Dragonhealer Yard

Painfully elegant, a stubborn brand of cleanliness is retained in the gentle colors of faded murals and various curtains hung from the rusted metal poles meant to shelter injured dragons on spacious couches lining the permanently soot-stained limestone walls. Of a dusty no-color somewhere between brown and gold, the floor extends onward, fading beneath ragged cabinets built to withstand anything from lashing draconic tails to various medicinal spills.

At day's end, A'lira sits down to summarize the patients he's seen, and the things he's had to do to ensure the continued health of the dragons and riders he's been assigned. It's been a long day, and he rubs absently at his knotted shoulder, sighing a bit before he sets pen to parchment and begins to record in neat, clear cursive.

Brown Kasameth presented with abscessed 4th digit right hind paw
Hot to the touch. Patient has been limping for two days, refused treatment until today. Abscess opened via scalpel, drained easily. Discharge dark yellow mosstea poultice applied. Kasameth may not rejoin wings until recheck in ten days to allow healing.

Blue Cashath presented with strained left wing and shoulder joint. Acquired during mating flight. Ability to fly not affected. Light duty, rest and heat pack recommend for three days or until healed.

Green Valaith presented with torn nail. For the safety of the dragon, nail removed. Regrowth expected to occur without further involvement— recheck periodically to ensure healthy development. Normal activity ok - wrap well before attempting between.

Brown Havarath presented with sneezing fits. No other functions affected — further questioning suggests his weyr is dustier than usual and should perhaps be tidied.

Bronze Clakath presented for annual health check. All systems operating as expected.

Greenrider Kaysha presented with nausea and an absence of menstruation approximately three months. Pregnancy confirmed.

That done, he turns his attention to the long-standing project of a good, portable eye-wash for dragons — and decides he will have to work on it tomorrow. There's also a plan in the works to see if they might make one small enough to use in humans — entirely possible, he'd been assured, if a bit more delicate. With a soft sigh, he tidies himself and his work area up, and heads out, wincing a little at the freshly healed score along his shoulder. Damn thing itches almost continuously, a sure sign that it's well on the way to recovery, than Faranth. Closing the glowbasket he'd been using, he moves to his dragon, and wearily the pair fly to their weyr — and sleep.
