"He really does like the sand."

Beach

An eerie mirror, the glass-quiet Sea of Azov: the clear waters stretch along the dark-pebbled shores, and along this narrow beach. Here the faintest lap of waves belies the calm beyond; here the rocks have been ground down into finest, softest sand - those observant would mark upon the similarity between it and the sands of the hatching grounds. The soft sand soaks up summer sunlight as a sponge; painfully hot during the warmer months, it is only truly pleasant at wintertime. Rocks rise to east and west, lichen-limned and green against the abyssal darkness of stone.

It's a NICE beach day. Sun, heat, water, and a dragon that seriously loves it on the sand. Ohanaveth doesn't look a thing like the shy creature he is to many others as he shuffles himself slowly through the sand, letting his stomach drag against the sand like he's scratching an inch. Softly little purr-like sounds originate deep within the brown's body to show his utter satisfaction with everything about him. Nearby A'hali's wearing a strange set of clothing, crudely hacked off pants to make a sketchy kind of shorts, and a shirt that's perhaps just one size too short for him. He's got his bucket of Ohanaveth-care equipment at his feet as he waits for Ohanaveth to actually make it into the water for the care to begin.

Sorvani is standing somewhat behind A'hali, setting up somewhere to sit for after dragon care duties. With a couple of strong flaps she settles a blanket on the sand, weighting it down with a boot on opposite corners. Perhaps it will stay, perhaps it will not. Sorvani no care. It's a NICE beach day. Now that she is barefoot, the filmy over-sized shirt she was wearing is also removed so that she is clad only in a patterned bikini. Now that she is ready she'll step closer to A'hali and watch the brown dragons progresss. "He really does like the sand." She comments before taking his hand, if they're going to wait and all.

BABY TURTLE DRAGON. <3

Keelie is hanging out on the beach, her eyes searching the surf for shells. Her brown Gruffith is curled up like a very beastly cat under one of the only patches of shade in the area, under a tree. His size is such that it only covers part of his head, but it's a sensible part, near his eyeridges. He cracks open an eyelid to check the progress of Ohanaveth. Did he just rumble encouragement? Keelie straightens and holds back her long hair from the ocean wind, smiling at her lifemate. He seldom rumbles a hello at anyone these days, unless it's Ravaith. But Ohanaveth is one of his charges. Sort of. If he remembers being a weyrlingmaster. Maybe he senses a shy kindred spirit. Either way, Keelie turns said smile on A'hali and Sorvani, biting her lip a bit in excitement as they are now holding hands but trying not to look like she noticed. "Beautiful day." She calls.

Ohanaveth sends a purr towards Sorvani for her comment. Yes he DOES like the sand. It's a pre-bath, before a real salt-water bath! He even goes so far as to press the sides of his head into the sand, partially burying them before pulling up again. Happy li'l (big) turtle dragon~ A'hali's got a smile that could rival the sun if only someone decided it was a competition. He takes Sorvani's hand but doesn't let it stay just that, pulling her close so he can put his arm around her waist. "Always has. Wait till the water." THEN Sorvani will really see Ohanaveth in his (second, cuz the creature with wings belongs in the sky first~) element. Glancing over to Keelie the quiet man adds, "Ma'am," with a solid nod of welcome.

Sorvani giggles Ohanaveth as he really starts getting into the sand (literally it would seem), the purr is acknowledged with a nose wrinkle and the commment. "Less scrubbing for me!" She's not complaining, she's not complaining about the arm about her waist either as hers follows suit. She's on the cusp of turning towards A'hali but they are greeted, and for now, it'll just have to remain arms about waists. "Keelie! Hi!" She waves shyly with her free hand, but her grin is as broad and friendly. "I bumped into her the other day. She's nice." She murmurs in an aside to A'hali.

Keelie abandons her seashell search for the moment, slinging the net bag over her shoulder. Of course she noticed Ohanaveth too, and watches him for a moment. "He was always one of the cutest," is noted. "Hi! How is everyone?" The turtle dragon is included in this, and the pair now with their arms around each other, although those two seem just fine. A'hali's nod is returned. Keelie doesn't seem to mind being called nice, if she overheard. "Do not mind Gruffith," she gestures towards the other brown, who has now gone back to sleep.

Sand~ Sand~ Sand~ but eventually Ohanaveth will make it to the water and between one wave and the next slips into the water. He has to scoot his bulk along a bit till it's deep enough for the dragon to completely submerged and is just not going to come up for air for a few moments. "Was one of the weyrling masters." How A'hali knows the redhead. "Are well?" And glances at Sorvani just to make sure that she ALSO things things are well.

Sorvani's expression freezes for the briefest of moments, but she does send a reassuring smile back to the brown rider she is touching. "Things are fine here." She answers him before her attention is drwon to the brown rider she is not touching. She's surrounded! "I— We're good. How are you? Much nicer day today. No thunder." There is a wink for Keelie, as she keeps the conversation flowing. "Nice place for a nap." She does not mind the antics (or lack thereof) of either brown dragon.

"I am well, and yes, I was one of his weyrlingmasters." If things are a bit awkward, Keelie doesn't appear to notice - or maybe she does, in the way she glances off towards the sea. Her long hair catches and whips back with the wind. "He loves his shade." Gruffith does. "Do you guys happen to know any goat yoga instructors?" Don't ask. Probably. Or ask. Maybe. It seems to be an earnest question.

Bless A'hali's seriousness. Because he misses a whole chunk of this conversation and instead focuses on the last thing. "Goats would be bad instructors." Just in case Keelie hadn't thought about this all the way though. Out in the ocean Ohanaveth surfaces and makes his lazy way back towards the sands. IT's time for bath time. A'hali pulls away from Sorvani to bend down and collect his bucket. "Want to stay and talk?" A'hali totally offering Sorvani an out if she'd rather gossip then go wade in the shallows to scrub down Ohanaveth.

This is where Sorvani's grin falls into a confused frown because "…goat yoga instructors?" Yeah. "Do goats need a lot of yoga?" And then her eyes widen with humor. "Or are the goats teaching yoga?" That seems WAY more interesting. "Sadly, I do not." She is forced to admit before looking up at A'hali to eagerly await his answer. He likes animals after all. "Why didn't I think of that?" She asks him eyes twinkling, before letting him go to collect his things. "I'll be there in a bit?" She offers as a compromise. After all Keelie is collecting sea shells and might not want the company.

"No, for goats~" at least, that's the way she understood it. She nods when Sorvani gets it - SEE A'HALI, SHE GOT IT. But then - if there's any understanding of it. M'NOQ. "Or is it that they wear goats?" Now she sounds a bit confused. "I would love some company," Keelie says, with a little smile, leaving A'hali and Ohanaveth to wade (probably very slowly) out into the water. "Do you like seashells? Or goats?" Since they were talking about the latter just now. "I read a book about yoga that was interesting."

Sorvani watches A'hali and Ohanaveth make thier ponderous way into water deep enough to make scrubbing a brown dragon practical with an affectionate smile on her face. The laughter comes when they start playing rather than washing, and thats when she turns her attention back to the red-headed Keelie. "It would be hard to do yoga wearing a goat." Another astute observation made with a voice still rippling with amusement. "Seashells are pretty, and always such a suprise. The sand back home tended more towards insect shells than sea shells." And then as if reminded she is back on sand and it is warm she stretches. "Goats, not so much. Books even less. But I'm trying to improve."

Keelie watches the pair of her former weyrlings thoughtfully, chewing on her lip. She stays pretty seriously-looking until Sorvani says that part about wearing a goat, and that's when she laughs, then raises her eyebrows in a 'huh' kind of agreement. "Unless they just wore their skins." This is getting far too in-depth. "Insect shells?" She frowns, then sends the other woman a curious look. "I would imagine the bugs would get very large in Igen." She crinkles her nose, having forgotten about the reading thing. All of this talk about goats made it slip her mind. "Sorry." A pause, then: "Did you need some help learning? R'ik helped me to learn - it is easier with someone else to correct you. I still have the book too." Probably hiding somewhere in the shipweyr. She slips the bag off her shoulder and slides down to the sand, resting on her knees.

Well if Keelie is going to sit, Sorvani will as well. The blanket she set out is flapping uselessly, and she'll be in the water soon enough anyway, sand it is! Every so often she will turn her head to check on how A'hali is progressing with the scrubbing, but otherwise she's here and happy to relax for a bit. "I think I'd prefer large, to the endless horde of mosquitos we have now." While she's not covered in welts, she's not enjoying this new Southern plague AT ALL. "I know how to read. I was a candidate once, we had lessons. I'm just…not particularly good at it." She'll just squint against the sun while she talks about it. "I've picked up a few books, but they're still a little bit beyond me. So if you wouldn't mind lending it to me…" She accepts the offer with a shy smile. "You know where I live after all." The smile grows as she gives the brown rider a wink.

"It is about baby dragons," Keelie says about the book, as if trying to endorse it. "I do not mind lending it to you. And yes, I know where you live." She returns the smile. A pause. "There is nothing to be ashamed of, if it takes a while to learn. The library is full of books, too. Was your a candidacy at Igen recently? M'noq's sister impressed a green there." She smiles as she talks, biting her lip.

"Not recently no. About seven turns ago." Which is probably why Sorvani isn't the best at reading. "Bit hard to borrow books when you're on the move." She admits, before pulling her legs up to her chest. "Funny you should say that, I just met a brown rider who had a sister impressed at Igen." They did not exchange names, but she'll turn to face Keelie speculatively. "Nice looking guy. Brown hair, brown eyes. Doesn't drink." Sorvani's squint deepens as she tries to recall that last tidbit of information. "Rides a brown…Ravaith? Maps the coastline." She may not read, but every so often she pays attention. Ringing any bells Keelie?

"I would imagine it would be difficult to borrow books that way." Keelie says thoughtfully and then smiles softer as Sorvani describes the other brownrider. "That is him." She grins at mention Ravaith, and she trails her fingertips through her long hair, trying to brush out a bit of a tangle acquired by the wind. "You have a good memory." A pause where she looks out to check on the status of A'hali and Ohanaveth. "Perhaps I should let you get back to your dragon washing, and get back to my seashells." She rises up, dusting herself off. "I will bring the book by your weyr… maybe tomorrow? Is that alright? Or I could give it to A'hali. He is in my wing."

Sorvani's eyes are drawn to her brownrider with the other womens. "Thank you. It comes in handy from time to time." To use and misuse in equal measure. Now that she has met her neighbours concern causes her voice and expression to drop slightly. "Now… Now, isn't such a good time for visitors." She admits with a worried frown. "Perhaps it is best if you give it to A'hali." The shadow of whatever passing quickly like the clouds before the sun. "I think it's time I made an appearance." Sorvani agrees. "It was nice talking to you Keelie." And with one last friendly grin, she'll make her way into the water much more quickly than the bonded pair she is joining.
