Did you really think we'd let you escape, Ember? Of course not! You gave 'Co an interesting mix of inspirations, but we all had a blast brainstorming ideas. We hope that we were able to take the elements you asked for and cohesively blend them into the green you envisioned for Ember! She's feline and she's fish, earth and water, light and dark but most importantly she is all yours now to love, enjoy and play as you desire!

Maiden or Monster? Egg

This egg is a bit taller than its fellows, longer overall, and perfectly poised. The stark, white surface is marked in black, hashing out trees and foliage around a central image. From afar, it looks like a woman - black hair, a pale - if oddly featureless - visage, with a white top and black skirts. But, if one looks closer, they'll spy the strangeness: her skeletal, black arms, grasping at nothing; her hair, shaped more like a spade with the tip pointed up. Or is it even hair? Perhaps an odd hat? And then there are her eyes, the only features on an empty face - white limned in red, casting off a nightmarish gleam.

Hatching Message

Maiden or Monster? Egg quivers again in the safety of its hole in the sand, the odd featureless imagery on its shell distorting even further. Cracks multiply and widen as pressure builds and builds — until finally it all gives way in a cascade of shards. From the ruins, new life begins! Bewitching in color, a tiny green steadies herself as she gains her footing, wings tentatively stretching out while her gaze is already fixating on the remaining Candidates nearby.

Egg Inspiration

Creepy monster woodcutting

The Flatwoods Monster is a creepy, alien kind of cryptid, that just gets creepier the more one looks at it. It's also one of my favorites because of that - it's so unusual and compelling in a visual sense!

By Whom We Live Green Dragonet

Unique is she, in the manner of tiniest of forms and evident in every square inch of her lean and slender body. Aqualine in essence but feline in features, she is a creature born of jungle floor and murky ocean depths, a living balance of two very different worlds. Short rounded headknobs rest above her broad, over-shaped head, with concave curve of muzzle leading to a petite and subtly pointed end. Blunted ridges run along the elongated length of her body, short limbs deterring little from the imagery of a predator, as the curve of her needle-sharp obsidian talons would remind. No immediate pattern mars her hide, where bracken undergrowth and drab fern-green lie dominant. These darken, a shadow play at the very points of her, dusting head, feet and the broad expanse of her wings. To call her dull would be a mistake, as one only needs a glimpse under the right conditions to see the truth. Only then will her hide flicker in bewitching foxfire illusion, a heartbeat of tiny motes of bluish amazonite and chrysocolla. They shimmer with every movement she makes, mesmerizing but paled in comparison to that of her tail. Overlong, like the rest of her, it darkens along the length until the very end, where the tip is nestled in glowlight's lure.

Public Impression Pose

By Whom We Live Green Dragonet forges on ahead, despite the obvious setbacks of not being successful in her searching prowl for that much needed and oh-so coveted other half. She turns back, stalking along the shadows of line of a group of Candidates, only to growl when they startle and disperse. Well, isn't that a little frustrating? One from the group gets a little too bold however, from nerves or blinding hope, but she's gone in a flurry of sand and limbs. They'll get a smack to the legs with her tail and be the luckier for it! In that moment of instinct and a chaotic plunge away and ahead… she senses what, no, WHO she desired all along! Only her momentum is working against her, enthusiasm lending fuel to the fire and whether her intended is ready or not! … it's gonna hurt, that collision, as dragonet seeks to claim a little too roughly what is hers.

Private Impression Message

Chaos. It is everywhere around you, overwhelming the senses and making it difficult to focus. Which is the perfect stalking ground for the one that is hunting you down without either of you aware of the end approaching. One moment the Hatching is unfolding around you and the next, your mind is pounced upon. Whatever happens on the physical plane does not matter for that drawn out moment, where you feel your consciousness meld with another. Silence descends, not in totality but to muffle out the world around you, teasing with the sense of night-cool breeze, the smell of damp earth and stone and the distant burbling of water. At first, you are caught in the mental talons of hunger and need so stark and forefront that conversation follows only after the shock begins to ebb. « Ember! » Smoky, alluring, hypnotizing, very much female and very smugly pleased. « I won't let you go, not now! We're in this together and we'll forge our own way. My name is Chayallanth! »

Theme Inspiration

You gave us an awesome base in which to start with Chayallanth, Ember!

slinky cat

Physically, as elaborated below, she's Jaguarundi, a bit of lantern fish and a smidgen of deep sea angler fish.

glowing fish danger fish

How does this tie into the rest of her, you say?

Well, that came with its own challenges and a lot of digging around! A few concepts were tossed back and forth but ultimately discarded. That is until Doji started throwing Aztec gods around and something caught my eye…

Tezcatlipoca and Chalchiuhtlicue!

Aztec god Aztec goddess

Say those three times fast, right? Now, the majority of their influence is in Chayallanth's mindvoice, with Tezcatlipoca being responsible for the obsidian, night skies, winds and a bit of a foil to the other imagery. He's also often represented by a Jaguar and well… Jaguarundi are close enough, right? The nod to Chalchiuhtlicue are the references to water in her mindscapes and those hidden pools. Part of her lore involved her turning humans into fish in order to protect them when she brought 52 days of rain to bring about the destruction of the Fourth Sun.

Speaking of that mind of hers!

You mentioned binging a show on Pripyat and guess what?

Chernobyl image

I used that too.

Oh, you wanted beautiful pictures and while destruction shouldn't be beautiful, there was NO WAY I was passing up some of the imagery of the ruins of the abandoned city. And it just suited her and her nature, to have a mindscape that was life-giving and life-destroying!

Her voice, I'll admit I was slightly influenced by this snippet-clip of Kaa from Disney's Jungle book:

However, you can take that with a grain of salt, if it doesn't quite match what you envisioned!

As for Chayallanth herself, she's a blend of things personality wise! She's traits of the Chaotic Good alignment, woven into some Jaguar Totem, woven further into a vague dip into the Gundas often associated with Kali Ma (but not Kali herself).

The rest came from inspiration guided by linking all of these concepts together — she is literally her own creation, moored as she is in the freedom she values and further sculpted by life's experiences.

Description Inspiration

Her description inspiration was a BLAST to write and work with! Who knew that 'cat' and 'fish' could go so well together? And you wanted a small green! What better than a wildcat that could also pass as an otter? No, seriously…

She's Jaguarundi in build, 100% down to the last detail!

jungle cat jungle cat

yowling cat

But her coloring is where the fish elements come in! You mentioned lantern fish and I could not resist going for that! So while she's all shades of bracken undergrowth and shadows on the surface, not wholly unlike the uniform coat of a Jaguarundi:

ferns forest

She is also inspired by the lantern fish, her little "hidden" detail:

fish swarm single fish

And so her otherwise "drab" hide comes to life! Not under the crushing depths of dark water, as Igen's kind of devoid of it, but under sunlight! It was difficult to translate 'lantern fish' glow into the desc and I ended up leaning on the references to two greenish-blue stones: Amazonite and Chrysocolla!

aqua gem sphere pretty rocks

That gives her her luminescence feel, without breaking canon too far or veering too much this way and that across the color wheel.

And let's not forget her tail! There's a reason the tip is mentioned as 'bright' and that's because what fish-cat (cat-fish?) hybrid is complete without some Angler-fish nod?

lantern fish

That's right! She's got her very own lure. It won't be everyday she'll use it, as her mind is much more apt to draw in enough satisfying prey companionship!

Name Inspiration

You wanted pretty name! A long, flowy, be-a-utiful name with vowels for days. Diem was researching pretty words for 'cat' and decided to use the French word 'chat' for its base, along with pretty letters and vowels that look good together. And then all of a sudden, BAM! Chayallanth came to be with a little tweaking by everyone on SearchCo! We all fell in love with this name the minute the letters were put together. Her name is cat-like and flowery and just rolls off the tongue. Of course, you can pronounce it however you like because she is all yours!

Diem pronounces it as: Shay-AWL-anth

Mindvoice

One of the four sons of Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl, he is associated with a wide range of concepts, including the night sky, the night winds, hurricanes, the north, the earth, obsidian, enmity, discord, rulership, divination, temptation, jaguars, sorcery, beauty, war and strife.

- Tezcatlipoca, Wikipedia

Nature and decay. Life and destruction.

That is the basis of Chayallanth'S mindscape: a dystopian landscape being slowly and gradually reclaimed once more by nature in all her many forms.

Chernobyl ruins More ruins

Diluted sunlight filtering in through crumblings walls, fallen roofs and broken windows. None are ever quite one and the same and neither do they seem to serve an immediate purpose. What cannot be denied is that there is an eerie but stunning beauty to the richness of detail that she weaves.

and more ruins

Very little is left out and yet there is an ever present feel of mystery to the shapes her mind form. Truthfully, Chayallanth isn't one to overcomplicate with hidden symbolism. This is merely her hunting grounds, for while she leads those along abandoned paths and empty structures, she is always present.

Always prowling. Always lurking somewhere just out of 'sight'. It's more of a comfort than a tactic to set one ill at ease.

more ruins

Even with all the signs of decay and age, there are ones of life as well. The crunch of debris and leaves underfoot, the earthy smell of damp ground and stone and the sigh of wind as it passes by. Quiet sounds, near to comforting, in the wake of destruction. Chayallanth is all about chaotic balance and her mind is no different!

It will take a sharp eye and perhaps a few occasions until one note of repetition surfaces and often enough to be genuine, rather than a fleeting moment of inspiration on her part.

Obsidian.

There will be bits of it everywhere!

obsidian in hand obsidian arrowheads

obsidian bowls

Obsidian shards in the debris. Obsidian decor, subtle enough to be missed. Broken and whole obsidian tools.

Most of all?

Obsidian mirrors.

black cat in mirror obsidian mirror

Oh, there's glass sometimes but that seems largely reserved for the dramatic effect of windows and stained glass in varying stages of destruction. No, Chayallanth has a thing for mirrors made only of polished obsidian. They'll show up when she's feeling mostly introspective, whether to herself, to you or to any she's managed to skillfully draw into her own brand of wonderland.

Chayallanth wouldn't be Chayallanth, however, without her chosen element of water. Sacred as it is and well guarded. To find it, one has to leave what little sanctuary she offers in ruins and nature…

moonlit forest

… to twilit forests, where watery sunlight becomes moonlight and vast, untouched, canopies obscure the night skies above. Not that it matters, here. Chayallanth will lead all on the right paths, guided by rippling light not unlike the reflection on water. Already, two worlds are converging into one.

fairy river more fairies

The heart of her should come as no surprise! A deep pool of the clearest but darkest waters and unimaginable depths. This is where Chayallanth truly resides, both earth and water elements. Dancing motes of light, a reflection of her own hide, may at times drift in on some quiet breeze. Their numbers will be in tandem with her mood and expressions; an abundance would signal high and heated emotions, while few to none could be a harbinger of bad news (or she is merely up to something and keeping you on your toes!).

In the depths of those pools or any body of water, there will be the fleeting glimmer of…

… fish.

koi

(These are Koi and not Lantern fish but you get the idea!)

Yes, fish. Much like her obsession with obsidian, fish are her water-bound quirk. They represent the 'wrong' she may encounter in her experiences through life, be they negative emotions, thoughts or even individuals influential enough to be noted (or remembered) and cast into fish-form and caged for her own delight. Chayallanth collects them, her little fishes and depending on how benevolent she feels, will determine the amount of 'care' she extends once they are there or the length of their imprisonment.

Her voice is liquid smoke, hushed and purred but lacking that sultry edge that would be expected. Falsely alluring and comforting, it draws attention while similarly raising some of the hairs on the back of one's neck. Despite the disembodied element to it, it is also calming the longer she speaks, soothing those initial senses that there is a dangerous predator lurking under the facade of 'friendly'. Her voice prowls through consciousness, much as her presence does in thought and how she herself physically moves through the world. Wary and cautious, patient and observant, her speech follows similar patterns. Flowing, hypnotizing, when she is truly in her element it is very hard to ignore her and it delights her to no end.

Physicalities

Could there be anything cuter than a baby Chayallanth?

baby jaguarundi another baby cat

LOOK HOW FREAKING ADORABLE BABY JAGUARUNDI ARE! DAT FACE

No, we don't think so either!

Where most dragonets in their first month are all ranges of awkward, coltish and, let's face it, some are just plain ugly, well… she's not.

Those teeny tiny limbs of hers are going to be quite the attention grab! For all the right and wrong reasons. Until she grows into herself more? There will be plenty that'll be out of her range.

Not that it stops her, in the slightest, from ploughing ahead in sheer determination!

You see where this is going, right? Yeah. Lots of failures! Lots of mildly bruised ego until she's curled up in her wallow, plotting three different cunning scenarios on how to remedy this problem and use whoever whatever she can to achieve it. The dragonhealer's are gonna love you both (that's sarcasm), as much as they'll love Tzielle's Kiiyith. It'll be a steep learning curve but she'll outgrow that stage… even if she doesn't become that much taller!

stretching cat

Short limbs, long body, broad wings, absurdly long tail. That is, in essence, Chayallanth!

Despite being one of the smallest, anyone who would doubt her strength is in for a real surprise! She uses every inch of her elongated body to the utmost perfection once she's reached maturity; she is stealth and grace and killing machine all in one neat and tidy package! If beauty pageants were a thing for dragons, she surely wouldn't be winning any but that doesn't even register in her mind. She's not there to razzle and dazzle, though her unique coloring may draw attention all on its own!
Such a dark and murky green would be drab on its own, but oh, how Chayallanth flips that all on its head! And that bright coloring? Expect that to really come out after she's been in the water or after a very good oiling. Both of which she'll enjoy, though she can't say the same for Jaehnieseyth love for dust bathing. She's cunning enough to know too, just how and when, to wield this blessed attribute of hers! Don't be surprised if on a particularly sunny day, she will arrange herself just-so in that light. When questioned, she will answer…

sunbathing cat

« Oh, no reason. I'm just comfortable like this. »

Never mind that her overly long (so long) tail is suspiciously draped in a way that the bright 'tip' is positioned like a lure! Her wiggling it? She's just restless! Not her fault if that somehow draws someone's, or something's, attention!

prowling cat night cat

Her physical traits will never hinder her for long; she makes due with what fate has given her and don't let anyone convince you she's 'flawed' otherwise! Chayallanth will soon prove the nay-sayers wrong, time and again, not to misjudge her.

All anyone really needs, is to see her in action! Not only in the skies, but on the ground too.
We're talking hunting!

Chayallanth loves to hunt — in almost every sense of the word! But when she isn't hunting opportunities or her next victim individual of interest, she is literally hunting! It doesn't matter if some of her prey necessary to her survival will be a challenge when she's first learning: it won't stop her and it will be frightening how fast and effective she is at learning to use her disadvantages to her benefit! She enjoys every moment of it, from the successes to the failures.

dinner

Yet if there's one 'prey' of choice, that would be wherries for her. Chickens too, if she can sink her teeth into the uncommon treat. Woe be the day anyone informs her of the geese and duck related avians! "Rarity" is not a concern of hers.

There is little in the world that would stop Chayallanth from doing something she desires and her physical form won't be one of those things!

Personality

I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

— Bernardo de la Paz, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress

"You do you!"

That will literally be Chayallanth's mantra from the moment she hatches her shell! She's ALL about freedom being the source of happiness and growth in life. It's not a bad outlook, really! Except for when you both start to hit the 'rules and laws' wall; of which Chayallanth will tear down each and every one of them and at every opportunity she gets! She is light and she is dark: chaos in perpetual balance, a rebel at heart and looking out for herself you both. Sometimes that leads to unpredictable ends and may come off as malicious but that is never the core reason to her actions.

Remember that 'lazy' approach to working smarter to working harder? Chayallanth is on board with that too. Why?

« It's your choice, Ember! Don't let me stop you. »

no problem solving alone

She won't, either! It's ALL your choice and your freedom to do so and she won't be the one to stomp all over that. Advice will be freely given but if you're ever looking for that 'angel on your shoulder' to warn you against Bad Decisions, well…

Chayallanth's more of the devil-inclined side.

Not because she is (all) bad! Simply, if choices are made that lead to awry ends or disastrous paths, well… that was your choice and now it's your choice to either learn from it or fail again. What doesn't ever change, ever, is Chayallanth's support. She'll always be there, for as long as you will need her. Sometimes she'll have wise words of wisdom to share and other times she will be accepting but quietly so; in time you may learn that that is a signal that maybe you should reconsider your actions — or Chayallanth is toying with you.

… actually, always assume she's toying with you.

« I never said that was going to happen! How would I know that they'd be so insulted by something like that? »

Just as you would mold life to how you want it to go, so does Chayallanth, only Chayallanth is 100% more pragmatic about it, because of the way she values freedom of choice above all things in life. It's for this very reason that she may be misunderstood when others cross paths with her.

My soul is good, but free. Laws have no conscience. Blind order promotes disorder. Goodness cannot be learned just from a book of prayer. Compassion does not wear a uniform. The smallest act of kindness is never wasted. Repay kindness with kindness. Be kind to someone in trouble — it may be you who needs kindness the next day.

— Introduction to Chaotic Good, Pathfinder Ultimate Campaign

On the surface, she can come off as mischievous with that utterly free spirit of hers — and that's not entirely wrong to assume! Where Chayallanth is light, she is also 'dark'. Not to be confused with evil, because she is not, in essence, even remotely close. She can be ruled by temptation, lured as much by outside sources as she lures others to herself. Those traits are very much a part of the core that is HER too. She is independent, cheerful and optimistic on the surface and others will be drawn to her for this reason! Blinded as they are by that "light" side of her, too tempting and brilliant allure to, well, lure!

lantern fish

And, oh -! Not everyone will see the toothy visage grinning beneath! YOU will, of course! You're privy to all that lurks beneath those cool, welcoming waters of Chayallanth's surface personality; of the calculating, cunning, side of her that lives deep, deep down in the depths of her psyche, lying in wait for the perfect prey opportunity…

.. only to STRIKE!

Because life is HERS, as are all freedoms, and she'll be damned if she allows a delectable moment pass because of 'rules' or 'laws' or the dreaded what ifs!

Whatever I thought right

seemed bad to others;

whatever seemed wrong to me,

others approved of.

— Siegmund, The Ring of the Nibelung

Weyrlinghood? Oh, you will weep for joy, no doubt, when you finally graduate… IF you graduate! Chayallanth will be a challenge in a different sense of the word, in that she doesn't necessarily chafe against the restrictions placed upon you both during your training! She'll just be ever on the lookout for loopholes to sink her proverbial teeth in and get the upper hand… claw… talon? You get the picture.

A year from now, ten, they'll swing back to the belief that they can make people… "better". And I do not hold to that. So no more running. I aim to misbehave.

— Malcolm Reynolds, Serenity

When younger, Chayallanth is both simple and oh-so complex; she is good overall in a near-to neutral sense, but leaning more towards chaotic tendencies as she falls prey to her unpredictable nature and yield her hand too quickly. Below that though, ever present, ever prowling along the peripheral, she is more

hissing cat bleb cat

… she is intoxicating temper, ignorance and inertia when faced with obstacles. It's with these that she'll initially seek to 'destroy' anything that comes between her and her views of 'freedom'. She falls prey easily to jealousy, anger and attachments but will be cool and calm when things go her way. In essence, she's a rebellious child (or kitten!) with no idea how the world works and already looking to overthrow as many rules as possible, without knowing how. Eventually, she will learn (or you will and she'll just graciously borrow your own knowledge when her memory fails)!

At least calming her will be an easy enough task, as a small mercy granted on your end of things? Take it as a silver lining! Really, it will be much like a swift storm (or a hurricane in force) how fast that change will come.

Speaking of turbulence… her outward nature could lead to some among her fellow siblings and others of her 'kin' and extended 'family' within the Weyr. Chayallanth is ambitious and hardworking beneath all that playfulness and her 'goals', such as they are, are always self-motivated beneath that surface. A feline is both mysterious but enjoyable company — but watch for them claws! That very same can be applied to Chayallanth.

Thankfully, she will largely grow out of this phase (or just be better at concealing her motives, let's be honest here)! Yet through her failures, and, undoubtedly, your more numerous ones, she'll learn!

"I was trying to have fun and then I made everything weird, 'cause I'm weird."

-Kimmy Schmidt, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

She'll learn that Kiiyith has her marked as an acceptable target for one of her (many) wrestling tussles and the first few times, Chayallanth will accept it. Eventually she will begin to use that against Kiiyith for her own purposes, if the need ever arises.

With Yujnth, Chayallanth will toy with him whenever the opportunity presents itself. His rule-bound, law abiding ways are both mystifying and aggravating for one such as she! Jaehnieseyth's unflappable optimism and innocence will be welcomed but stifling, while she'll get along a little too well at times with Dukahnth.

Amusement? Curiosity? One part of a masterfully elaborate plan? Who knows! Chayallanth will be adept at observing them (and anyone, really), whether it be lurking in the shadows or right in the thick of things; she's eerily perceptive and far too patient once she's matured. If there was a Craft for 'Traps and Cons', she'd be the Master of All.

Chayallanth has a strong sense of self-control once she nears maturity and will often choose what will uplift her physically and mentally (and sometimes, by extension, you as well). Her interests will broaden into improving her knowledge as much as a dragon can. As for attachments? Well, she has you and that's enough. While she'll be friendly and personable with most, there's always an invisible barrier. She's content to keep them dazzled by that 'bright light' of her topmost personality quirks. Basically? Chayallanth is approachable and remains such, unless decided otherwise. It wouldn't do if everyone found out just how sharp her "teeth" can be under that mask, right?

Where Ember could be considered 'entropy', Chayallanth is the balancing opposite to that. She provides energy (and pleasure!) in the short-term. She is stimulating and engaging, not only for herself but to those around her. It all comes back to her core values, rooted as they are in a chaotic-good balance. She'd prefer to take the path of least resistance, which in a way can be seen as a reflection of Ember's 'laziness', when in reality, she's not striving for conflict! Of course, half of her decisions lead there regardless but Chayallanth is quick to shake that off. If the result was worthwhile? Then a little ego bruising or a reprimande is a suitable pay off.

She will become the embodiment of self empowerment and confidence, with an innate need for preparation when older. Well thought out 'plans' will be her go-to and she will try to instill the same within you where you lack — all without stifling your right to choose, of course!

« Ember, if I can make a tiny suggestion? It might help… or maybe it won't. I'll let you decide that. »

Don't heed her advice? That doesn't bother Chayallanth! Just don't get all bent out of shape with her if you do the same and she shrugs it off too. You both have that right and together you'll reap the consequences rewards! Foresight may very well become one of her greatest attributes in time but whether or not that helps matters will forever be a toss up!

"Be you. Be what you want. And then become unbreakable."

-Kimmy Schmidt, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

As Chayallanth might also say:

« I see myself doing this, Ember! Nothing is going to stop us! »

Afterall, the world is hers yours, right?

Flights

Remember that love of 'hunting' Chayallanth possess? Well, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it bleeds into 'hunting out a companion' too, when the time is right! When will that time be?

Well…

…nothing really governs Chayallanth's cycles? Just as she is not bound by any rules but her own, it would seem that her flights follow a similar guideline. They're just as unpredictable as she is! Sometimes, there's warning, like a slow and gradual burn where you might pick up nuances of change in her behavior. Maybe of late she's been focusing more of her "attention" on particular males or setting you up to cross paths with certain individuals that have no bearing or sense of purpose.

« Hmm. Guess I thought something exciting might've happened? I didn't know they were such a boor. Remember that, will you? We'll get them back. »

It's not like her to be rattled or uncertain, so that could be a dead give away for you! Yet just as you think you've pinned down her flight behaviors? She'll go and change it up. Was the last flight only a month ago? Too bad. Was that one long? This one is going to be short and sweet!

Oh, and most of the time? There isn't a warning. Count the few times she'll bless you with a 'heads up' to a literal wrench in your plans! You had plans? Well Chayallanth did too and guess who's going to win that match? Yeah, she is.

moon gif

Really, it could boil down to the very instinctual 'right males, right time' and nothing more. Chayallanth will set a few 'traps' and bait them on a whim, prowling among the prospects as they eventually fall prey to her. Finding that compatible 'match' will always be a source of 'FUN' for her, even if potentially frustrating. Those poor boys won't know what's in store for them, as Chayallanth's will expect the Absolute Best from their prowess (and grit and determination) and damn they better not disappoint her! She will be savage in her own way when it comes to her flights and not necessarily in a physical manner; it's more a play on the mind of her suitors, to keep them coming despite the slumbering danger of her teeth and claws — of which those who are too brazen may feel the sting!

Once the dust settles and the minimal time for recovery has passed, Chayallanth will promptly kick her (un)lucky suitor to the curb. She's not one to cuddle and her desire to steer clear of additional attachments comes heavily into play. That is her choice but if you chose not to kick said winner's rider out and enjoy their company, well…

Chayallanth will support you in that decision!

Thread

"You take what you get, you get what you please, better to die on your feet than live on your knees."

—Midnight Oil, The Power and the Passion

If there is a time and a place where Chayallanth feels comfortable enough to let down some of her masks and sink her talons into a bit of destructive force?

Threadfall will be that time!

She has zero compassion for those silvery threads. While inexperience will see her first few 'Falls a hotbed of enthusiasm, she will temper over time — or you may just get that much better at keeping her calm and collected.

It could be disconcerting, the first dozen times you both fly in this age-old battle, as Chayallanth's mind scatters to something more instinctual and primal; again, her lust for hunting will rear up in a time like this. Only Thread isn't one target but many and keeping her focused will be a challenge in and of itself. Why flame just the clump in front of you, when there are so many around that she can reach! Formations!?

« We can get that strand and be back in their precious formation before they finish blinking, Ember! »

If it were in Chayallanth's power, she would command the skies to rain down torrents of water to save them ALL the trouble of a drawn out fight. Unfortunately, she cannot and so she'll settle for raining FIRE down on Thread instead!

chayallanth_44.gif

Small does not mean weak and once again Chayallanth will prove naysayers wrong in her ability to withhold considerable firepower! Sure, she may require more firestone in the sense of frequency but as Turns bring practiced experience, you'll both learn to squeeze the absolute last bit out of the stone she consumes. There is little chance that Chayallanth can fly a full 'Fall, but she'll make every moment that you're up there count.
