Beach

An eerie mirror, the glass-quiet Sea of Azov: the clear waters stretch along the dark-pebbled shores, and along this narrow beach. Here the faintest lap of waves belies the calm beyond; here the rocks have been ground down into finest, softest sand - those observant would mark upon the similarity between it and the sands of the hatching grounds. The soft sand soaks up summer sunlight as a sponge; painfully hot during the warmer months, it is only truly pleasant at wintertime. Rocks rise to east and west, lichen-limned and green against the abyssal darkness of stone.

It may not be a bright and sunny day, what with the clouds covering most of the sky, but the days are warmer and the Weyrfolk are spending more time at the beach when they aren't on duties. Talya is one of those, though not for washing off the smell of firestone that she had been dutifully bagging earlier today. It may have been her goal but then there were distractions. Like a broody gold firelizard angrily hissing at a young brown dragon's nose that is trying to get a good look at her clutch of eggs. "She's been jealous this whole time and hiding her clutch of eggs!" They are out in the open now, hard and wobbling in their nest, with other firelizards joining in to start a hum going even if the mother is still spitting angrily.

Green Jade Egg is totally shaking and about to hatch soon and stuff.

Evening's Purple Egg also is shaking and cracking. We got eggs hatching!

Jaune did not barter well today. He did secure a shipment of a bushel of very nice redfruits. But he did not do it very well. He is here, consoling himself out for a long nice walk on the beach. A brown resting around his neck languidly like a living scarf. Who wakes up at the hum and is gone. For no reason! Thinks the young man, until he chases him down to find all the excitement.

Enter one extremely glowy green, her chartreuse hide almost painful in it's brightness as Haquith wings down to the beach, trilling loudly so no one misses her entrance. Once she's landed, her round eyes peer at those gathered, a flirty warble aimed at the young brown while Alyna dismounts. Dressed in a white, breezy sundress cut off above her knee, a pair of strappy sandals and a light jacket overtop, the threadscore on her left leg is partially visible, but doesn't seem to impede her movement. With a roll of her eyes at the green's antics, she strides over to Talya with a weak grin as she pulls a meatroll from her pocket and begins munching on it. She seems to be always hungry, even this early in her pregnancy, and has taken to carrying snacks with her wherever she goes. "Ohhh, lookee here, more little mouths to feed," she remarks before peering at her friend.

Brown Klah Egg may have moved. Maybe. You had to have been looking carefully.

And perhaps one not-gllowing green (thank Faranth) who seems determined to head for the water at the earliest possible opportunity: Jiagairanth practically dumps N'yulo into the incoming waves and is off, ignoring his rolling eyes and heavily sarcastic thanks for her 'help'. Giving up on getting a polite response from her N'yulo will head to shore, eyeing the group already there somewhat wryly. Nobody saw that uncool entrance, right? RIGHT? Daigoro appears like magic at the news of new baby firelizards (don't ask how he knew) and croons softly, circliinng overhead out of reach of that hissing queen. Nope. Not getting close. "Huh." opines the slim greenrider, peerinng at the eggs curiously.

Talya shoves at her dragon's muzzle away from the angry firelizard, just in case Beast decides that hatching eggs aren't as important and wants to get a swipe at the nosey dragon. Thankfully Haquith's arrival makes him turn away, giving the glowing green a warm bugle in return. If people were not looking this way yet, they probably are now as well. Two dragons can really stir up some noise, and Turahaimajusuth is not one to shy away from social settings. "Not my mouths to feed," snaps Talya, then looks apologetically to her friend. "Sorry. I mean, if I knew she had them I'd have sold them all off by now. Not that I have any time with training. Now they're all going to go wild instead. What a waste for her first clutch." She looks over at the approaching crowd, and a few people lingering in the background. "Get on over here with some food!" she calls to Jaune and N'yulo. One would think she's the hissing gold, or a proddy green. There are eggs already popping, some wandering off to other weyrfolk, some even wandering far. Still, eggs are shaking.

Green Jade Egg shatters into a thousand fragments, leaving its occupant out in the open.
Steady as the Beating Drum Brown Hatchling
Mahogany tips this brown firelizard's headknobs, quickly shifting to a copper over his distinguished face and melting into tan over the majority of his body. The ombre effect ends down his back and hindlegs into a pleasant wheat. There is a distinctive paler color around his neck in almost the form of a necklace. His wings, like most of his body, are aerodynamic, the better to sweep with the wind rather than cutting through it, fast and agile, darkened reddened-brown sails matching the tips of his head.

Jaune had at least brought food for his walk, tucked away into a leather satchel that beat time with him on his walk. He does manage to find his brown flitter hovering and watching the ensuing hatching. A grin for Talya's insistent words and welcoming wave. So he'll shift onto a knee near the hatching sands to observe for now. At the brown's hatching, Jaune's firelizard settles down atop his head, claws curling around his shoulders.

Brown Klah Egg gives another little shake. A wiggle. And then lies still again.

Steady as the Beating Drum Brown Hatchling lies still in the remains of his egg-explosion, peering out at all the big shapes around him with slowly whirling eyes. Taking in all these new and strange surroundings… It's certainly a big world to explore, but he is going to decide his own path when he's ready.

"That's too bad, you could have gotten a nice bag of marks for all these," Alyna replies before taking another bite of her meatroll, crumbs flaking off and drifting to the sand. Her own two, gold Jem and bronze Comet show up and add their voices to the humming as she looks over at her green who is sidling up to Turahaimajusuth with a sultry sway of her hindquarters. This brings a frown of irritation to the greenrider, "Oh for Faranth's sake, he's too young, how many times do I have to tell you that." There's a buzz of irritability about Alyna as she crouches to settle herself on the sand, the meatroll reluctantly crumbled into little pieces that are tossed in the direction of the hatching eggs.

Squint. Is he being bossed abou by a weyrling? "Take charge type, are ya?" N'yulo will snort in amusement at the cheek of Talya — good thing he's disinclined to grumble! Instead, he'll just amble on closer to the group, because curiosity will provide the prod for him. Absently, he tucks his hands into his pockets and sweeps his gaze over th hatchlings going this way and that, then tilt his head for a quick 'connsult' with his current flying bellies — "Fine. But just one, you little goofball." Daigoro shrieks happily and is soon scouting out some nice fresh fish for the tempting of the babies. "She do that a lot?" N'yulo will ask Alyna mildly.

Talya looks on dejectedly onto the firelizards being carted away by happy Weyrbrats and those that seem to have already dried out and taken to the wind. "A nice big bag… that would have probably furnished my own weyr with everything that Tura tells me to buy. I guess it's drab and empty for the beginning til I can save up some marks." Sighing, the woman tries to ignore the sharp turn of her young brown's head staring at her. "Don't look at me like that," she says without even turning her head. "I'm poor after keeping up with your fashion sense, and I did have to get those leathers of mine." The brown gives a huff in annoyance, and looks to be ready to make more noise but at least there's Haquith. He turns back to regard her, curious all over his face. Too young to really feel encouraged, but she sure is pretty all shiny like that, and he can admire that. Belatedly, she gives a salute to N'yulo. "Yes, sir, I am. Especially if it means not all my babies won't go starving in the wild." Her babies, now.

Evening's Purple Egg gives another hard shake, a nosetip peeping out… Just what it needed to break through completely!

Evening's Purple Egg shatters into a thousand fragments, leaving its occupant out in the open.
Almost There Bronze Hatchling
Champagne bronze bubbles across this large firelizard, from long legs, lean slender tail, and even predominantly sweeping down his head and throughout the barrel frame of his body. Layered over from the tip of his headknobs, down neckridges and seeping down the top length of the tail is a fine layer of patina green, capping the top half of the bronze. In contrast to his lighter body, his medium bronze wingsails are sharply defined and narrow. Sharp wickedly curved talons are each tipped in an olive nearly as dark as his wings.

Almost There Bronze Hatchling is nothing like his brown brother, up and ready to go from the moment he's out of the egg. He gives a little wiggle, a little shake, almost like he's dancing… or trying to shake off that last bit of egg goo. The wilds almost call to him, but food sounds good too. And there's food around him. Just have to choose.

Thats an exciting prospect. Actually making marks. He is standing up out of his crouched knee to circle around the hatching sands towards the other people here. "These eggs are yours then? Or at least, hers?" A nod towards the very fierce protector of these eggs. "The one I have was literally shoved into my hands on a beach like this."

Alyna pops another piece of meatroll into her mouth as she chews thoroughly before looking back up at Talya, "Well at least you should be moving into a weyr soon right? Hey, you know, my old weyr's empty and it's awfully close to a certain bluerider's…" She'll just leave that as food for thought as the food for the hungry hatchlings is dangling from her fingers. At the arrival of the little bronze, she tosses a chunk of meatroll in his general direction, even as she waggles some towards the brown still wandering around. Haquith for her part, brazenly reaches out to nose at Tura's cheek as she settles into the sand next to him, causing her rider to glare her way once more. "I swear she's doing that just to piss me off," Alyna says through clenched lips, and it looks like it's working too.

Beast has been humming along with the other firelizards, now that the dragon isn't bothering her… but there is still a hint of annoyance to her look, wings spread defensively over the eggs. Fierce indeed. "Unfortunately," laments Talya to the Igen man that has joined them. She gives him a look up and down and then nods to the gold. "Basically what happened with mine… both of mine, in fact. At least you have a choice here… and they're free." That last bit is added as a grumble. "Once we're airborn and free from the weyrlingmasters to check out the empty weyrs, I'll give yours a look. I mean, close but… those River Cliffs, not sure if I will be comfortable around there." She looks anxiously away, focusing on her lifemate instead. Turahaimajusuth is very happy to be getting this attention, making sure to be a good dragon to lean up against by settling into the sand. He's still small, so at least they're basically the same size. Thankfully, Talya knows he's young and gives the pair an eyeroll. "Don't be angry, it's probably bad for the baby. At least it'll still be a long time til he chases anything."

Brown Klah Egg gives one mighty shake, and then a crack splits it right down the middle! Just about ready to take on the world.

Brown Klah Egg shatters into a thousand fragments, leaving its occupant out in the open.
Days In The Sun Gold Hatchling
A rich yellow gold enrobes the firelizard's body, shaped purely for beauty and grace with large inquisitive eyes. Each limb is perfectly proportioned to her sleek body, from headknobs tipped with a soft buttery hue to the deep burnished medallion of her tail. Even the sparkle of filigree markings around her legs and belly seem to be painted on expertly, blending perfectly into her metallic hide. An exquisite piece of natural craftmanship, framed beautifully by large daffodil wingsails.

Almost There Bronze Hatchling does not waste time with this loitering around too long, passing the meandering brown to pounce upon some half-eaten meatroll. They aren't too focused on the food, and therefore it is now his. And it's good food, he'll enjoy it thankyouverymuch.

Almost There Bronze Hatchling's cries turn joyous, and he turns towards Alyna, creeling piteously.

N'yulo crouches comforrtably, now he's been presented with a nice, smelly fish to… ugh. Well, if he must. Bits are readied, and offered to those hungry babies. Anythiing to stop the noise! "Well," He smirks at Talya playfully, "At least you're concerned." Oh, dear, they're still very much on the 'sir' business; he'll just let it pass, well remembering how weyrlinghood had been for him. His glance at Alyna is decidedly comiserating. "Ah, yes. They do love to add excitement to our lives…" When's his green going up again? He isn't precisely waiting with excited anticipation for the next event.

Days In The Sun Gold Hatchling does not seem to mind the pieces of egg stuck to her body just yet, more excited by what is going on around her. So many things to see, explore, taste. She certainly has plenty of time to take it all in! Or not, she is starving and she needs to do something about that. With a soft curious chirp she moves out of the hollow in search of something edible.

Snapping her look from her green to Talya, Alyna narrows her eyes at the brownling with what could almost be a growl under her breath, "I know well enough what's good and not good for the baby." Ohhhhh, someone is testy when her green gets all glowy. Haquith is more than happy to curl up next to the young brown, her neck curled coquettishly as she pointedly ignores her rider. But then there's a little bronze nipping at her fingers and the meatroll dangling from it. "Oh!" she says before scooping the hatchling up into her arms and stuffing him as fast as she can with the rest of the meatroll before reaching for a second from her pocket. Jem and Comet come to perch on her shoulders and peer down at the new member of their little fair.

Steady as the Beating Drum Brown Hatchling has waited long enough and his patience has been proven to be worth it, because a big smelly fish leads his way up to the other greenrider. All this, for him? He gives his backend one little wriggle, and then pounces the rest of the way to attack his first meal.

Steady as the Beating Drum Brown Hatchling's cries turn joyous, and he turns towards N'yulo, creeling piteously.

Talya gives a great big sigh at the baby gold hatching, and then as it runs off to find itself a new home with the Igen man. "That's that I guess," she grumbles, more to herself than to her companions. The invisible marks are likely flashing past her eyes when that one hatched and it decided to choose to go off to a new home far from Southern. "At least most of them have found a home. Could have done better if Beast only told me." She must have been living up to her name. Seeing her children settled, the gold gives one final huff and a jealous glare towards the brown dragon before flying up and disappearing :between: to places unknown. It's as if Tal didn't notice a firelizard had found her friend, and she gives a little smirk. "Baby practice." It's like she's just asking for the proddy rider to get angry at her. "You sure you can take care of— nevermind." She bites down on her lip and shuffles away out of any attacking distance.

N'yulo eyes Talya consideringly. Um. He'll just inch away before Alyna gets really mad. Nope, nope, nope, not getting involved! "Well, ladies… I think I better go haul in more fodder for my group." For th fish is now mere bones half-buried in the sand — he's got more than one new, hungry mouth to feed! "Talya.. you do realize your goal is to get out of weyrlinghood without damage, right?" Just so she knows, he ain't backing her up if she riles the greenrider.

"Seven months Talya," Alyna snaps with a little more venom than she meant to, "I have seven months left before I pop out this kid, more than enough time to get this one trained up to be useful." The little gold is given a smile as she impresses and then the brown is going to the other greenrider, who gets a bit of a respectful nod. Cradling the little browze, she does soften very slightly as she rubs it's little tummy with a single finger. With a sigh, she looks back at the brownling, "Sorry, don't mean to be snappy, just…that one is way overdue," she nods at Haquith, "And my emotions are wild with the whole pregnancy…Can't wait till she just flies already. It should be any day now." Getting herself carefully to her feet, she attempts a weak grin at Talya, "I should probably get some scraps for this guy from the kitchen. Remember, once you're airborne, come and visit." And the greenrider is off while her green remains behind to bask in whatever male attention she can attract.
