Poseidon's War Room

Being the son of a wealthy merchant has had it's perks. Try'stan's Istan weyr had been lavishly furnished by his merchant family, so, all of it came to Igen with him. A rich red rug covers the stone floor of the weyr, wild black patterns dancing across it's surface. Try's happened to luck out and the main room of his weyr is not lacking in square footage, rather like standing in a large cave. Try'stan has carved deep shelves into the back wall of his weyr, into which, he has placed a host of Istan plants, so that the wall looks covered in vegitation, green from ceiling to floor. Braziers are kept in niches along the green wall, for steaming, keeping the weyr humid for the plants. In front of this wall is a long table made of driftwood, stained a dark cherry. Six high backed chairs sit around this table, they are also made of drift wood, and deeply padded, upholstered in deep red velvet. On the opposite wall, a window is cut for a view of the central skies. Outwardly, metal shutters have been installed for protection from thread. Inwardly, a fine sheet of glass has been put in the window and it is covered with heavy black drapes. A sitting area is also set up, two couches of black velvet and two red velvet love seats, arranged neatly around a driftwood klah table. A hat and coat rack stands next to the door, hosting Try'stan's riding jacket and helmet. Portraits of his family hang on his walls, painted in great detail. A small kitchen area is set up in the weyr as well. Cabinetry is built into the corner, along with a cooking brazier and shelving for liquor and food. If a person looks up, they will see a wooden platform overhead, well built and serving as Try's bedroom. A finely made armoire and dresser are up there, as well as a standing mirror, a wash basin and a shaving vanity. His bed is a monstrous thing, well made and soft as down, though firm enough for good sleep. The need for such a large bed is immediately apparent, as it is suspended from the cieling by chains. One would need to sleep in the middle to avoid falling off, a catwalk in the form of a rope bridge leads to it.

Dawn comes early for most around here, but for Try'stan, well, dawn is mid morning. He's been busy, having washed and oiled Drychnath, done his morning workout routine and made a run for breakfast, which sits steaming on the table as he reads letters from home. A glass of juice sits half empty before Try'stan, collecting condensation. Try'stan reaches for the glass and drinks, smacking his lips in satisfaction over the tart aftertaste.

The first thought that comes to Selaine's mind is that she has a pounding headache. The second is that her bed feels much softer than usual. Bleary blue eyes slowly begin to peek open and the greenrider is slightly confused by her surroundings. This.. did not look like her own weyr. Her thoughts reached out to her green, who reminded her of the previous night's events. There's a soft 'Oh!' as she quickly sits up, face flushing, only to find out that that was a bad idea. She falls back onto the bed with a groan and looks down to see her naked body beneath the sheets, eliciting more color to her cheeks. It was clear that she had drunk way too much the previous night.

"Good morning!" Try's shouts from below, his hearing is very keen. "Be careful not to fall out m'dear." Try'stan sets his letters aside. "I have a lovely juice concoction down here sold by the Zingari that's sure to erase the ache you must have in your head." Someone is in a good mood this morning and it shows in the light timbre of his voice. "Breakfast too if you want it." Speaking of, Try's piles a plate with meatrolls and eggs.

At the sound of the bronzerider's voice, Selaine can feel herself heat up, her mind starting to recall the previous evening's events much clearer the more her mind was waking up. Well, she couldn't really say she regretted it, if she was honest. In any case, she lets out a soft sigh, thinking that juice sounded lovely just then, and slowly makes for the edge, being careful as Try'stan warns. She slightly remembered her awe of the set-up the previous night. A quick search reveals her clothing and she slowly dons them on before making her way down. Seeing Try'stan, she offers him a small smile. "Good morning… juice and breakfast sound lovely." she tells him, eyeing the table with a quick glance at him. "You seem like you've been up a while." she comments before taking a seat.

Try'stan chuckles. "I am at heart, a man of the sea. Shipments sail before dawn, I am a man of routine." Try'stan pushes a decanter and a glass at Selaine before digging into his food. "I trust you slept well?" Try'stan raises a brow as he cuts some bread and covers it in a thick spread. Outside, Drychnath is waking from a nap to greet the dawn, his shifting as he moves from couch to ledge can be heard. Try's rolls his eyes. Noisy bronze!! The bronzer's attention returns to his food and his breakfast guest. "I have a rest day today, feel free to stay as long as you like."

Selaine nods with understanding. Normally she would be up already… but as it was, she likely wouldn't have woken up until much later if it weren't for her pounding headache. Try'stan's question is responded with a light chuckle. "Mm… as well as one can sleep with a … hangover, is that what they call it?" She rubs at her temples for a moment before glancing over towards where the bronze is moving, wincing slightly from the loud noise. "Thank you…" she replies. "I wouldn't want to impose so I'll be out of your hide soon enough."

Try'stan smiles. "Selaine, you are not imposing." Try's flashes a Cheshire grin. "I enjoyed your company last night and I shall not mind at all if you wish to continue gracing me with it." A few more bites disappear into the bronze rider's mouth. "Drink up m'dear, I guarantee that headache will be gone instantly."

A flush appears on Selaine's cheeks as she takes the glass and takes a sip, smiling somewhat shyly behind the glass. The tartness of the juice did wonders for her headache, in addition to being quite refreshing. "Well, at least remind me to not drink as much… I'd rather not have these sort of mornings each time." There's a light laugh before she takes a few bites. At least said hangover isn't messing with her appetite.

Try'stan laughs along with Selaine, though his eyebrow goes up at the words 'each time'. "I shall try to remember that." Try'stan takes a deep drink of his juice and shovels more food into his face, eating properly is important!! "I quite enjoyed myself last night, I hope you did too."

Selaine offers him a wider smile, headache dulling and belly filling up. "Yes… I did. Very much so." she replies, glancing back up at the hanging bed as she continues to help herself to the food. "How did you manage that, anyway?" she asks, gesturing towards the bed, not quite remembering if she'd asked him the previous night or not. There were some bits that were still fuzzy. Either way, there were more memorable moments to keep her mind occupied.

Try'stan flicks his gaze upward, eyes roving across the bed and the platform above them. "Very carefully…" He replies as his gaze roams back towards Selaine. "And with lots of help. I spent the better part of eight or nine sevens remodeling my weyr to match the one I left behind." Try's grins. "As I said, I am a man of routine. I like consistency on my life."

"That long?" Selaine muses as her gaze lingers on the bed and platform before directing it toward Try'stan. "Consistency is good in many aspects." she responds, with a small smile. "Though change is also good." the greenrider adds before taking another sip of the juice.

Try'stan smiles. "Aye, some change is good. I am not against it, but some things don't have to change." Try's finally pushes his food away and sits drinking the last of his juice. He points upwards with a grin. "It's also practical, my design, it saves space. And it has become quite the novelty topic of conversation when I have guests."

At that, Selaine laughs. "Exhibit A." and she gestures to herself, still making her way through her plate of food. "But yes, it definitely gives you a lot more space." she comments, eyes glancing around the weyr, not having really had the chance last night. Blue eyes focus on the bronzerider once more. "How long ago did you Impress?" she asks, curious.

"About nine turns ago, coming up on ten." Try'stan sighs happily. "I love being a rider, Drychnath is a piece of me I didn't know I was missing until I impressed." Try's leans forward, resting his arms upon the table. "How long has it been for you?" Try'stan ought to get to know more of his wing mates, he should know these things.

Selaine smiles, understanding exactly how Try'stan feels, remembering the day she Impressed as though it were yesterday. When the bronzerider asks her the same question, she tries to calculate how long ago it had been. "Mm… coming up to 3 Turns soon." she replies, pushing her plate away as she leans back in her seat. "Still feels like I was still a weyrling just the other day. I had certainly never expected to Impress…"

Try'stan nods and smiles. "It's funny how the time flies isn't it?" Try'stan refills his drink and offers the pitcher to Selaine.

Selaine takes the offered pitcher to refill her glass. "Indeed it does. And it's been just about as long as I've been at the weyr…" The greenrider is thoughtful for a moment. "Do you have a lot of family? I remember you said you came from Ista… are they all there?"

Try'stan nods, a hand running through his hair. "I have quite a large family, and all of them at Ista or Ista hold. " Try's takes a drink, savoring the taste of the juice. "What about you? Large family?"

Selaine shakes her head. "No… it was just me and my parents…" Here her mood turns somewhat somber. "And yet I haven't spoken to them since I Impressed." She lets out a sigh but does her best to put a smile back on. "I've always wanted a big family. The kids my age at the hold were like my siblings though so it was similar… but not completely the same, I'd imagine."

Try'stan shrugs. "Family is an odd concept, you have the family you're related to and then the family you choose. Sometimes the family you choose is more like real family than your genetic counterparts." Try's leans back in his chair and sips from his juice. "If you don't mind me asking, why haven't you spoken to your parents?"

Family indeed was an odd concept. At Try’stan’s question, Selaine looks down into her glass of juice. “Well, like I’d mentioned previously, they’re incredibly traditional folk. When I had gotten Searched, I sent home one letter letting them know about it. They replied several days later telling me that I have no need to be their daughter if I ever Impressed.” Her voice became thicker as she spoke. “They’ve never written to me since. And honestly… I don’t have the courage to try and go home to them.” She lets out a short laugh. “It’s not as though we were a tight-knit family… in any case.”

"Sorry to hear that." Try'stan looks sympathetic. "My family is so tight knit we know if someone farts in the next hold." Try'stan laughs. "But they come with their fare share of issues too, so I can understand where you're coming from." Try's stands, beginning to clear his dirty dishes to a tub that had been left for such purposes. "Would you like anything else? I can have more brought up if you want."

Selaine laughs lightly at Try’stan’s comment. “I’m sure every family does.” she adds, standing up when he does to clear her own dishes. There’s a shake of her head at his question. “Oh no… I’ve had plenty. Thank you very much… And it’s about time I get going. Unlike you, I do not have a rest day today so I should be getting to my duties soon.”

Try’stan nods, a light smile gracing his face. “Of course, I should have expected that you would be on duty today.” Try’stan comes around to stand in front of Selaine, and if allowed, wraps an arm around her waist and gives her a gentle kiss. “It was very nice having your company for the night, and for breakfast. I do hope you come to visit again some time soon.” And with that, Try’s releases Selaine with a smile, thoughts of going for a run going through his head. “Would you like me to walk you out?”

And so she does allow, though the kiss does catch her somewhat off guard. Regardless, Selaine returns it and smiles up at him as he pulls away. “I’ll definitely try my best.” she replies to his request. His question is answered with a nod. “I would like that.” And so the two are soon out of the weyr and part with a chaste kiss on the cheek from Selaine before calling her lifemate to her to take her away to her duties.
