Lower Bowl

Cobblestones sweep as far as the eye can see, a unique feature to the lower section of the bowl — but necessary, perhaps, as the stepped western bowl drains off into this high-trafficked area. The shallow bowl is bounded by craggy-black bowlwall with entrances pockmarked - and some boarded over in an effort to prevent entry from un-renovated caverns. Directly south, the wall neatly crumbles away to roll southerly into rollicking fields of soft hills; a glance of the stables can be seen through the gap, nestled against the entrance bridge that spans westward.

It's a good thing that the night is dark and so is the part of the Lower Bowl where Alyna is currently stumbling back from dropping off her drinking buddy at the Barracks. She seems to be in good spirits though, boisterously greeting every person or small group she passes with the fervor of one truly intoxicated, but still looking to have a good time.

There were all those admirers who were ogling her and her little black dress back in the Kitten. If she were sober, the greenrider would probably admit to having a few ulterior motives behind her choice to dress up for the evening. It had been a long time since Alyna had last went to a bar and managed to find someone intriguing enough to take to her bed, a pastime that the greenrider usually enjoyed immensely, even on those nights that she ends up going home alone. When her booze-addled brains actually begin to ponder when that was, she scoffs to herself when she realizes who the last person she had picked up was….D’har.

The thought of the swarthy bluerider is enough to stop Alyna in her trek back towards the Tipsy Kitten, albeit with a considerable wobble that she quickly looks around to make sure no one witnessed it. But now she’s hit a quandry. The thought of her lover suddenly makes her previous plans pale in comparison, reminding her that she hadn’t yet checked in with him after Threadfall. She liked knowing he was ok, even though word came down that there had been no serious injuries that day, the greenrider still felt an overwhelming urge to see him now. Besides, why spend energy flirting at the kitten for a possibility of company when she knows if she visits D’har, she’ll be treated to the man’s undeniably enthralling company, and a warm body she quite likes to fall asleep snuggled up next to. Drunken reasoning aside, Alyna makes up her mind and changes the plan right then, as she takes another swig from her bottle of firewhiskey as if to solidify her resolve before she reaches out to Haquith to entreaty a ride from her green.

So change of plans, how about we go and visit Searuth and D’har hmmm? The rider asks as she closes her eyes to better concentrate her foggy mind on the connection she shares with her lifemate, that comforting buzzing always present in the back of her mind.

« What brought this on? I thought you said you wanted to find new company this evening rider mine. You have been spending a lot of time with Searuth’s. » There’s almost a note of warning as Haquith shuffles her wings on her back from her perch on a ledge overhanging the bowl.

I’m not allowed to change my mind? she quips back loftily with a sigh.

« You don’t think you you might want to meet someone new? »

« Because we both know how you get when you focus too much on one companion. »

And how exactly do I get Haquith?

« Don’t make me bring him up rider mine. »

That makes Alyna scowl darkly as she struck dumb briefly.

Low blow and completely irrelevant. I let myself love him. That’s not happening with D’har. the greenrider says stubbornly. Now could you please come collect me. So I’m not standing out here looking like a dimglow.

« You can say that to whoever else, but don’t try that line on me. I can see in your head remember. It’s embarrassing how many times a day that bluerider is on your mind. Not to mention all the gooey feelings you project whenever the two of you get together. » The green pauses just enough so that the pitch of her buzzing mind voice rises slightly to show her irritation. « And I’m sorry, but there was a reason you made those rules for yourself, it’s been better for you to keep things casual. »

Better or easier? And I don’t know why you are saying all this now, I know you may not remember, but there was a time you said and I quote, ‘He’s good for you.’

« That was before you let yourself get careless. You don’t need a man Alyna. You are perfect just as you are, and you have me! What else could you need? »

Wow, Haquith. You sound jealous.

« Am not! »

Look, I’ve had way too much to drink to get into a fight with you. Just come and get me. You don’t need to stay with Searuth if you’re over his company, but don’t try to tell me where I should find my own. Or I can just get a note to D’har through Jem, and have him come pick me up. She adds smugly, hitting a low blow of her own by threatening to take the green out of the equation completely, targeting Haquith’s rather over-inflated ego.

With much reluctance and a some rather vocal complaints, the chartreuse green glides down from her perch to land next to her rider, wings snapping and sending a stiff breeze that sends Alyna’s skirt flying, narrowly avoiding a serious wardrobe malfunction as the petite woman desperately tries to hold down the gauzy fabric. Her dragon’s eyes whirl their obvious irritation as she waits for her lifemate to be seated before she takes off with a head-snapping leap, determined to make the short trip up to Searuth’s ledge as uncomfortable as she can for her intoxicated rider, deciding to commiserate with the midnight blue on the exasperating nature of lifemates once she arrives.
