Where Igen Weyr

Council Chambers
However disheveled the corridor outside might lie, THIS room - the sole dominion of the Weyr's upper elite - is always sparkling, ever swept, ever dusted, its walls scrubbed free of the grime of ages. A certain spartan grandeur fills the Council Chamber, with its foreboding stonework and heavy wooden door. A round table fills the bulk of the space, an ancient creation of fire-hardened wood, carved with the three dune'd symbol of Igen Weyr. Chairs surround: hard-backed things (with thin cushions) for the most part, but two grandiose chairs, on opposite sides of the table, that seat Weyrwoman and Weyrleader. The walls are lined with elegant old tapestries, depicting scenes of ancient Igen glories.

Afternoon was fading into evening when Valiuth's command for Sienna to meet W'rin in council chambers reached her green dragon. Clearly not meant to be a social call, the strictly formal tone of the bronze, is matched in the room but W'rin's unyielding demeanor, highlighted by always formal attire. The oppressive table recently polished and every stacked parchment the exact distance from the edge. Nothing is out of place. It is how the man functions - creating order out of chaos.

Sienna figured, by Valiuth's tone, that this was not a 'hey, let's get frisky in my office', and thus she arrives not in lingerie and a robe, but in proper Weyrlingmaster attire. Freshly cleaned riding leathers and her knot, neat upon her shoulder. Her curls are wrestled back into a high runnertail, though as always a few fall around her face as she walks to join W'rin in the chambers, carrying a folder in one hand. The other she uses to snap off a smart salute, staring just over his head. "Weyrleader, sir."

Though W'rin does not rise from his seat, the salute is returned crisply before he waves at a chair on the side of the table. "Sienna, sit. It is time we discussed your interim weyrlingmaster position." And by the solemn tone, it really won't be so much of a discussion at all. While he's certainly not being cold, there is an air about him that indicates this is just one of in a line of many things that have to get done. With the removal of K'ane from the weyrlingmaster staff, it is probably a good indication the weyrleader will be shaking things up completely.

Sienna sighs quietly as she moves forward to take the offered seat, setting the thick folder onto his desk. "The final compiled training reports for all of the Weyrlings from this class," she says. "A copy for your records, and I have the originals in my - " cough, "in the Weyrlingmaster's office." Sitting there, straight backed, hands on her knees, she waits for his verdict.

W'rin nods sharply, a thank for the report. "Good, then. You've done your duty to the weyr, Sienna. And for that we thank you." The 'but' lingers clearly in the air. Verdict delivered. "We appreciate the time you have put in as interim weyrlingmaster. But we will be looking for a replacement before the clutch hatches." If the man is uncomfortable with stripping his weyrmate - of rank - he hides it execellently. "You're too soft, Sienna. I can't have that at the head of my weyrlingmaster staff, but you are good at what you do. I do think there is a place on the staff for you. As an assistant. Or you may have your pick of any wing but Whirwlind. It is up to you, though I believe your talent to be helping with the weyrlings."

Too soft. Sienna had planned on asking the reasons behind the removal of her knot - if it were her gender or her lifemate's color, or anything she did that was lacking in the training of this group - in the picking up the pieces and fixing the broken mess she was handed. "Is that the only place I have lacked, sir?" she asks. "Because I would like to continue as an assistant, but if there is any other feedback you could offer, I would gladly take it." She's sad to lose her rank, her pride a little stung, no doubt about it.

"No." W'rin shakes his head slowly, considering the question before replying. "We all have our talents, Sienna. Yours is with weyrlings, just not as master. I need someone to turn boys to men in less than a turn, that takes someone bashing heads together, not holding hands." Though, a fond smirk lurks beneath his beard. Much like A'lory perhaps would not make a good wingleader, he's position is indispensable to the weyrleader, a feat which no one else can maneuver quite like his skinny 'second. Still from somewhere beneath the table, an assistant weyrlingmaster knot is drawn and place in front of the greenrider. "The weyr needs you, are you ready?"

Sienna reaches up to slowly remove her Weyrlingmaster knot, laying it carefully on the table before she reaches for the AWLM one and fastens it on. "Of course, sir," she says quietly, with a faint smile. "I serve the weyr." What was that about being too soft again? She's sad. But she'll get over it. She knows this is the right decision for everyone.

W'rin's face tenses slightly at the show of feelings when dealing with official weyr business, but his giant mouth stays shut. This time. "The weyr thanks you for your service, assistant weyrlingmaster." Yes, the man seems much more comfortable with that, or perhaps it is simply that this awkward conversation is over. But then he says something he has yet to say to any of the men who have come through this office to either be promoted or demoted today. "See you at home." Oh, is he supposed to be comforting to her in her demotion? Woops.

Sienna pushes to her feet and snaps off another salute. "Yes, sir," she says, her face returned to normal. "See you at home," she adds before she strides out, closing the door softly behind her.
