Congratulations on impressing a dragon here at Ista Weyr! We hope that she is everything that you could want in a lifemate, though this inspiration is just a guideline for how to play your dragon. You are not required to follow all or any of it. The dragon is /yours/. Members of SearchCo have put many hours into the creation of your dragon, and we are excited to see how you develop the personality in your own, unique way. – Yla

Clutching Message:

Dhiammarath lowers herself to the black diamond sands once more, crooning as she exerts herself to bring another egg to the world, and yet remaining utterly composed throughout. Eventually, she demurely raises herself to reveal an elegant and yet understated English Country Garden Egg sitting in place upon the sands, as perched and poised in place as any young aristocrat would be.

English Country Garden Egg

Rich, verdant green is the underlying hue that covers this egg, as perfect and even over the surface as a carefully trimmed lawn. But that luscious viridian is overshadowed by the riotous colours, that, while they draw the eye, remain contained within their own perfect borders, as if creating a walkway for the eye to wander around. Sweet rosy-pinks, musky scarlets, sharp jasmines and sour laburnum-yellows shift into one another, no one in particular achieving dominance over the rest, neat and precise.

Hatching Message:

English Country Garden Egg rocks in place, as if to try and shy away from invisible insects that might come to taste the sweet pollen of its faintly gleaming surface. It rocks almost rhythmically, as the hatchling within strives to escape, methodically trying to fracture the egg from within. Then, it's as if the egg has reached its limit and can take no more, cracks appearing on almost every visible point, and the much weakened egg collapses outwards, leaving a slender looking green dragonet to spill out onto the sands. Then she lifts her head, a discarded piece of shell decorating her headknobs almost like a protective helmet, as Nighttime on the Lines Green dragonet assesses her surroundings.
Nighttime on the Lines Green Dragonet

Muddy olive patches smudge and smear themselves haphazardly over this slender green's sharp and somewhat angular muzzle, causing the lines of her head to blur so that they run one into the other - dark olive into rich forest green, creeping upwards into a muted, icy jade near her eyeridges. Sumptuous peridot takes over from there, sliding down and around her throat to swirl into claddings of pine-needle smatterings of sage, overlaying tones of amber and umber that creep stealthily under the cover of the dominant camouflaging hues towards her wingtips. Darker shaded chartreuse merges with berry-red appear from nowhere as they approach her rapier thin tail. But it is her talons that attract the most attention, darker than any other part of her slender form, tainted with bronzen black to almost make it appear if she's been playing in the dirt.

Impression Message:

Nighttime on the Lines Green Dragonet pauses in her low slung motions around the sand. What was that? What caught her attention? There! That girl! That one over there! Stealthily she creeps forward, her tail primly held a few inches aloft in the air to prevent it from dragging in the sand in a most undignified manner. Finally she plants herself firmly in front of the white robed female, slapping her tail down on the sand and causing black diamond sand to splash upwards with the impact. She rears back slightly to confront the girl and causes her piece of shell to fall off her head as she crows her victory with an almost teasing croon. Well, well. What do we have here? It seems that she's found herself a Nyla.

Personal Impression Message:

Silvern laughter tickles the edges of your senses, appearing and disappearing seemingly at will. Was that just a figment of your imagination? Perhaps? Or perhaps not, as the laugher reappears, louder this time almost rushing up to meet you with glee. « Look what we have here. » The purring tones dance around your mind, regarding you with an almost teasing vibrant orange. « Nyla. » The pronouncement comes as if she's made a great discovery, the find of a lifetime. « I am Rionath. Now let me ask where do you think we should go on our first adventure? »

~*~ INSPIRATIONS ~*~

Name Inspiration:

Your green’s name was long thought over, and eventually, we dug into names from languages other than English and came up with the Irish ‘Rionach’. It’s a lovely feminine name, and translates to a meaning of ‘queenie’ in English. We thought that the name had both the element of royalty and the element of cheekiness that seems to define Lara Croft. Pronunciation wise, we thought REE-oh-nath, ree-OH-nath or RYE-oh-nath would fit, the last sounding quite lyrical when it’s spoken aloud.

Egg Inspiration:

Is there anything more quintessentially English than the idea of the English country garden? Those perfectly kept grounds that are seen outside stately homes and little thatched cottages? Those neatly trimmed lawns and careful borders are the very model of reservation even as the colours and the scents – so many scents like you wouldn’t believe, all battling for dominance – are quite beautiful (suitable for Rionath, yes?). This egg was in fact inspired by a lovely set of public gardens (one of two) in my hometown, so, as an Englishwoman, I know of which I desc. :)

Description Inspiration:

You almost wrote the description for us, dear! For Rionath’s description, I imaged what a dragon would look like with battle fatigues painted on her hide, leading to the almost mottled and varied appearance of most of her hide. Her head is covered by what almost looks to be war paint, brightening to a luscious peridot, almost where the paint ends, before it reaches the rest of her camouflaged body, which takes what you told us what her camouflaged hide should look like.

Mind Voice:

Rich and vivacious red and oranges are the dominant colours that saturate Rionath’s mindvoice, somewhat akin to a raging, and yet controlled fire, reflecting her utter love of life and all consuming energy, just like the flames. Hot and spicy cayenne and paprika dust her words, giving it all a deliciously tangy sensation that few can something of an acquired sensation for those who bespeak her.

But there aren’t just those fiery shades making up the unique taste of her mind, there are slivers of silver, shining brighter when Rionath utters a witticism. The term ‘silver tongued’ probably was never so apt.

One of the most recognisable characteristics of Lara Croft is her perfectly enunciated British Upper-Class accent. Every word is clear and precise, and yet there is an undercurrent of constant amusement at the world around here with leaves her tone an almost purring one.

Physicality:

Slender, and yet gangly, that is how you asked for Rionath to appear. She’ll always be a little uneven in her growth all throughout weyrlinghood, for parts of her will grow at different lengths. At one point, her wings might be far too big for her, and on another, her legs will be just that bit too short and cause her to trip over her own paws.

Not that any of these trips of stumbles will cause her problems. She’ll just brush it off with an ‘I meant to do that’ and carry on with her awkward stumbling. It won’t be until she’s fully grown that she’ll be comfortable with that gangliness and she’ll be functioning with as much, if not more, grace than the rest of her clutch.

She’s un-selfconscious about her own appearance. Rionath could go swimming in the sea, then get covered in dirt from the forest, and yet from her attitude, you’d think she was freshly oiled and pristine in her appearance. To her, attitude is everything. It doesn’t matter than her tail is slightly too long and thin for her body, she believes in her own inherent sensuality, and that makes itself apparent with every move she makes.

Rionath will develop a certain flair about her flying style. She’ll develop a talent for turns on a wingtip, for skimming close to the top of the Istan treetops, and pulling out of dives at the last second.

But she’ll never lose her grace in all these mad stunts. Remember the Tomb Raider scene with Lara jumping around her hall attached to a set of bungee ropes? Twisting and turning effortlessly in the air? That’s how she’ll be. Almost as if gravity has no hold on her, and if it weren’t for the inevitability of what goes up must come down, it’d be like she could stay in the skies forever.

Personality:

Lara Croft. A computer generated sex symbol for a generation. For years, Lara Croft in her artificial form has graced computer screens and teenaged boys bedroom walls across the world, and more recently, she’s appeared in the form of Angelina Jolie, in the movie “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”. This is what you asked for your dragon to be based on, and you got it!

Lara, more than anything, is a liberated woman. She may be one of the sexiest women on the planet, but she isn’t defined by that. Sexuality isn’t something she has to work at. It’s just something that happens naturally.

“… A lady should be modest.”

“Yes. A lady should be modest.”

Hillary (Chris Barrie) and Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie), in ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’

This, I think, in conjunction with the obligatory shower scene it accompanies, defines Rionath to a T. She’s quite aware of her essential femininity, she knows she’s sexy, but she doesn’t do anything about it. Oh certainly, as Lara wears revealing clothes, Rionath always looks pristine and manages to get herself oiled to her /best/ advantage, but it’s an unconscious sort of sexiness. She doesn’t try to use her feminine wiles to her advantage, keeping the fact that she’s something of a lady in mind, and while she knows the effect she has on the male members of her species, she doesn’t seek to have that effect.

“… she’ll make you take your clothes off /

and go dancing in the rain /

she’ll make you live the crazy life …

… she’s livin’ la vida loca …”

-Excerpts from ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’, by Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin could have been singing about Rionath. She’s so full of life and adventure that the only thing that keeps her from spreading that energy all over the Weyr and infecting them with her joy for life and living in the moment is her inbuilt reserve. When no one’s looking though, she’ll gleefully laugh over her circumstances, if it’s fighting in Thread, you’ll be the only one to hear her laughter as she partakes in such a grim task. Recall the scene in Tomb Raider where Lara is escaping from an exploding ice cave. She’s near death, but she’s so exhilarated she can’t help but giggle about it.

« That was fun! Let’s do it again! »

And if you don’t want to do it again, she’ll connive you into it with some relentless persuasion.

That’s not to say that this lust for life makes her a ditz. Not at all, in fact, it seems to come from her intelligence. She knows what she’s risking as a dragon who fights thread, and somewhere in her subconscious, she’s made the decision, without even realising it, to live every day to its full. That innate intelligence will serve her, and you, extremely well.

She’ll be knowledgeable about the world around her. Draconic memory being what it is, she’ll hardly be able to remember specific facts about her, but she is quite savvy about the world around her, knowing who’s who, and what’s what, and if she doesn’t have access to some information, she’ll certainly know someone who does.

« Well, I heard from a friend of a friend of a buddy of a pal, who knew someone who overheard their rider talking in the living caverns that Alishath has been… well… you know the sort of things I mean… »

She’s hardly demure, but when she comes out with these sorts of phrases, you can bet she has some fairly scandalous information to share.

All in all, Rionath has a lust for life that’ll eclipse anything else. One thing you can be certain of: life with her will be one big adventure.

Flights:

It’s all a game to Rionath. In the days where she’s proddy, Rionath will suddenly be coming out with so many double entendres that you won’t know which way to look, and she’ll find every excuse to casually touch and brush up against a male. Never with the mean to incite, oh no, she’ll always have a perfectly reasonable explanation why she had to cover that particular bronze’s tail with her own. She won’t be apparently doing it deliberately, but she’ll have the effect of turning all male eyes and attentions towards her.

When taking to the sky, Rionath will be something of a dare devil. She’ll engage in the most complex aerial acrobatics, skirting close to the rim and close to the ground, often doing both within moments of each other. If the boys can’t keep up with her, that’s their problem, because Rionath will enjoy the rare chance to stretch her skills to the full and fly like a green possessed.

She’ll enjoy it so much she’ll be one of the hardest greens to catch, leaving dragons spent or floundering in her wake. She won’t like having the boys cutting her fun short, so she’ll do anything she can to prevent that. And whoever catches her had best make certain that he doesn’t mind being the underdog, because she’s not going to be submissive to anyone.
