"Well, he shoved the knot down my shirt! What was I supposed to do? And it wasn't /all/ of the buttons."

Ohanaveth’s Common Room

This weyr is clean. Incredibly so. Not a speck of dust on the floor, not a chair out of line, not a single item out of place. The cages on the far wall are lined up on their shelves per type of occupant they contain. Bottom shelves for the tunnel snake and the top for the fire lizard and little birds. Each cage contains a stick, regardless of it's occupant, all sticks are parallel with the ground, at the same height in the cage and even looking inside each cage, whatever mess the animal has made must be new as everything is immaculately tidy. Unused cages sit next to the shelving system in a little tower of their own.
A large broom wood tree table sits in the exact center of the arching room, chairs tucked in neatly and a small square marked in the middle of the table where salt and pepper shakers can be seen. The alcove housing the kitchen is marked with a line, as if detonating where living cavern ended and kitchen began. In fact, at a further inspection, it might be noted that every doorway has a line just in front of the entrance, marking a segregation of space. Shelves around the room had a tendency to be organized from largest item to smallest and are lined up along the walls, giving the center of the cavern a significant amount of open space.
Finally, tucked away into a corner is a couch, blankets folded neatly crossed the back and a single pillow sits proudly in the middle. There is a rectangle marked on the ground around this couch, a two feet from the couch on all edges; a suggestion that this item is no longer apart of the rest of the room. A few arm chairs sit in another corner, a little coffee table and side desk still sit open to rest of the cavern.

It is the seventy-seventh day of Summer and 105 degrees. It is sunny and bright. White fluffy clouds drift lazily across the china blue sky.

It's the evening following the tapping ceremony of Southern's (ex)weyrlings, but for some there is still celebrating to do! Because last night Hal was probably plowing Vani's fields or whatever so it wasn't really a great time to hang out. A'ndi received a dinner invitation via Caelisth to Tali, and so here they are back at the ol' shipweyr. Once his rider is dismounted, Taliveth begins rolling around in the grass because reasons. A'ndi, with a basket of dinner rolls that he MADE HIMSELF GUYS, approaches and knocks. Hello? Anybody home and not naked right now?

LOOK NEITHER OF THEM ARE NAKED. Hal looks happier than any man deserves to be though as he pulls open the door beaming. "Come come~" and he's just going to shuffle A'ndi into the room. An invitation was issued to D'ex too, but alas, the former pirate isn't in attendance. "Vani! A'ndi is here."

he's too busy trying to keep Zynth from conquering all of Siberian wing

A'ndi may have had the day off, but Vani was not so lucky. Although given the condition she achieved during weyrlinghood, it wasn't particularly strenuous…at least not compared to the night before at least~ Lalala but this is now, and she is puttering around the Shipweyr, having taken some time to visit Igen in between all the things she has had to do today. "Hey!" She relates to Taliveth's rider in a slightly different way than Hal, but it is a warm greeting none the less, with a smile no less happy than A'halis, for all that it is a little shyer. Whenever her hands are unoccupied, her fingers go to the ring on her finger, twisting and exploring and slowly getting used to the thing that shows no signs of EVER being taken off.

A'ndi is shuffled! Normally such a thing would be frowned upon, but this is Hal, there is no frowning for him. But A'hali does get the basket of rolls shoved into his arms. HERE TAKE THIS. Vani gets a wave and a casual, "Hey there." It's a lot warmer than what most people get. The ring is kind of hard to miss and so, looking between the two of them, he's just gonna tackle this head on. "So you two are… what, 'married' now?" Quote-y fingers included. "Like Francis and whatshisface?"

A table with finger foods exists between the sofa and another chair. A'hali sets the rolls down into the middle of it and messes things around so it all looks GOOD AGAIN. He'll nod for A'ndi's question - "Weyrmated. As official as riders can get."

Vani snorts. "We're riders. We can't get married." Just ignore that goofy look she gives A'hali. "We're weyrmated." Which is totally different and there are differences okay? Never mind the echo effect. When I said she was puttering around the shipweyr, I meant the kitchen specifically. She's not forgotten her promise to A'ndi to make him some Igen-style curry, which is currently gloop-gloop-gloop'ing in a pot by the fire (think Tagine). It can keep til all the social chit-chat is done with. "How's K'vvan?" Cos that is someone else they have in common now~

A'ndi is gonna make himself comfy on one end of that sofa. This was once home, afterall. "Well. Congratulations. I mean, you pretty much were already, but. I guess its official now." He eyes the finger foods, and there's a loud honk from outside. Taliveth approves of the selection. A'ndi glances up at Vani's question, arching a brow in response. "K'vvan? Avoidant. Is that normal, or is it because his dragon is about to burst into flames?" aka proddy-as-fffffff. But before even waiting for answer, he mumbles, "… Something smells really good."

It's STILL HOME if A'ndi wants it to be. There just, uh, isn't a place for his dragon to sleep unless Ohanaveth escapes to the top of the ship rather than inside. "Is Nadeeth'd proddy?" A'hali wasn't paying attention. He's been allll wrapped up in his own little sweet life. "Don't know him well."

Vani grins. "I like him, he's an asshole. And probably, apparently green dragons like nothing better than to fuck with their riders." Or get their riders fucked~ Thankfully Caelisth is still a few months away from such malarkey. Anyway, enough of that pleasantness. "Thank you." It is said quietly, but with a bit of feeling behind it, even as she comes into the little conversational circle. Caelisth might not want to share the top of the shipweyr… Although apparently she's okay with Taliveth enough to invite him on up. The stars will be out soon (lol dragons can't tell time). "It smells even better when it is done." Which isn't quite yet.

"Oh! Tell you about the cistern?" A'hali's REALLY PROUD OF THAT THING OKAY? He stands up and is totally going to go SHOW OFF the running-ish water~~~

"Yeah, Taliveth says she is. Kind of a weird way to meet your wingleader, when they're proddy…" Not gonna talk about that whole unbuttoning thing. Meanwhile, Taliveth is totally going to accept that invitation and snuggle with Caelisth and watch the stars and talk about how amazing Vulheimurath is. They could live like this every day, right? A'hali's sudden excitement gets a blink out of A'ndi, unused to seeing that from the other brownrider. He leaves the couch to go investigate more closely. "You made a cistern…?"

Vani blushes at the mention of the cistern…"It's handy…except when it's not. Do you want a single person bath for your weyr?" Cryptic explanation and slightly odd question out of the way she's gunna amble along to watch Hal show off his creation with pride. "No what's weird is you popping all the buttons on your top…" Oh they're talking about that unbuttoning. And they are talking about it now.

A'hali super proudly shows off how it like, let’s water flow when you turn this little thing. "Have to fill by hand when there isn't rain." But it's good since Southern has like, four months straight where it does nothing BUT rain. But wait, a new topic. Turning A'hali peers, "Popping buttons?" This is a thing A'hali wants to know.

A'ndi is in fact thoroughly impressed with A'hali's handiwork. He even paws at the running water like a curious kitty. SO COOL. "A single-person bath? Sure, I guess…? Why?" Vani gets the side-eye. But oh, we're talking about the buttons now. A'ndi flusters only slightly. "Well, he shoved the knot down my shirt! What was I supposed to do? And it wasn't /all/ of the buttons." Harumph.

A'NDI CAN COME OUT HE IS WITH FRIENDS.

NO NO IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK GUYS-

While Vani is watching A'hali demonstrate, she'll just stay over here, away from the flowing water. She already knows how it works… She's happy enough fiddling with her ring. Pretty ring (Is it pretty IDK? Really wasn't expecting her to have it yet). "It looked like A'ndi was about to strip for K'vvan." And considering Vani knows how K'vvan swings…she's looking at A'ndi with a great deal of interest (but not the sexy kind, that's for Hal), especially when he starts making those lame excuses. "Uh-huh…" Vani is TOTALLY convinced. TOTALLY. But she'll not press, instead she answers the question about the bath. "The one Hal got is too small, if I can find a home for it, I figure we can get a bigger one." A'ndi DID ASK!

A'hali peers at A'ndi in a way that could be slightly weird because it's super intense and doesn't lead to words right away. A glance towards Vani about that bath and a ghost of a smile slips along A'hali's lips. It'll have to be a HELLA BIG tub if Vani expects Hal to sit with her in it. "Do you fancy K'vvan?" Just putting that out there, not awkward at all, right?!

NOT BIG, just deep, he has a lap right?

Ahahahaha~

"Too small? For bath sex, right?" A'ndi says with a smirk. I mean if we're gonna poke fun at each other! "Anyway, if you don't want it, sure, I'll take it. I don't have a lot in my weyr anyway so…." But he trails off at A'hali's look. And just stares back in silence like, what? His question gets the SUPER AWKWARD SILENCE that it deserves. There is a fleeting look in A'ndi's blue eyes of a deer in headlights, but it's quickly replaced with something much colder. "Of course not. Why would you even ask that? I mean, first of all it'd be super unprofessional, and second…" He doesn't even say and just kinda handflaps, like that fills in the blanks.

Vani returns A'hali's smile with one of her own, and a flicker of a wink. Too much more of this, and A'ndi might start feeling like a third wheel, so she pulls her gaze away to blink at A'ndi a couple of times. Very very innocently. "Of course." He's essentially just confirmed her suspicions, but she'll say nothing. If he want's A'ndi can even interpret that 'of course' being about the bath sex rather than the other things he stammered out. "You hurt him, and I'll hurt you." THAT'S TOTALLY MORE BATHSEX TALK OKAY? "I'm going to check on dinner, it should almost be ready."

Right and A'hali is going to blush, but it's a I-love-my-weyrmate-blush so it isn't quite as adorable as his blushes usually are. Not quite so innocent and everything. Lifting up a hand A'hali scratches at the side of his head. "There's nothing wrong, especially if she is proddy." He's trying to be gentle about it. A sideglance at Vani, "What if he hurts A'ndi? He is…" A'hali and K'vvan don't run in the same circles (IT IS SO WEIRD TO TALK ABOUT MY ALT LIKE I DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THIM) So A'hali only knows the greenrider by his prickly reputation.

C'mon, ya'll know A'ndi is used to all this smiling and winking and blushing. And NOISES. Being a third wheel doesn't bother him. But this K'vv-focused conversation is another story. A'ndi closes his eyes and pinches at the bridge of his nose. "Look. I appreciate your concern-" according to his tone, he really doesn't "-but no one is hurting anyone because it's not a thing." A deep breath is taken. Very deep. And then he spouts out suddenly, "Where the fuck is D'ex? Didn't you invite him too?" Can't we just talk about the pirate now?

this is just like a real family dinner ;_;

Vani shakes her head even as she heads back into the kitchen. "I'll explain it later…but…" More emphatic head shaking. Vani knows everyone! YAY HER! "Uh-huh." Vani still totally believes everything A'ndi is saying, even as the clatter of crockery and stuff announces that she is dishing up. Loudly (family dinner enough for you now?). "Probably cheating at cards or something equally important." While she isn't as salty as she used to be about the bluerider, there is still some residual saltiness, like the rim of a margarita glass….OOOH DRINKS! "Do you want anything to drink A'ndi? Hal?" Because judging from the change of sounds coming from the kitchen, Vani is sorting herself out! YAY BOOZE!

A'hali will totally make moves to go after Vani, but not before stopping A'ndi, "Always here to listen." Just in case it's more a thing than A'ndi is pretending it isn't a thing. Then he'll clap A'ndi on the back (hopefully it doesn't hurt), and usher him back into the main living area. "Didn't hear back, Ohanaveth didn't want to keep bothering Zynth." The blue is coooollldddd against Ohanaveth's humid jungles. "Ale!" Of course. Because Hal loves himself some smooth drink. "Any plans now you are free?" That's for both of them so this doesn't stay an INTERROGATE A'NDI scene.

"He better not be gambling," A'ndi grumbles. For whatever reason, he has really committed himself to mothering D'ex into submission. A'hali's offer of kindness and support and being there and all the wonderful things a friend does gets a weary sigh in response. He's not going to argue. The back-clap snaps him out of it and sends him stumbling a couple steps, merging into being escorted back out to the living room. "Yes," is his simple response to the offer of a drink because he will need at least one to survive this family get together. "… I'm going to go back to Southern Barrier soon. Show Taliveth to my family. They really want to meet him."

"Yes really doesn't help. Ale, whiskey…wine…" Because Vani totally has ALL the kinds of alcohol. There is a playful scowl at A'ndi even as she brings out ale for Hal and returns to the kitchen. Is A'ndi aware of the treat he is in for? Vani doesn't cook often… but when she does, all her turns as a kitchen hand really come shining through. There is more clattering of plates and cutlery as she sets the table. Three plates appear along with a bowl of fluffy river grains, and that tagine full of spicy Igen-style curried wherry. Just a few more trips see her bring a bowl of chopped herbs, and a jug of tangy yoghurt. "It's ready." Because they should at least eat if A'ndi is coming to dinner. "I went to Igen specifically to get something just for you." She nods her head at the tagine with a bit of mischief, before taking a sip from her own smoky amber glass.

"You know he probably is." A'hali is trying to lower A'ndi's expectations for the ex-pirate, because some things simply don't change. People are PEOPLE and D'ex is D'EX. A'hali's chair complains when he sits in it, but it's a GOOD CHAIR made by the brownrider himself and thus it can take his weight. Politely Hal waits for Vani and A'ndi to settle before digging in. Because let's be honest, Hal is ALWAYS HUNGRY.

The chopped herbs are totally mint FYI

"Surprise me," is the kind of drink he wants. Yes, A'ndi is one of THOSE people. Upon approaching the table and seeing Vani's whole set up, the brownrider gazes upon it in wide-eyed, Taliveth-level wonder. "You didn't have to go through the trouble…" is his way of saying thank you. He settles himself at the table and, trying to contain his excitement to something civilized, dishes himself out a portion with all the fixins'. Apparently A'ndi gets the gist of how to throw this together. His first bite; there is silence. A long silence followed by a slowly growing smile. And then, popping into A'hali and Vani's brainspace is a sudden KABOOM of psychedelic space light and an astonished, « WOW! » Cause if A'ndi won't say anything, Tali will.

Vani grins, even as Taliveth explodes into her awareness, she's kind of used to it after the past turn or so. "It's a little taste of home." She 'your welcome's' his 'thank you' in similar manner before ducking into the kitchen one last time to grab a pitcher of milk…A'ndi did say to surprise him! Do not dispair A'ndi there is some booze for you too! Another whiskey is produced before she settles herself down in a seat close enough that she can wrap a leg over one of A'hali's under the table all subtle like. "If you like, I can teach you how to make it." Cos you're FAMBILY NOW A'NDI.

A'hali has to wave at his mouth a bit cuz SPICY but he isn't going to complain. Instead he'll grab his ale and have it help turn down the spicy. (If Ale does that. Which maybe it doesn't?! I DO NOT KNOW.) Everything about this little domestic scene is just perfect for A'hali and he gives Vani a small hand squeeze out of sight. "About travelling…" And from there the conversation will flow easily between the old friends, even if it occasionally gets interrupted by Taliveth's bursts, Caelisth's sense, or Ohanaveth's wry interjections. After all, they're part of this little family too. <3
