Lake Shore

Sprawled out beyond the Weyr proper's hustling activity and ambling roads, the cool, blue paradise of the Weyr lake promises escape from the oppressive hammer of Igen summer's cruel climes; the asymmetrical, sandy white shores hook delicately around the deceptively still waters running deep and sure, greedy peninsulas reaching white fingers stretching in crooked lines towards its center. A sturdy shack, weather-beaten and brown as cured leather, resides in isolated splendor upon one such finger, screened shelving offering a variety of brushes and fragrant oils housed in colorful tureens. Out beyond a small and dusty paddock ringed by a white fence, a long rocky pier stabs out into the lake, providing a panoramic view of the Weyr itself, while the southern shores provide varied shrubs and grassed for the massed herds in their pens

Oh, the joys of growing dragons. Every day it seems like there's an extra foot of hide to scrub. That might be an exaggeration, but judging from the size on Raktraeth, it's an understandable one for Doji to make. The big baby brown has consumed yet another meal and now it's time for a scrubbing. Luckily, he's big enough to make it to the lake now. Trying to clean all that hide in the barracks would be a nightmare. "You should soak some. Probably." Doji seems to be considering the easiest way to scrub her growing lifemate in the lake, scrub-brush in hand while she ponders.

Strolling onto the beach, Xanthee carries her sandals in her hand and her skirt is pulled up between her legs and rucked into her belt making an improvised set of pants for herself, keeping her hem out of the sand. Above her head, her green and bronze firelizards are following in loose circles, chittering happily at the idea of some beach time. Spying Doji, Xan waves cheerily and heads in her direction. "Doji! Hi! Or should I say Brownrider Doji?" she teases with a little bow at her waist. "What's going on? Bath time?" she asks she she points to the scrub brush. Meet Xanthee, super detective.

Doji starts a little as her name is called out. And blushes a bit at the teasing. "No, just Doji's fine. Still a weyrling after all." Not even a rider yet. They haven't even finished their first set of straps! Raktraeth gives out a bugle as he complies with the order to soak. He's not quite got the whole moving in water thing down yet, so there's a lot of splashing. A whole lot of splashing. More than is justifiable just by even awkward water movements. Soaking? That'll come later. "And yeah, bath time again. Followed by oiling time." And she doesn't mention nap time, but that's probably what follows for the brown at least.

Grymm and Banshee follow him into the waves, making a game of diving into the water around the dragon. Turning back to Doji, Xanthee beams, "I'm sure it's a grueling scehdule, but he is perfect Doji! Although I do have a bit of a soft spot for browns." Looking back over the water to where her firelizards are cavroting, she shields her eyes with her hands. "So how's everything? Is it all that you've imagined?" She asks.

Vedziyath made it out to the lake, but decided to take a nap the minute she arrived, too sleepy to take it all in. Naptime is when the green decides it's naptime. Time for Raktraeth's naptime? It's her naptime. K'mine wants to spend quality time with her? Naptime. Dhazkyth wants to be social? Attempt to get under his skin, then naptime. This time with K'mine? Dozing on a blanket right there with her. The man is sprawled on his stomach, arms folded underhead with Dulcinea curled up into a little firelizard ball right on his back. Some battles are just not worth fighting. Fingers begin to twitch as he stirs, arms sliding away from his face to push him onto his back with a heavy yawn. Dulcinea chitters her grumbling at having to move, crawling onto his stomach instead when he settles. A leather bag is slid closer, tucked under K'mine's head to prop it up. Less strain on his neck while his eyes wake up a bit more. Raktraeth is spotted, followed by Doji and if she glances over in his direction, she might catch the tiny wave towards her.

Doji doesn't notice the other weyrling at first, because her attention is on Raktraeth trying to figure out how his wings can splash the most amount of water. There's plenty going around for the firelizards to play in. But the brown knows his sister is there and a giant root will reach out to nudge the sleeping green. « Hey! The water feels good. » Accompanied with the feeling of a brief summer shower cooling everything off. "It's so much more. I can't even describe it." Not that Doji's had much free time to try and get used to the idea. Weyrlinghood, keeps a body busy.

Banshee shrieks with glee as she divebombs into the water splashed up by Raktraeth, while Grymm chitters at the green in a scholding tone, maybe telling her to quiet down a little bit. Xanthee looks over at the sleeping green and squints, "Is that Kar-I mean K'mine over there?" she wonders out loud. As her flit's shrieks reach her from the water she is about to say something, but it seems like her bronze is already on it and she quiets, a little. "I'm sure it must be so indescribable." Her smile falters only for a moment before she seemeingly remembers something, "Oh! I got a job! You are looking at the newest Server at the Tea Room." she says proudly, eyes dancing. "Can you imagine? It's a hoot!"

Vedziyath stirs, slowly raising her head as she peers over to the water. Carefully, she rises to her feet, mindful of where she puts her wings while K'mine is still stirring. He chuckles softly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Go ahead, I think you'll love it," he murmurs before sprawling out in a lazy stretch. The green moves a bit towards the water before stretching out herself, rump in the air and wings unfurled wide. Once content, she quickly barrels into the water, crooning towards the brown while she begins to do a little wing flapping of her own. Vibrant evergreens mingle in kind to those extended roots, with tiny hints of roses and myrtle blooming through the hues. « It does! Mine, get up and come in! » "I will when you're done playing, I still need to bathe you." K'mine pushes himself up into an upright position, shaking the remnants of his nap free from him before glancing over to Xanthee, nodding in greeting.

"K'mine, come join us!" Doji's just going to echo the green. Raktraeth is going to use those large wings of his (he's nearly twice his sister's size after all), to send a wave of water towards the green. Summer deluge incoming. "Oh, that's lovely. I really miss the iced mint tea." Before impression, Doji was a frequent customer at the tea room. As frequent as an apprentice stipend can allow.

Xanthee waves K'mine over now as well as she smiles at Doji. "Oh definitely, their iced teas are amazing, and I'm not just saying that cause I work there. And there are so many interesting people who come in." she says with a little wink indicating those interesting people are more likely of the male variety. "At least it's better than running away to join the Traders, which was my first thought after being left standing. But I'm mostly over it now." she remarks maybe a bit too casually.

Does he have to? K'mine pushes himself up onto his feet, dusting himself off as he makes his way closer with heavy steps. Vedziyath shakes her tail, opening her wings to ride the incoming wave. "Iced mint tea? I don't think I've tried that one." Vedziyath shakes her head at the water, warbling a challenge to Raktraeth before she goes completely under the water's surface. This quickly gets K'mine's attention and he darts his eyes over to her until her snout resurfaces, blowing a puff of moist air before descending once more. "Well… Looks like she figured that out pretty quick." The green's wings rise above the surface briefly, then vanishes as she stalks the brown from below.

"She's just darling K'mine and so clever!" Xanthee gushes as the green weyrling joins them. "I was just saying to Doji, it must be amazing all the new stuff you guys are learning." she smiles sincerly and then nods, "Oh yeah, it's super refreshing on a hot day, the mint adds a hint of coolness even when iced." she says, putting on her 'server' voice for a moment. Banshee has stopped her happy shrieking now but continues to cavort in the splashes made by the young dragons. Grymm is floating on his front doing lazy laps around the dragons by just the swish of his tail.

Xanthee's voice draws his attention back and he can't help but smile. "She really is something amazing," he murmurs softly, crossing his arms over his chest while he watches his green play in the water. Vedziyath rises from the water with her mouth open and oversized wings unfurled wide at Raktraeth! She's the bigger one! But not really, shhhhh. K'mine laughs, chewing on his lip a little bit in thought. "I'll take your word for it, the tea does sound amazing right now. We'll have to plan for a trip when the babies allow." Dulcinea glides over to the shore, scratching at the pebbles and stones close to the water's edge. A bug is spotted! The green firelizard lowers her head and the stalking begins.

Raktraeth will allow his sister to pretend to be the biggest. We all know who the real behemoth is here, currently hiding most of his bulk under the water. He's waiting, lurking. But he isn't Jag. He can't lurk forever. before long, there's another surge in the water as he explodes upward, mahogany wings outstretched to their full extent. Doji must have zoned out, intent at watching the dragons play. "I think this might be helping, right?" She looks over towards K'mine like the green weyrling might have any better idea of dragon bathing strategies. Pre-soaking is always good, right? "And it'll probably be another couple months." And summer will almost be over.

"Soaking can't be bad for them, enough of the adult dragons so it." Xanthee says so that she feels at least slighlty like she is contributing to the conversation. "Another couple months till what?" Xan asks, puzzled by Doji's remark. Grym chitters scoldingly as the brown's wake knocks him wings over tail. Banshee creels mirthfully at the sight as she dives down into the water besides him, and then comes up chittering shaking the water from her wings onto the bronze.

"I think so. With all the playing they're doing, they should be alot easier to give a good scrub down. After I'm done with Vedziyath, I should be able to give you a hand with Raktraeth if he doesn't mind." The green doesn't mind so long as she gets her full allotment of attention first. She's also trying to hitch a ride on the brown's back with floppy baby wings. "Aww. Keep trying, Ved!" K'mine shakes his head and peers back over to the ladies. Months? What? « I am big enough to get on this ride! »

Doji smiles at the green weyrling. "Thanks. And he won't mind. As much as he loves cuddling?" Raktraeth is definitely a pro-touching dragon, which is why he has absolutely no concern with his sister trying to clamber onto his back. In fact, he'll even hunker down in the water to make it a little easier for her to climb up. « And I'm big enough to be the ride! » The girl just groans and covers her face with her hands. "I think Trae's been hanging around Dhazkyth too much. Oh, and really a couple months before we have enough free time to make a trip to the bazaar plausible."

Xanthee nods at Doji's explanation, "Oh right, gotcha." she nods a little bit, rocking back and forth on her feet a little bit, feeling a little out of place amoung her ex-fellow candidates. "You guys have nicknames for them? that's so cute. " She grins through the uncomfortableness and decides to just look back at the frolixking, trying to pick out the specks that might be her little winged friends. Grymm fed up with the antics of his little sister flies up to the back of the green and chitters to her sending pictures of him riding on her back as she is riding on the brown's back, asking permission of his much bigger distant cousin because, well, she was much bigger, he could be a snack.

"Well, I guess. I just call her Ved because I get tongue tied when I'm tired." Vedziyath cranes her head around and peers down at the firelizard on the dragonpile and she croons before turning her gaze back to Raktraeth. More the merrier! This big, strong brown can carry them~ Probably helps the green is half the other dragons size… « I would ride Raktraeth all day if I knew I could get away with it. » We all know who the bad influence is, sadly. "Y-yeah, I think she's been around him too much, too. She honestly doesn't need his help with uh, expressing herself. At all." There might be the tiniest blush to K'mine's face but nothing like it would've been before he was a Candidate. The green has broken him in just a tiny bit.

"Well, when you're having to goad him into moving, saying Raktraeth over and over and over again can be a bit repetitive." Doji has an affectionate smile for her somewhat slothful lifemate. It also helps that they're still in the water, which carries some of the weight. Doji'd probably be freaking out a little bit with the riding on his back if it was going on the land. Raktraeth gives a little bugle to the firelizard. All aboard! « I don't think I'd like to carry you out of the water. That seems like far more work. But we can nap together. » Because naps are always good. "It's crazy the things dragons can get in their heads." In particular, a certain bronze dragon who is eager to overshare everything. Doji's blushing a lot less lately as well.

Grymm cerily lands on the green and chitters proudly at his cleverness, caping the pyramid as it were. Xanthee chuckles to herself, if she notices the lack of blushing she doesn't say so instead remarking, "I still think it's cute. It must be so weird having a whole other voice in your head talking back. I'm hoping to stand again. As long as they'll let me." she says with confidence as she squishes her toes into the warm sand.

"I don't see why they wouldn't let you," K'mine replies to Xanthee, taking a chance to sit down on the shore. Vedziyath doesn't seem like she's willing to leave the water any time soon. « Oh, I suppose a nap is just as well when I'm done. » Mine glances back over to Xanthee and he slowly nods his head. "It… was definitely strange to experience it for the first time. Now it just feels natural to have her in my head."

Since there doesn't seem to be any pressing need to break up dragon play time for dragon bathtime, Doji's also going to plop down on the sand, laughing a little when she sees the former weaver take a seat. "Finally gave up on trying to protect your uniforms from the wear and tear of sand?" She'll pick up a handful of the sand and let it trickle out and back to the shore. "It just feels right to have him there. And especially when they're really young, you don't just have your dragon in your head. Just after hatching, they seemed to have very little control over who they were talking with. But they're getting better about that. Most of them. And if you were asked to Stand once, there shouldn't be any reason why you won't be asked again. Unless you decide to get married or get maimed or something between now and the next clutching."

Xanthee looks between K'mine and Doji and then looks up at the sun in the sky and sighs. "I know. And hopefully I will keep all my bits between now and my next chance." she giggles a little morbidly at the though. Raising her fingers to her lips, she blows a whistle and her firelizards respond almost immediately, flying out of the waves and heading towards her, chittering and water glistening over their hides. "I need to get going, got the later shift this evening." she says sounding all responsible and shit, it's shocking really. Waving to Doji and K'mine, she makes her way back towards the Bazaar.

K'mine offers her a wave as she departs and he takes in a deep breath, holding it for a moment before letting it all out in a slow exhale. Green eyes glance over to Doji and shrugs. "Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll want to go straight home after playtime and bathing is over." Naturally they're going to want to take a nap and they'll have to wait for them to wake up before any sort of progress for the day is to be made. The older they grow, the better the chances of moving.

Doji gives a wave towards Xanthee as she departs before turning attention back to K'mine. "Oh, Trae and I are going back to the barracks after we've finished the bath. I have to put some more work in on my straps. Be thankful you only have to do about half the work for that. It might be my imagination or my hand might still be cramping up from holding the awl from earlier." She's going to rub at her hand just for good measure, whether it's imagination or real.

"I think I'm right there with you on the straps. I'm used to some of the instructions but getting used to the tools is a whole other matter. So long as I don't get distracted and take the mallet to my knuckles again, I should be fine." Or the beveller to the length of his fingers. "I'm not going to bother staining them at all if she's going to keep growing. I'll save that for her full sized straps." K'mine glances down at his own hands and sighs, shaking his head.

Considering that she's about to get in the water to wash a rapidly growing brown, Doji's just going to completely flop down on the beach, sand in hair and everywhere else be damned. And stretch out some, enjoying a moment to not be doing anything. "Yeah. I mean, I never did leatherwork, but the sewing part shouldn't be too difficult. It's just getting the holes in the leather so you can sew." It'd be easier if the girl wasn't being so freaking particular about having everything be exactly the right distance apart. "And waiting to decorate until their full sets make sense. Otherwise by the time you finish with them, she's going to have outgrown them and you need to start on the next."

"No kidding, she would grow an inch out of spite if she were able." Holes in leather are indeed a pain in the ass. It's not like thread where you can just reroute the needle and call it good. Once a hole is in place, it's there to stay! "That's the scary part, the holes. I don't know how many times I've redrawn them on the pattern to check and recheck before even touching the punches. I don't know how the Tannercraft does it so easily." Nevermind practice. K'mine tilts his head down, rubbing the back of his neck a bit. It feels hot to the touch but he's certain he's not sunburnt at all. Maybe just a little bit of a tan on his skin.

Doji has her eyes closed to the sun. Maybe Raktraeth's love on sunbasking is rubbing off on his bond. She does give the smallest of head nods in agreement with the hole part. "Yeah. Because if you have them too far over, or too close to another hole, it's going to be too weak and rip." That doesn't mean you need to measure it fifty times just to be sure. There's being meticulous and then there's whatever Doji's been trying to do when it comes to strap making which is like three steps beyond meticulous. Raktraeth and Vedziyath are currently cavorting about in the water. Bath time is probably close by considering Doji's got a scrubbrush laying next to her on the beach.

And then there's A'lira, knees tucked to his chest, long legs snugged tight to his chest, toes dug into the sand. A bit farther out, Kyprioth's lying half-in, half-out of the water; jaws snap, playful, at the incoming waves. He'll take that one, and that one, and OH YES, that one. His antics are watched with a sort of weary satisfaction: it takes so much to keep the dragonet occupied for any length of time when he's wound up. So, wavelets it is.

That's one way of keeping the babies occupied! Let the lake babysit them. Exercise them and bathe them. Kyprioth manages to catch K'mine's attention out of the corner of his eyes and he glances over to A'lira. "What, too good to sit with us, A'lira?!" He knows damn well it's not the case, but a little prodding never hurt anyone. The green? I'm onna boat! Vedziyath decides now's a good time to use Raktraeth's rump as a slide and back into the water she goes. She wants to give this swimming thing another chance.

Doji sighs as she sits up and looks at how late it's actually gotten. "I should actually get to scrubbing him if I want any chance of being done and getting him back to the barracks before he wants another nap." Raktraeth's got a lot of hide to be scrubbed. Luckily Vedziyath decided to voluntarily leave her boat or she may have been evicted. There's some silent communication between girl and dragon and he comes in closer to the shore, although head turned backwards to where his sister is still swimming, possibly a little jealous. But obedient and so Doji can get to the serious work of scrubbing.

"Yep." A'lira agrees in wry amusement, sliding K'mine a sidelong look from slitted eyes. "Might get cooties." That looks shifts meaningdully to Doji. He's kidding, right? Must be, because he's unfolding his long frame to come closer to the others. "Or is it that you want to look on my lovely face from close up, Minnie?" Wicked grin appears, brief and sparkling, before the brownrider drops back to the sand and resumes his imitation of a rock.

"Sparkling? Oh no, I don't think I can handle sparkling. Too rich for this man's blood." Vedziyath is just gonna swim some circles and she'll do a couple laps for Raktraeth. Maybe some for Eyzaroth. Maybe a fart bubble for Dhazkyth. K'mine just shakes his head. « What? I was speaking his language. » "So, so lady like, Vedziyath."

A'lira snaps his fingers in mock disappointment, then leans back to plant his elbows into that lovely sand, legs now sprawling out before him. "Son… I are disappoint." But he's not too disappointed, for he offers Kmine a companionable smile. "Pfff… I'm too rich for your blood? Huh, that be a new one on this country boy." Perhaps that fart makes the waves taste funny, for Kyprioth lifts his head to eye the green with head canted to one side, a brief flare of surprised amusement wafting into her mental space. "Kyp… don't you dare encourage that." the brown's tail thumps once on the sand, then goes still. He's heard, all right — but whatever shall he do.

"Oh, say it ain't so, A'lira. You'll always be too rich for me." K'mine chuckles and lays back down on the sand. Sure, he's got a blanket out there already on the shore but he's in no rush of heading back to it. Vedziyath denies nothing. There's no sense in doing something if you're not going to do it right. "It's amazing how fast he and Raktraeth are growing. Ved is only half their size, I think. They're only going to get bigger and bigger."
mos Which song?

A'lira chuckles softly. "Too kind of you." He settles deeper, enjoying the freedom from the confines of the Barracks. He looks out upon the water, admiring its tranquility — disturbed as it is by the occasional swipe by his dragon — and letting the peace sink in. "Ah, don't worry over it; she gotta be on pace for her color. And she's a lovely girl, your Vedziyath. She'll do right by ya." There is, naturally, a gentle pride in his own dragon's growth, though he's no Raktraeth; that one's a behemoth among dragonets. "Kyp's doin' ai'ight." He shrugs, dismissive, in the presence of another dude. He might gush if K'mine were female, but it's not manly to do that among men, right?

"She does and I wouldn't have it any other way. I admire Kyp's energy." K'mine crosses his arms in front of him while he sprawls, resting his chin on his forearms while he watches the dragons swim. Vedziyath is down to just curling close to the shore, letting the gentle waves move around her. "I can't wait til they're able to fly, it would have to be one of the most amazing things to see." Famous last words, we all know these babies are going to be up to no good.

Not one iota of good. "Me neither." A'lira agrees fervently, looking with fond amusement on Kyprioth, whose head turns toward the humans at mention of flying. Bright blue skies, open and inviting, provide a lovely vista upon which to escape: no more ground-bound awkwardness. "Just hopin' I don't lose my nerve." His feet won't be on the ground for the first time in his life. "Ain't never flown before."

K'mine glances over to A'lira with a brow raised in question, and those gears do turn. He lifts his head from his arms, tucking them under him as he turns to face Alei. "Wait. You've never even rode on a dragon before? Like, at all?" Well, it's entirely possible if he was born and bred here in Igen, but never having gone anyway? Not even to a Crafthall? "It's how I got here." Vedziyath opens her wings, spreading the sails wide over the water's surface when the next tiny wave comes rolling in.

A'lira shakes his head. "Never." He lifts his shoulders, lets them drop. "Got here the long way." And oh, was it a very long, long way. He rubs at the back of his neck, smoothing away an avatistic little chill that thankfully goes unnoticed by his brown's unwavering attention on digging a little trench to poke about in. "… ain't too fond of bein' up high." He finally admits very, very softly.

"The first time, I rode on a dragon's back in the air was when I ran away from home." K'mine shifts his legs, moving so he's sitting with his legs extended before him. He glances over to Vedziyath, who's rising with eyes flashing between blue and green. SHE SAW IT. THERE'S A THING IN THE WATER AND IT'S GETTING AWAY. "I was… twelve turns? I guess you can't really call it running away when I told my family I was joining a craft but…" He shrugs, running his fingers through his hair. "After the Weaver's approved my admission, they sent this blue dragon to pick me up. It was the must exciting thing to me at the time, but I think I just held onto the rider with my eyes closed the whole time til we landed. Buried my face in the man's jacket til he pried my fingers loose. Yeah, I was terrified. The more I did it, the better it got. You'll be alright, A'lira." He does chew on his lip a little bit in thought. Choosing his next words wisely. Foot in mouth doesn't taste very good. "May I ask why?"

A'lira is listening, though his eyes are closed, his body very still: it might even appear that he's sleeping. Meanwhile, Kyprioth shoots to his feet, focused on the Thing Getting Away, and emits a peculiar little bark of excitement, his tail rigid behind him. "Kyp! Stay put!" A'lira's up fast enough, knees braced in the sand. The brown whines, strains toward the thing, but remains on the shore. His bondmate's will is apparently made of iron, when he chooses to use it. The dragon's claws scrape with impotent fury against the sand, eyes wheeling with excitement. However, that reasoning force settles him after a moment, and the resentful dragonet eventually flops onto his belly to pointedly ignore A'lira. Satisfied with that, the brownrider will settle back to offer K'mine a brief glance. "I 'prenticed in Bitra, got sent to the High Reaches 'ventually. But we rode. Runners." He looks down at his hands, near-ebony with sun, and heaves a sigh. Why. Always that question. "Fell off a roof once. Was a youngin' when it happened. Broke m'wrist. Cracked some ribs. Ain't never walked another."

Don't worry, Kyprioth. Vedziyath will defend your honor and get it for you~ If she can catch the damn thing. The green lifts her head out from under the water, shaking it from side to side with a snort before diving once more. Whatever it is, it has her exploring just under the surface with her tail sticking out of the water like a little periscope. K'mine spares her a crooked grin before looking down at his own hands, slowly closing them into fists before he leans back on them while sitting. "The scenery must have been nice at the very least. Had enough time to wind up, wind down and wind up again before you got there." Roofs? He's dealt with those, unfortunately. "I had my scare of almost falling off of a roof here in the bazaar one night. Definitely shaved some turns off of my life. Couldn't imagine what you went through. I mainly got locked in trunks and closets growing up by my sisters. One used to beat me with a sock puppet." His tone is soft and words ended with a tired sigh. He ain't joking, either. K'mine picks up a stone, inspecting it for a moment before throwing it as far as he can over the lake.

Dad never lets me have ANY FUN.

"Eh. Didn't pay much 'tention. S'pose it was pretty 'nuff." Typical boy, that A'lira — more interested in the things he could hunt than the pretty winding road he was on. Kyprioth is up again, quivering and happy; Vedziyath is going to go forth in his stead. That peculair bark rings out again, a stentorian challenge and rousing battle cry. The thing must not escape. A'lira rolls his eyes, smoothes a hand over his face. At least the dragon's staying on land. "My da never lemme forget it." His brow scrunches, his shoulders roll — throwing off the memory, throwing off the trenchant disapproval so long remembered. And then he turns disbelieving eyes on K'mine. "A sock puppet." There's got to be a story behind that one. "Your sisters — they ain't had nothin' betta to do than mess with you?"

"Only one for sure with the sock puppet. Long… long story. The one that used to lock me up isn't too bad. Two, maybe three were just greedy bitches that wanted to marry for money or status. The other four just wanted to get their lives together so they didn't bother with me too much." Cause, you know. Only brother out of nine sisters and in the middle of 'em all age wise for the most part. He was an easy target. "I'm sure if I would've fell off of a roof, my father would just call me an idiot, and then send me out to muck the stables, broken bones and all." K'mine grins a little bit at that. His father was a rough man but he had his good moments, too. Vedziyath emerges from the lake looking all sorts of proud of herself with her little baby strut all the way to Kyprioth with a fish in her mouth. « Present for you! » "Now that she smells like fish," he murmurs while rising to his feet. Thankfully he brought his own grooming supplies. "I better get her scrubbed down then oiled. I think with all that we've been through, we're going to come out of this alive. Might be rough going but we'll be alright." As the day passes them by, one after the next, it's the only thing the weyrlings could ever ask for. There's no telling what tomorrow is going to bring if it comes calling at all.
