the answer and doesn't really want to admit it.

Despite this, your Aionedyth is a very intelligent dragon. He is an observer before he's a mover and shaker. As he gets older and gains experience, his advice will become more keen and targeted. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to miss the small details while chasing after the big picture. The biggest picture for a dragon? Thread. He'll wax eloquent on his plans for ways that the pair of you could get rid of thread without everyone having to fly out and destroy it each and every time. Nevermind that his ideas are not at all practical, and sometimes are downright dangerous.

« Thread dies in the ocean Naomi. So the answer really is simple. All we must do is cover the entire planet in water. »

Before you start wondering if life with Aionedyth is going to be all work and no play, don't worry. Aiondyth has his own sense of humor. It's dry, and sometimes biting, but it is there. His favorite jokes come from those that seek to poke holes in the logic and planning of others. He's witty, and often has a comeback that will startle laughter out of others before they really understand everything that he has said. It's in those moments when he'll create the strongest bonds between himself and others.

Fair is often a relative term with your tiny brown. Because he is one of the smallest of his color, he likes to stack the deck so that he'll eventually come out on top. He's not the strongest most long winded dragon out there? That's cool. See, he'll just cheat and skip between when no one can see him. It's not really cheating, it's not like anyone said that was against the rules in the first place. All they said is that he had to get somewhere and do it quickly.

In other words, Aionedyth really isn't much fun to play games with. One of his clutchmates splashes him with a wing, well, be prepared for him to splash back with a full dragonic cannonball. He's not going to put up with that nonsense.

He sounds a little selfish, doesn't he? But the older he gets and the more you dig into the complicated creature that is your lifemate, the more you'll realize he is so much more than that. Yes, he does believe himself to be superbly awesome. At the same time though, he has a firm and unwavering belief that everyone can be out of this world awesome too. All they they have to do is work hard. (And follow his advice of course.)

He never gives up, ever. Not on his own improvement, and not on the improvement of others. There's always at least one dragon in a clutch that seems to drag just a little bit behind the others when it comes to development. That's where you'll find Aionedyth. He's there, in a slightly overbearing way, trying to help that clutchmate be better than they. When he gets into a wing this will spread to his wingmates. Mistakes are a chance to learn something new, and he'll grab onto those mistakes as a chance to grow. He doesn't do this in a friendly-mentor-like way, but as others get to know him, it'll dawn on them that everything he does is to help them become better. There's no use in getting mad at him for it, it'll just slide off his back. Maybe one day he'll even become a really great Weyrlingmaster, Wingsecond, or Wingleader because he's focused on continual improvement. It won't be the most cushy-friendly leadership, but those who serve under your brown will come out better for the association.

A weird quirk though, is that he kinda feels more than a little bit sorry for the poor humans. Look at your disadvantages. You don't have wings, you can't :between:, you can't talk to other humans without being in close contact and opening your mouth, you can't hunt and eat without using some kind of tool. The list goes on and on. Since he is your dragon though, it's going to be okay. Because where you fail because you're a poor little human, he's going to fill in those gaps for you. That's what really awesome-totally-superb beings are suppose to do for the disadvantage. He'll relay your messages quickly to others. Why should you walk across the weyr? Seriously, get over here and climb on up. He can get you there a whole heck of a lot more quickly. Unless he takes a dislike to someone though (we'll get to that!) he'll offer it to other humans too, though he won't go so far as to speak to them very often.

He does have some serious opinions about others though. And it's kinda easy to get onto his bad side. Just because he thinks he is awesome, doesn't mean he thinks others should rub their awesomeness in the face of those currently less-awesome. Arrogance and social-climbing get under his skin like nothing else. He'll rant at you about it in private, and expect that if it is a human doing it, that you're going to do something about it.

Drifting gently, dust weaves its way through rings made of ice and dust, reflecting the light of a far off sun back onto the gas giant below. « Did you hear how that…. green tried to brown nose the Wingleader to get a better spot? It's disgusting. I don't think that he even realizes what they're doing to get his attention. Naomi, you need to say something. It just isn't right them being able to schmooze themselves into a spot someone else deserves more. » Cosmic pressure pushes forward, working against the entrophy of the universe, pressing for change.

He's judgemental, and sometimes really slow to forgive others. It's a good thing he has a typical dragonic memory, because he has the ability to hold a grudge. More than a slight to himself though, Aionedyth takes slights to others even more seriously, especially for you. You are his rider, and thus some of his awesomeness automatically rolls off onto you. An insult to you is an insult to himself, and he'll puff himself like one of those little lap-dogs to meet it with utmost force.

Sadly, he doesn't really get human emotion. It's one of those weaknesses he thinks he needs to compensate for you. You're going to have to explain what anger, love, sorrow, and joy are as you experience these highs and lows of life. He wants to be there as your cosmic support system, but sometimes he just doesn't get it. He's not so great at understanding when you cry for example.

« Naomi? NAOMI. THERE IS WATER COMING FROM YOUR EYES. DID YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO FLOOD THE WORLD AND STOP THREAD? »

Something else he doesn't quite get? Clothing. Why do humans wear the skins of creatures on their backs? He vaguely, kinda, understands that you need something between you and his rough hide, but does it have to be living creatures? Why can't you just go down to Southern and pick up some nice leaves or something? Get them stitched together and you'd have an outfit.

Of course, before you could wear them, they'll need to take on a new color. After all, green is super unlucky.

« It needs more brown in it. Dip it in again! Or… maybe it should be blue. Or red. Oh, or PINK. Yeah, do that. »

See, you can't be this awesome without having some hangups. Luck is one of Aionedyth's. He's superstitious about pretty much everything that it is possible to be superstitious about. He believes in ghosts. Bad things happen when you walk under ladders (don't do that), black felines, nope.

« NAOMI THAT IS A MIRROR DON'… YOU BROKE IT THIS MEANS SEVEN TURNS OF BAD LUCK WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO US?? »

On the far side of the bad luck, he also believes in things that bring good luck. He's a bit of a sucker when it comes to things that promise that the two of you will be guaranteed safety. Over time he'll develop rituals for the two of you to follow before drills and even more importantly before threadfall. Breaking these rituals is seen as really bad jutsu.

« Alright, Pole, check. Lucky socks, check, necklace, check, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST YOUR LUCKY CHARM?! That's it. That's it. We can't go out. Tell the Wingleader we can't do it. »

But all of this, Naomi? All of this is just the surface to the dynamic soul you've bound yourself into. What she becomes as she grows older is between the two of you as you work your way into the future together. The key word in that phrase is together. How she and you develop is a fusion as unique as Aionedyth.

Thread

« THE SKY IS FALLING OMG NAOMI EVERYTHING IS GOING TO END. »

22.jpg

Yeah… be prepared to explain what thread is for pretty much the next forever between the two of you. It's not that Aionedyth forgets completely about Thread, it's kinda his whole reason for existing, but that sense of urgency fades when there is more than a day or so between falls. The call to get ready and organized sends Aionedyth into a frenzy you're going to have to work really hard to overcome.

Just like a supernova starts quickly and then burns out though, Aionedyth's frenzy will burn out quick and leave behind a dragon who is ready to face whatever thread might throw out at him.

In the air he seems to flow with a grace that is hard to pin down exactly. He has the maneuverability of a smaller dragon (perhaps because he is such a small brown), and is able to duck and weave where others of his color are forced to ::between:: so that they can escape the burning danger from above.

23.jpg

In contrast though, when it comes to his power, Aionedyth has all of the authority of flame that a brown could wish for. His flame is hot. It's something that might catch you off guard at the very beginning, because it'll require your wingmates to stay a little bit further away from the two of you in the air. You might also walk away with a few more burns than the typical pair does, until you learn how to really deal with it.

Of course, this flame of his is pretty freaking awesome when it comes to taking care of Thread as it falls. It licks hungerly up anything that it comes into contact with. One breath can take out wide swatches of thread. It could be that you'll find your stride where that wide flame can take out a lot of thread at once, or among the mop-up squads.

It's a bit hard for Aionedyth to get use to working within a group though. The formation of a wing and the authority hierarchy doesn't quite jive with how his brain works. At the start the two of you are going to run into problems when it comes to Aionedyth obeying the authority right away, without trying to question the merits of the person who is giving the orders in the first place. Hopefully this is something the two of you can get figured out during weyrlinghood, so that it doesn't follow you into adulthood.

Flights

Unlike some of his clutchmates, Aionedyth is all about the ladies when it comes to their flights. He's one of the first to realize when a green is starting to head towards the proddy stage, and the same goes for the golds within the weyr (or in other weyrs - where the proddy dragon is at really is immaterial.) It's like he has a second sense for when someone is both pretty and worthy of him (which… is everyone unless they've really ticked him off).

24.jpg

Like a black hole pulls in light, Aionedyth has a way with the ladies. It's not that he's smooth, or that he has just the right lines for the occasion. See, when you're trying to draw in a mate, you have to be flexible and approach them the way that won't push them away in the first place. So for some greens he'll come on strong with gifts and pretty words. With others he'll be careful and suave, both giving them their space while also making them aware of his loving attention. If they are the kind that really hates males hovering around Aionedyth will hold himself off in the distance until she hits the skies and then he will be on her.

During a flight, there's only one thing that matters- and that is the female that he's chasing. While the other males try to spar mentally and physically for the win, Aionedyth could really care less about the other chasers. He'll ignore any and all passes they make at him when they try to get rid of some of the chasers. If they try to knock him out physically he'll dodge. If they try to mentally take him on he'll just flick a switch and send them cascading off into another galaxy altogether.

As in-tune as Aionedyth is, he still will have to slowly grow into himself, and learning how exactly to woo a lover and be able to win the day. He'll lose. He'll lose.. a lot. He'll feel sorry for your sexual frustration afterwards, but not enough to not go after the next tail that decides to take to the sky. At least, you do have a bit of a silver lining to look forward to! Eventually he will start winning and then you'll get your happy-ever-night-after.

Just like a black hole though, eventually Aionedyth has given his everything into a flight, and at the end there is no cuddling or hanging about the lady afterwards. He has taken the light, and all about him falls into darkness again until it is time for the flame to be lit again, and the enteral round to begin once more.

Written with the very power of the universe at his command we hope that your journey together is as cosmic as Aionedyth turned out to be. Above we have given you a sketch of what you and Aionedyth might become, and now we turn him over to you to see how you write your combined names in the stars.
