Harper Wing & Ohanaveth's Common Room, Southern Weyr

Now that Sorvani has retrieved the small hoard of marks from her super secret hiding place, she makes her way to the Harper’s wing with a single-minded stride.

It takes a couple of Harpers before she finds one that knows what she is talking about. But she is on a mission, so she doesn’t mind so much.

“Are you sure you want all of them?” The prissy Harper journeyman asks, looking a little shocked at the young woman before him.

ALL of them!” Sorvani burbles back with a certain determination. “How much?”

As the journeyman names a very reasonable sum, Sorvani grins. “Perfect!” And as the transaction continues her grin grows broader. She never much thought she’d have reason to venture into this particular part of the weyr, but when you really want something…you do what you have to.

Clutching the bag containing her purchase to her chest she hurries home, and carefully clears a space on one of the shelves (away from the empty cages). With reverent fingers she takes each item out of the bag and stacks them on the shelf. “All mine!” She breathes with satisfaction as her dark eyes take in all the beautiful things she has just bought!

Sorvani finally owns her own books! No more borrowing from others, these she can enjoy when and where the whim takes her. Of course it may not be appropriate to display those kinds of books in ones living room, but she’s beyond caring…and the spines are discreet enough. This little corner of joy is all hers -a tiny monument to who she is, and who she is becoming -an escape from things she cannot fix and cannot show. Her eyes flick to her bedroom door briefly before she picks up a title at random and makes her way to one of the armchairs with a sigh. For now, while she is alone she’s going to read.
