A comfortable nook, this natural extension of the living room is cozily attired with overstuffed chairs and a couple of well-worn loveseats. All have been covered in various shades of green, giving the very incongruous appeal of a miniature forest hidden away inside… a grove of man-made proportion. Fish stews and spicy white-wherry chili are often kept hot on the minor hearths east and west of the main, for those whose hours defy when meals are kept. Ornate, the largest hearth towers high, rich with carving and utilitarian in fashion: it holds court by providing the weyr with rich klah, the air thick with the scent of cinnamon wafting.

It's a warm summer evening, and M'noq has sought out somewhere quiet to do a bit of work. The worst season to live in a ship weyr is summer, because the metal sheath on the outside heats up all day, and bakes all night. Tonight has him sitting in an armchair, going through a few notes. On impulse, he directs Ravaith to bespeak Jedameth. « Mine wishes to speak with yours, if you have a moment. The "nighthearth," he says. » Room names are so not a dragon thing.

And of course Jedameth happily relays the message, to his rider then bespeaks the wing leaders dragon « He will be there ». It probably takes a little long before Th'res shows up, repelling gear over his shoulder and a 'new' harness about his mid section. He salutes M'noq saying "Reporting sir."

M'noq was in no particular rush, especially since this is evening, and many riders consider this to be off duty time. "Th'res. Good to see you. Sit, please." He gestures to a comfortable chair nearby. "Get yourself a drink if you like. How goes the rappelling practice?"

Th'res does go get a drink and sits down, "It is pretty good, though this is more of a hobby right now trying to get a better harness together for beginners." He motions to the odd contraption that is about his midsection "Still not very comfortable yet though." With a pull from his mug he says "How are you this evening Sir?"

M'noq nods at that. "Definitely grab another Lynx rider to practice. We've been doing rappelling since Myziri was wingleader. She even had us going down ropes from adragonback. Not my favorite thing, I tell you. Some of the riders still practice it, though. Depends on your focus." He gestures at the notes he has on his lap and on a nearby side table. "Just going over a few things. Tell me, how do you think the wing is doing since losing N'lim?"

Th'res thinks a moment at the question before answering "Well we are still efficient but there is an obvious gap that sometimes causes confusion at times along with while he wasn't like very much there is still morning for the loss of a wingmate. And while A'hila does a great job he can't be everywhere at once so sometimes things fall through the cracks." He looks over the paper work asking "how have you been doing sir, since he has been gone?"

M'noq hums at the question, his eyes turning upward as he thinks. Of course, he tends to be a bit reserved emotionally, but it is a fair question. "N'lim and I worked together for a long time. I do miss his assistance, in addition to feeling bad about how he went out. Also, we have F'kan now. N'lim would have been a good one to keep an eye on F'kan, even if they would have driven each other crazy." He smiles a little, thinking about it. "How do you think F'kan is doing so far?"

Th'res shrugs still drinking from his mug before answering "Well he seems to at least not be antagonizing people since his adventure at Igen. And when he was with us in the weyrling class he does work hard on the rare occasion." He leans back looking towards the ceiling he adds "Not like I hate the guy, kind of hard to hate anyone when you have a dragon who insists on being friends with everyone and including people and dragon kind alike." He looks over at the Wingleader "Why do you ask sir? Has he gotten introuble again?"

M'noq shakes his head. "Just wondering. He seemed like he had learned his lesson by repeating weyrlinghood, but then he fell back into the same bad pattern so quickly. I'm just wondering what it would take to get him to learn on a more permanent basis." He picks up his mug of klah from the side table and takes a sip. It's now stone cold, but he doesn't seem to mind. "I don't suppose you have any ideas? Having a dragon who wants to be friends with everyone seems to be a usable advantage."

Th'res thinks on it, "well when I was wingleader I tried to get him invovled alot. give him a focus on other than just his punishment. Not saying it worked well but it might now." He looks over at M'noq "And Jedameth does try, and seems to be easily liked. so it is an easy thing to find out about peoples problems."

M'noq looks thoughtful for a moment, tapping his fingernail on the arm of his chair. "Th'res. I appreciate that you haven't given up on your wingmate, even though he has a long track record of getting himself into trouble. How'd you like to have a bit more responsibility for a while? I could use a wingsecond that sort of temperment."

Well isn't that just a fly ball out of right field, Th'res is nodding along before he is sputtering into his drink. There is a a little shock before he chuckles nervously saying "Oh good one sir, had me going there." He is still looking at the Wingleader like he turned into a giant coiled tunnelsnake though.

M'noq leans in a bit closer to Th'res. "A healer wanted to talk to me the other day. R'vel has been struggling with N'lim's death. He takes this kind of thing hard, you know? And if he doesn't talk to me, I have no way of knowing about it." He reaches down and digs into his satchel, pulling out a wingsecond knot. "You see our wingmates in ways that I can't. I need your sight and abilities. Are you up for it?"

Th'res is slowly realizing no one is going to jump out and say "Just kidding". He sets his now empty mug down saying "Well, if you think I am a good fit. But aren't there more experienced riders. Like D'ex?" Because throwing your buddy under the rampaging dragon is totally fair right. He still reaches for the knot though.

M'noq just grins, knowing he has the man on the hook once he takes ahold of the knot. "Experience has its place, but that place isn't in this task. I think this will suit you." He gathers up his notes and stuffs them back in his satchel. "Feel free to reach out to me or A'hali if you have any questions. I want the three of us to meet up soon to divide up duties again." He sighs, still missing N'lim, even though the man was a pain in everyone's ass. "Drills first thing tomorrow. Make sure you're on time." The reminder is half-joking.

Th'res takes the knot and nods but there is a very playful grin saying "last one there buys Klah" because he is off duty and joking is supposed be a bonding thing right? He gives the wingleader a salute saying "well I better get to bed. Thank you sir." He can be heard as he heads out to the bowl talking to his dragon saying "No this doesn't mean you get a hat to wear Jedameth."
