Living Caverns

Grand and spacious, the cavern curves high aloft in naturally-vaulted ceiling that soothes any sense of claustrophobia. Rich woods line the cavern floor, varnished and stained a rich mahogany, while round tables scatter about candlelit and intimate. The largest table lies southerly next the sideboard, long trestles that seem oriented to providing for the weyr's youngest. The rich blue of Azov can be seen from a distance in good weather, when the heavy stone doors covering the entrance are allowed to stand open.

It's getting late, but Reveka still hasn't got used to the altitude, weather and time changes of the Southern Continent yet. She's visited before, but never for this long. And tonight seems to be extra hot and extra humid and sleep has been evasive. So, slipping out of the generous guest room that Amani has been letting her stay in, she makes her way to the living caverns in search of some cool tea, and maybe a late night snack. Given the heat, she's only donned a short pair of shorts and a thin, wispy tank top of deep maroon. Her sandals complete the outfit and her hair is tossed into a bun to get it off her neck. Once there, she'll stand at the sideboards staring, one hand up around the back of her neck while the other arm is tucked neatly under her breasts. She chews at her lower lip as if having a hard time deciding what to eat, and she is.

Th'res just like burning the late night oil as it were, he steps in from the inner caverns. Toweling off his hair as he has just come from the baths, or thereabouts at least. He is wearing his swim shorts and a pair of thong sandals and that is about it. Moving over to where the drinks are set out he pours himself a mug of Klah and adds light sprinkling of creamer and sugar. He moves next to the woman and says "The spring rolls are rather good for a late night snack, won't leave you feeling heavy in the stomach and make you oversleep."

Reveka rubs the back of her neck as she searches, thought process split in two, one on finding food, the other thousands of miles off in deep thought land. So, when Th'res walks up, she doesn't really notice until he speaks. Jumping a little, she whips her head around, klah colored eyes seeming far off and needing a second to focus. "Hmm? What was that?" She asks, having not quite heard his suggestion, and looking apologetic about it.

"The spring rolls, they make for a great late snack. Add some tea with them and most people end up feeling sleepy in about an hour." Comes the repeated suggestion from Th'res. He gives her a welcoming smile, but his eyes never leave hers or more precisely just above hers where he seems to be focusing. "Sorry, didn't mean to butt in but you seemed a bit lost.. I am Th'res." He says offering his hand to the lady.

Reveka smiles widely at the rider once his former words are made clear. "Oh." She laughs softly. "Thanks. I don't think I was even thinking about the food to be honest, but I'll take your advice and try it anyway. I need to eat something." She holds out a long, willowy arm with a long fingered, graceful hand at the end, though her palms are rough, and have seen hard work. "Reveka, well met Th'res sir." She shakes his hand daintily before withdrawing it and beginning a plate for herself. That Th'res keeps his eyes upwards gets him respect points, most men can't, or won't. "Are you a night avian too sir? Or just burning the midnight glows, as it were?" The distraction from her own thoughts is most welcome.

Th'res nods his own hand just as rough so it seems like a nice fit that handshake. "Oh I just like to bath late, less people about so I can actually relax." He gives her another warm smile asking "How about you? Are you visiting or newly transferred?" Because he is just as nosey as his dragon when it comes to meeting people, a very bad habit it seems he has acquired.

Reveka grins. "Aye, a late night bath alone, or close to it, can be a blessing." Reveka knows, growing up in a caravan, there's no privacy really. "I didn't use to be…" She says of being a night avian, "but it seems to be a developing trend these days." As for the rest… "I'm visiting Weyrwoman Amani, she's a dear friend, I'm from Igen." She leaves other details left unsaid, some to painful to give, some just held back because it's refreshing to meet someone and not have them judge you.

Th'res grins wide when she talks of who she is visiting "That is great! Little sister needs some good friends about lately. Do you two know each other from the Zingari?" Yup sorry Reveka you just got his full attention, and that of the dragon who keeps dropping in to listen.

Well, so much for keeping identities on the low down. Reveka blushes and moves on to pour herself a cup of tea, nodding. "Aye, she was a member of our caravan." Little sister? The moniker causes Reveka to raise a brow at the rider before her. She doesn't ask, but she's sure there's a story there somewhere.

Th'res grins "Well then welcome to Southern Weyr officially, and if you see a blue dragon following you that would be mine. He is fascinated with the 'desert people' as he calls folks from Igen." He turns to head to a vacant table saying "You are welcome to join me if you like, or were you planning on heading back up to where ever it is you are staying?"

Reveka chuckles. "I'll keep that in mind." She looks to the table offered and chews a bit on the inside of her cheek as she thinks about it. She had been planning on taking her food back to her guest room, but this man has been so friendly and to be honest, the conversation has been nice. "I can join you, if you want me to." She begins to head toward the table then, slipping lightly into one of it's chairs before sipping at her tea.

Th'res nods and smiles waiting for her to sit before he does the same, blowing slightly on his mug he asks "How long will you be staying? I would feel shame if I didn't offer a friend of Amani's at least a tour of the area if she hasn't already decided on taking you out." He sips is Klah before again looking above the woman's eyes as to keep eye contact but not make her feel uncomfortable.

Reveka chuckles. "This isn't my first visit to Southern, but I'm here longer this time than any other. I've seen some of the sights, though I appreciate the offer and would take you up on it." She smiles and pops a spring roll into her mouth, surprised at how good it tastes.

Th'res nods leaning back in his chair "Well any time you want just send word, though I am sure Zymuraith can find Jed anywhere. Clutch siblings are strange that way." He won't mention the fact that ANYONE can find Jedameth if they just listen for the loudest dragon, best not to scare her off just yet.

Reveka nods as she finishes her bite and swallows a bit of tea. "Aye, I will. What is Jed short for, if you don't mind me asking?" She eats another spring roll while waiting for his answer, noticing that at least her conversational skills haven't waned with her self-induced solitude.

"Jedameth, he is my blue, largest one here at Southern I am told, but don't tell him that. Bad enough he finally talked me into getting him a hat because he did good in fall." There is a rue full expression on his face while he adds "Word of warning though he is a talker and he is loud.." comes the very sage advice from the red headed man. "Though he has gotten better about it, so you might be spared that form of surprise. Still don't know how Amani and the others put up with us during weyrlinghood though, they should all get a raise for that." Th'res blushes slightly when he realizes he has steam rolled the conversation and babbled on about his dragon, clearing his throat he says "Well now that I have gone and gushed about my dragon and his antics, how about telling me about you? Amani talks of her old life rarely these days and it is nice to find someone who might have a good story to tell about her."

Reveka happily listens to Th'res talk about his dragon, it's refreshing to hear it, anything but what she'd been hearing back home. "He talks to people?" Reveka didn't know that dragons did that, beyond their own riders that is. She gives a chuckle when he mentions their weyrlinghood and sighs. When asked about Amani, a bit of mischievousness comes over Reveka and she gives a secretive smile. Tsk. Tsk. Sir rider, besties don't tell! "I do believe Amani might skin me were I to divulge her tales and secrets good sir and I would be a poor friend indeed were I to give them without her knowing." She winks and continues her meal. "And as far as me…I'm a dancer, and contortionist and a sort of healer in training, though it isn't craft medicine." Just the simple facts, those are easy…

Just the facts is just fine with Th'res. Though the scolding does gain another red cheeked blush and dip of the head from the stalwart man. "She probably would, and me along with it for receiving such information." Je sips his Klah more before adding with a genuine relieved look "I really am glad you are here though. Amani has had a rough go of things lately and it is good to know she has someone she can fully open up too." Turning his head he looks at Reveka but this time his blue eyes lock with hers as he gives her a smile and says "So thank you for looking after our friend."

If only Th'res knew it was actually Amani looking after Reveka…but she isn't here to talk about herself, much. "It is nice to see her, we miss her up North. And I am honored to be a source of comfort for her in times of need." And she is there for Amani when she can be…or was before, she's trying to be better at it again. She's finished the spring rolls and contents herself sipping her tea until it's gone. "It was nice talking to you Th'res, and nicer yet meeting you. But I really did just come down for something to eat and a drink." And she wants to take a long walk before heading back to what is hopefully sleep in her bed.

Th'res nods and will finish his own mug as well. He stands and gathers both of there dishes to take to kitchen for drop off. When he returns he will give her a bow at the waist saying "Thank you for the lovely conversation. I hope we can do it again sometime." He straightens and gives her a smile "I am sure you don't need one but i have to ask of you would like an escort back to where you stay? If only so i know you are taken care of."

Reveka shakes her head softly, returning Th'res' bow, since she doesn't have a skirt to curtsy. "No, I'll be fine, but thank you very much for offering. My quarters aren't far from here." She chuckles and tucks a hair behind her ear before shoving her hands in her pockets and turning, looking at Th'res from over her shoulder. "Besides, haven't you heard? Zingari women are just as deadly with a knife as they are beautiful and mysterious." She laughs and meanders off, waving a goodbye to the friendly bluerider.
