Name Inspiration

Kiyzenyath comes from many, many permutations of little green and glass frogs thrown into google translate; Russian had all the most delicious consonants, and got it nearly there. Hannah helped out with smoothing out some transitions and balance, and Kiy (or will it be Zen?) was born.

Up to and including the way it looks still at first, and it's only on closer inspection (introspection) that the fact that it ISN'T static is revealed.

(I like themes, and I like mirrors: N'zi and Zateriyath are stoic and ebullient and zt is all things Igen; Diya and [her dragon] are joyous enthusiasm and wild-thing patience, and like her brother before her she ends up with a dragon whose soul sings of home. Just, you know, a different one than her family might like.)

Physicalities

There's a lot of frog in her, deceptive delicacy in the curve of her little wings, translucency of her tummy, and stub of her tail.

Personality

She is sweet and good without being syrup, a nice dragon for a nice girl until you get under her skin or harass her sweetheart lifemate; then she's all inexorable creeping kudzu and oppressive humidity until you're drowning on the air you breathe. She's everything about Southern that Diya's grown to love, all the green and growing things that can awe as well as overwhelm.

There's some mythos in her, too — frogs as harbingers of death, protectors of nature, kind of thing. All innocent and cute on the surface, sure, but she's a dragon built for fighting and born into a pass — there's gonna be some death on her hands, some in her soul, and that's a bit of what draws her to Diya — a Diya who wasn't sure about standing this time, who still mourns the recent loss of a childhood friend in the service of the same war she's volunteering herself for.
