The Abode

From the ledge, two tunnels split off. The larger one leads into an area reserved for two dragon couches. The more human-sized one leads and curves into a rather spacious inner weyr. On the wall near the entrance are several pegs, sturdy enough to hold riding straps and leathers. An obscenely large bed is settled against one far corner of the room. It is covered in a deep red comforter with multiple pillows laying against the headboard. Beside it, a singly drawered nightstand sits. On the opposite side of the bed, there's a large wooden armoire, likely holding both residents' clothing. Between the bed and the armoire sits a vanity dresser, its surface mainly empty except for a brush. Against one wall of the weyr, an interesting set of geometric shelves hangs, its shelves holding a variety of odds and ends. Underneath it is a plain desk with a single chair. The perfect place to get hidework done. Just past this set-up, a fairly-sized couch is nestled against the other corner of the weyr, before it sits a low klah table. Toward the center of the weyr proper is a decently-sized table, large enough to comfortably sit at least four adults and surrounded by exactly that many chairs. Scattered about the weyr are several rugs of varying size, russet colors, and quality, attributing to its general hominess. Beyond all this, a curtained opening against the far wall leads into a room further within.

And unfortunately for L'xan, Selaine's waddling awfully slow, considering how much weight is bogging her down. Still, at least the trip isn't as long or agonizing as it could be, considering their weyr is right off the lake shore. So they reach home soon enough and the greenrider will head straight for the couch instead of the bed. Mostly to resist any temptation to fall asleep because of how comfy it is. When she finally manages to settle on the couch, a long satisfied sigh escapes after getting off her feet. As much as she insists to be moving about, staying on her feet for too long certainly wears her out pretty quickly. She'll remain quiet for a moment to just enjoy being home and wait for L'xan to settle before she says anything.

Considering L'xan spent most of that journey being some kind of mobile wind-break, he is more than happy just to take a moment or two to appreciate that he is no longer in the wind. IT IS BRISK OKAY? Eventually feeling returns to all of his extremities and he makes his way to the couch as well, shedding the less flexible bits of his attire as he moves across the space. Except his pants, Selaine will just have to live with his leather pants. So much struggle. But he does make his way to the couch, and settles down next to Selaine, holding up one of his arms so she can snuggle closer if she is so inclined.

We can just all assume that Selaine at least made some effort to shed the outer layers of her clothing that kept her warm out there once she entered the weyr and before she sat on the couch. Once L'xan settles, she takes advantage of that silent gesture to snuggle as comfortably as she can and rest her head on his shoulder. Super cozylike. "Y'know…" she eventually starts, fiddling with one of his hands, "I've thought about… trying to fix things with him," her father, presumably, continuing their previous conversation, "but… I'm scared…" The last bit is admitted in a soft voice.

L'xan allows his arm to drape around her comfortably fingers dangling so that she can play with them as is her habit. They tighten when she starts to speak and he takes a moment to kiss the top of her head while he considers which way he should direct this conversation. "Why are you scared?" He asks, that is probably the most important question right? "No matter what you decide, I'll support you. You know that right?" He sounds earnest, and he'd twist her around to give her a gentle kiss on the mouth, but she's kind of huge at the moment, mobility is kind of an issue, so instead he gives her another kiss on the top of her head.

Fiddling with hands is a comfort thing for Selaine, and so is that familiar kiss to the top of her head. Her eyes close, savoring that sweet moment before they open again to stare at their hands. "I know…" she murmurs softly in response, "I'm just… " A long sigh escapes as her fingers tighten around his. "Afraid of rejection again… It's been Turns, L'xan… I don't know if he'd even want to see me…"

L'xan is trying really hard, but it's hard to say if the man has ever suffered a single significant rejection in his entire life. "As I said, I can have a go at talking to him at least. He seemed pretty keen on talking to me about you before I impressed." OH there's that thing that almost came up in the Living caverns earlier. "And if he does reject you, he's just an idiot. You don't need him. You have Akitith." He sounds upbeat. "And me." Then his voice drops into a bit of a growl. "And I'm worth more than your old man ever was."

At the last bit, Selaine chuckles softly and will totally tilt her head just enough so that she can kiss the underside of his jaw, because that's a thing. "I do have you. And Akitith. And soon our babes, too…" Her gaze softens as she looks down at her belly, putting one hand over it. There's also a sense of guilt as well as she thinks of Thesrov… maybe she should just have him stay with them every night… but with her pregnancy getting further along, she's unsure how much attention she can give the boy. Perhaps hire a full-time nanny for their weyr? Something to discuss with L'xan later maybe. For now, she hones in on that thing from before. "… He talked to you about me before? In regards to what?"

L'xan is just going to wrinkle his nose and rub the other side of his jaw with his free hand. "It's all a bit awkward really. Considering how young you were at the time." He admits, a little reluctantly. This really isn't something that he has spoken about often, if ever. "Your father started approaching me, about you know…" He waves that free hand, almost as awkwardly as that long ago conversation. "I told him to knock it off. And then I got whisked away to here, so I never really gave it much thought." His expression slips into one of thoughtfullness. NOT THAT SELAINE CAN SEE. "Thinking on it now. I doubt I was the only one he approached." Euw Poor Selaine.

Selaine listens quietly with an expression of confusion for most of the beginning of his tale. The wave of his hand hardly gets noticed as slow realization dawns on her face, then changing to one of mild horor. Not that L'xan can really see the changes from how he's positioned, either. Since he doesn't so much say it as he implies it, the greenrider will shift from her comfortable snuggly position to turn her body to face him and ask for clarification. "Wait… so. My father came to you in regards to marriage?" There's a bit of shock there, though thinking about it now, she really shouldn't have been surprised that he'd gone to L'xan… She knew he'd been looking at candidates before she'd left the Hold, but certainly had no idea he'd started way earlier.

L'xan winces. "I thought you knew?" He asks gingerly. "I mean you'd have turned ten maybe? Nine? Something like that." Yes L'xan tends to think Selaine is way younger than she is. "And it was an awkward conversation. I mean, what do you say to that? Sure! I'll marry your eight turn old daughter! Sounds like the best idea!" He snorts with disbelief. "I told him where to go naturally." Because L'xan was all of seventeen and in the firm grip of hormones with little tact to get in the way. "And then I impressed, and got to avoid getting married EVER." Clearly the bronzerider sounds heart-broken about that.

"I didn't know he'd gone to you… though I should've expected…" Selaine mumbles the last part, wincing slightly as he attempts to recall just how old she'd been when that had occurred. She was certainly in the dark at that time, though why her father bothered asking so early… Oh wait. She sort of has an idea…"I was actually at least ten or eleven," she corrects as she goes back into the snuggling position. "Can't say I was very keen on the idea when I heard him talking about it either… kind of why I got sent off to the Weyr… though it ended up being a bad decision on his part…" She winces again, because a bad decision for him had turned out great for her, because that's when she Impressed Akitith. And she wouldn't change that for the world.

L'xan sighs. "I don't even know if I was the only one he approached then. I'd like to hope that you know, he was just being opportunistic. I think there was some talk of sending me off to one of the smaller holds to learn the ropes, or something. I guess he was just trying to anticipate me becoming a holder." A holder with considerable connections. "But as you know, that didn't happen. I got Nokteryth instead." And that's totally better than holding some desert smallhold. "So as I said, I'll support you. In the end, your father can only hurt you as much as you let him." He's trying for wise.

Selaine sighs right along with him. "Knowing him, probably not." And he probably was being opportunistic… Really opportunistic. There was no doubt in her mind that he would've tried for even more ambitious connections if he could… Alas. Another light squeeze finds his hand, "Thank you…" she murmurs softly, "You've no idea how much that means to me." Because that is definitely one of her more vulnerable sides. "Maybe… maybe you should try to test the waters… I guess it couldn't hurt."

"Or I could punch him in the face! Because I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm much larger these days." The bronzerider certainly did fill himself out into the potential his seventeen turn old self promised. "What ever you need me to do, I'll do it Selaine. You just give me the word okay?" His voice drops into tenderness again, as does his lips to drop a kiss on her head. "Now do you really want to spend the evening discussing your father?" Because if she wants to change the subject, he's okay with that too.

Selaine makes a face like she's not sure how she feels about L'xan punching her father in the face. Granted, the old man probably won't be able to do much to retaliate but… For now though, she'll just nod as those lips touch the top of her head once more. "No," she answers firmly. "Given that I avoid the topic most of the time… " Her voice trails off as she starts fiddling with those fingers again. "My fault I brought up family though. So my dear…" Lips quirk into a small smile as she leans her head back to look up at him, "What would you like to talk about instead?"

L'xan takes a long thoughtful moment before replying. "Where would we put a hearth?" Oh she put that idea in his head, and it's now stuck there. "Also, what would we do with it in the summer?" Because they're going to have issues with cooling this place when the time comes. "I love you." They could talk about that if she really wanted, given the size of her belly thats about all they do these days :(

Taking a look around their weyr, Selaine considers his question with some degree of seriousness. They've somehow managed to successfully fill the relatively large weyr. "Maybe… move the vanity dresser over there," a gesture to the empty space beside the armoire, "and put it there?" Another gesture to the space where the vanity dresser is with a shrug. Because she totally didn't put much thought into it before. As for summer… "Block it off?" IDK. Then a glance upward and a soft chuckle, "I love you, too." And they could do other stuff but L'xan would have to do most of the work. "Oh. Remind me again why you were in denial back then?" Becaues he never really did say, did he?

"Denial back when?" L'xan is so totally going to play innocent with that. Also short pose, because her ideas about where to put the hearth are good, and he agrees.

Selaine will just squeeze those fingers of his a little harder for his innocent act. "Oh you know… back in your old weyr when you were saying something about subliminating some deep denial?" THAT'S VERBATIM. Selaine remembers these things. (Or her player is sneaky and looks back at old logs >.>)

L'xan frowns. "I thought I covered that?" He'll just have to take Selaine's word on his exact wording. "I wasn't looking for anything because I completely screwed up the fake relationship that I thought I should have because my dragon was obsessed with her dragon." IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH SELAINE? "Also because of those discussions with your father. I really was trying not to get myself tangled up with you." And hey look! They're all tangled up on the couch with twins on the way. THAT WORKED OUT WELL.

"Not really?" Selaine says in the interim of his question and then actually elaborating on hers. "Oh." Then she goes kind of silent for a moment. YEA. SUPER CLEAR. There's a slight wrinkle of her nose at the mention of her father again and another "Oh…" THANKS DAD FOR MESSING THAT UP FOR HER. But it all ended up okay at least? Though it totally could've gone better without all that awkwardness in the beginning probably. "So much for that." Cause yea, lookit where they are now~ "I guess I still need to thank Divale for making you realize that you do love me."

"There really is no need to thank her." Because he doesn't need Divale knowing that she provided the goad to get his arse into gear. "She's busy." With stuff, and oddly this is the second time in as many poses that particular name has come up. TOMORROW. "Yeah, next time I transfer to Igen and bump into someone I grew up with, and then my dragon catches her dragon and I get her pregnant. I'll just do better." He dead-pans that particular answer, cos that is a set of circumstances he's totally going to repeat again.

There's a knowing smirk on Selaine's lips as L'xan attempts to speak for his wingmate. It's not like there's a high likelihood of them running into each other anytime soon anyway. The bronzerider might also feel a gentle jab in his side for that deadpan answer. "You are mine now." She shifts in a way so that she's somehow able to reach up and capture his lips in hers. "I love you."

"Good. I was feeling a little lost not belonging to anyone." He's totally pleased she is claiming ownership as he proves by the very serious way he returns her kiss. "I love you too…I guess." While he sounds resigned, the way his hands are starting to creep suggests that perhaps all this talk of love and possession has his mind contemplating how he can work off his large dinner. "Thanks for putting up with me." And his funny NOT-funniness.

As she pulls away, one of Selaine's brows lift. "You guess?" she repeats with a bit of amusement in her tone. Lips curl into yet another knowing smirk as she feels those creeping hands. "Not sure how much I put up with you as I'm currently contemplating on letting the man that guesses he loves me sleep on the couch tonight~" There's a twinkle behind those blue eyes of hers. And it very well could be payback for some stuff he said back in the living caverns.

L'xan laughs, deeply and heartily. "Like you could stop me." His amusement burbles as his hands stop creeping and he stands himself upright. Once more he's just going to demonstrate how effective Parhelion PT is by carrying the green rider to their extra large bed. "Do you think I could join you in bed this evening Selaine?" He asks, his expression definitely naughty. There is no sleep planned for a little while. "And there is no guessing any more." But it's no fun if she makes him take back his bad jokes!

Selaine will just let out a soft cry of surprise as L'xan picks her right up. And maybe feel those bicep muscles while she's at it~ Once she's on the bed, she scoots toward the center, as always. "Well…" And since he says there's no guessing… her expression might be equally as naughty. "In that case…" Her fingers do that 'come hither' motion. Definitely no sleeping for the time being~
