"I… I think we're friends?"

Th'res' Weyr

A find, this large, squared ledge, if one can see beyond the grit, grime, and guano of disuse and the rodent nests in the walls above. What it lacks for in cleanliness and location, it makes up for in size and the charm hidden beneath dirt: good solid landing stone, excellent rain and snow divergence in rock-awnings and design, tidy stairs that lead to a little tucked-in almost alcove sized room here outside, with rings embedded into the rock for hanging hammocks. Best of all, a nearly complete set of dragonchess figurines have been carved from limestone and set into nooks along every wall. Though chipped and weatherworn in places, the pieces are all about four feet tall and are obviously intended for the vast checkerboard that takes up most of the ledge. Yes, beneath the sand and dirt or time one might find a well-squared board in white and time-aged redwort stain carefully painted onto the rock. It needs some work, to be sure, but once restored might well become a favorite past-time for Riders in the Interval: somewhere to while away the time with a drink or two, some good friends, and some long-running games of chess the trick is keeping the dragons from moving the pieces around when they're out sunning.

The afternoon weather over the cliffs is a little smoother right now for dragon transport. Th'res who is still only a weyrling and can't actively have passengers yet, waits excitedly under one of the awnings to shelter him from the rain should it come while he waits. The red headed weyrling wingleader, who is dressed in his normal uniform but it has been pressed and cleaned, seems a little nervous but still happily excited as he is waiting for someone one to arrive.

It's good that it smoothed out, because if it had still been as heavy as earlier there was nothing in this world (sorry Th'res) that would have gotten Safi even out of the weyr let alone in the sky. Safi's taking her bravery in hand though and when the green that lifted her up settles she lets the rider help her slide down. "Thank you," politely to the woman rider. Turning Safi looks for Th'res and a full smile breaks across her face, "Hey."

Th'res grins and bows as the green rider takes off on other duties, "Good afternoon, and welcome to our home." He waves around the ledge showing off the the place, Jedameth croons happily to Safi as he lays between a king and queen of the dragonsized chess pieces carved from stone. "Thank you for coming… I didn't know if you would come or not.." He is still quite nervous it seems.

"Thank you," it's best to be polite when it someone else's home. Safi brings her hands together in front of her where they can clasp together. Now that she's here nervousness can return. "I, um, was lucky Ciri could bring me." A slight head nod in the direction the greenrider disappeared in.

Th'res nods and will move to stand beside her, there is at least foot between the two so she doesn't feel crowded. "I have tea ready inside, if you are wanting some." With out thinking he offers her his arm like he has seen many Lords do to there Ladies. There is a blush when he realizes he might be to forward but still holds the arm out to her "If you would do me the honor of escorting you?" is said very softly so only she can hear it.

Safi bites her lip but the charmingness of his offer isn't at all lost on her. Reaching out her arm she lays a hand on his, touch feather light. A breeze would probably brush her off. She'll step forward when he does, keeping a half-step behind so he can lead. Before they can leave the ledge area though she'll glance over to Jed and shyly, "Hello, Jedameth."

Th'res smiles, and does lead her into the weyr, saying "You are the first to visit so I hope it is exceptable". Jedameth on the other hand croons again and when that gust of wind shows up to try and blow against them will move to block the wind with his body. Soft blues and greens reach out and gently touch the edges of her mind, the voice is soft almost a whisper which just goes to show how much he is trying not to scare her « Welcome Safi, Mine has been very anxious at your arrival. But should you need to leave I can bespeak a rider to come and get you quickly. »

"I'm sure it's fine." Especially considering that Safi has been living in the dorms for the last few months, and before that was always surrounded by family. It must be nicer, right? "I, thank you. I'm sure it won't be necessary?" The whole needing to leave quickly. So far Th'res has been more than a perfect gentleman. Then whispering to Th'res, "Can he still hear me?"
"He can, but he will stop listening if you wish." Th'res says with a completely straight face, no matter how adoreable Safi is being right now. He leads her into the walk way of the weyr, Jedameth moves back to his spot to watch the storm as they enter.

"No, it's okay. I just, you know, don't want to hurt his feelings again?" Safi glances back once at the dragon who has now gotten out of sight. "Do… do you like dragonchess?" It's an almost gimmie comment, but a good place as any to start the conversation. Safi couldn't help but notice them everywhere.

Th'res looks over at the large pieces then points at the floor "When we got this one, Jed noticed the floor.." He motions to the stained squares "And he likes the game, so he asked me to make them. Honestly it just felt good to work with the stone again." He smiles at her and says "He gets other dragons to play with him, though I don't think they realy know the rules they just like moving the pieces." When they walk into the weyr proper, he will gently remove his arm so she can wander around if she so desires, he will clear his throat saying "Again sorry if it seems unappealing. Not a lot of time to decorate." In truth there is only the sparse of things, in the weyr right now a little hearth in corner that has a carved chimney that takes the smoke out to the ledge that heats the room and is boiling a pot of water. The small table in the middle of the room has two chairs, the set is defiantly a hand me down as it has a lot of wear and tear on it. But on top are new dishes two mugs, and a plate of soft cookies for snacking should the guest get hungry.

Safi trails a finger against the warn carvings on the wall, but doesn't stop to examine them further. She's letting Th'res lead her in. "You're busy, right?" It can't be easy to be a wingleader while still so very early in his career. "Is, that," the setting for a guest, "For me?"

Th'res nods and smiles as he moves over to pull out one of the warn chairs, there is a little cushion on this chair saying "I thought you might need something more than tea to help you settle." He looks over at the walls saying "I am busy, but probably not for much longer. They say Weyrlinghood will be over in a few months, and then I won't be a wingleader or anything but a rider like everyone else." AS he says it there is almost a relieved look on his face before he turns back to his guest, as there is a little boom in the distance so faint it can barely be heard but he knows she doesn't like storms.

Safi's not wearing a dress but she smooths her hands along her side anyway, almost like she's sweeping a dress under her. "That's really nice." She was almost about to say more when the boom reaches her ears. Turning quickly she glances at the entrance to the weyr. It's concern more than fear that writes itself upon her expression. "Is… I'm sorry. I don't like storms." As if that wasn't obvious already.

Th'res nods and says softly "I know you don't. I can have Jed call for that ride for you.." while his face is full of concern for her, his voice betrays the small sadness that he will feel should she leave. The kettle whistles and he moves over to take it off the fire and bring it to the table to pour the tea.

"No, no, it's okay, I'd just… if it's okay could we just stay in here?" Safi says it hesitant, not sure exactly if it's expected that they go back onto the ledge. After offending Jedameth when he met Safi's puppy, the herder would rather be extra careful. To make it clear, "If Jedameth doesn't mind…?"

pose looks up at her and then laughs, something he hasn't done in a while as it is a rich one that rings out off the stone. Seems this place has good acoustics "Jedameth was afraid he would upset you by asking if you stayed inside as the weather isn't nice enough for you to be out there." He finishes pouring the tea and lets it steep, before turning back to Safi "Please come and sit, you are our first guest so forgive me if my manners abit rusty."

"No," Safi trails off, not sure exactly how much she should explain. Settling on the side of less is more Safi does sit down, crossing her legs primly under, like she is a proper lady of some kind. "Why… don't you have more people over? Everyone," not that Safi has quietly asked questions about the bluerider behind his back, (she has), "likes you."

If she was trying to get him off guard it worked, when she says he is liked by everyone he blinks as he sits, "Um.. really? ARe you sure?" Th'res is clearly bewildered by this statement and has been put of the rail his mind train was on. He just looks at her now trying to get his mind back on track, has she always been this cute?

"I mean, that's… I've heard it." Really, she doesn't need him to know anything about her questions. It's a little creepy okay? At least, that's what she thinks. A cookie will cover up any awkward, right? Safi's going to take a cookie.

Th'res shakes himself out of where ever his mind just went and blushes as he picks up the hot tea and takes a drink, only to almost spill on himself as it is still well HOT. "Ah.. Well that is nice of you to say. Mostly I just feel like people are waiting for me to fail." He looks over at the woman and says "I would like your honest option, if that would be ok, What do you think of this place?"

Safi holds back a laugh at the gaffe, hiding the smile with the cookie in her hand. "It's nice." A good change of topic and Safi looks up and around taking it all in. "It seems strange to, you know, have all this room for one person." If Th'res remembers apprentice dorms…

"Well Jed comes in and stays right here and I put the table in the corner. Until I can carve him a better place to sleep." Th'res says but will add "I know, kinda feels lonely sometimes. After living in the dorms, and then the barracks." He looks over at her and says "What would you do to make it feel more homey?"

"I'm sorry," Safi half reaches out at that admission of loneliness before freezing and making an awkward reach for some sugar. Tea. Yes, she wasn't reaching for him…. "Maybe just more colours or something?"

Looking around, he nods saying "Anyones you like more than others?" Th'res looks at her and smiles as he takes a cookie. Do they touch hands? maybe, but if it happens he won't flinch away.

Bright red, that's just going to be the colour of the day here! Safi looks down at the plate before her. Hello crumbles of cookie! "I mean, Jedameth is blue? So, maybe that would be the best? To match him?"

"Really? So you would be ok with that color then? Or is it just your favorite color?" Th'res asks and is now actually watching the young woman for her answer. He takes a drink of his tea this time with out burning himself or his clothes.

"I like blue?" It's said as a question as Safi glances up, a bit puzzled by the question. Her eyes meet his and she flushes and looks down again. "It's your weyr though, so, whatever you and Jedameth like?"

Th'res nods and seems to be taking notes in his head "Well I know a Blue seems to like you." is his answer and he stills smiles "We will choose but we value your opinion as our friend, Safi. I mean we are good friends right?"

"I… I think we're friends? To be honest," more fumbling because Safi isn't sure how to respond to that. "I don't really have many friends, just, because of things." Her constant phobias don't help much, nor does her shyness. Most people assume the girl just wants to be left alone.

Th'res nods and with a light teasing tone says "Well please let my dragon down easy if you tend to break his heart, he is quite fond of you…as am I." he will actually admit out loud so there it is. He looks over at Safi and says "Soon we will be able to fly all over Pern, with people, do you think you would like to fly with us sometime?"

Safi is startled and looks up without the shy aside glances. "What?" She just wants to make sure that she actually heard him correctly.

Th'res says, "You are a lovely woman, Safi others have said as much. I just want you to know that WE, me and Jed that is, would really like it if you would still continue to visit and hang out with us." He looks down at his mug now, it seems she isn't the only one going out and asking around about people."

"Even thought I kept making Jed feel bad?" Safi chances it and uses the dragon's nickname, though she's been so careful not to get too familiar and shorten it. "Jen seemed to really like him…" And of course Safi's puppy's opinion is important. "Um, so long as Jed… stays away from the flocks?"

Th'res nods and smiles "he will only hunt in the feeding pens. And yes he does like you, and your little dog too." Leaning back the man grows more comfortable and even teases the young lady "So would you like to fly with us when we are able?"

Safi is still rather shocked by the question. "I mean, yes, I would, but… I'd have to make sure it is okay with Llew? I don't… know how they feel about it here. Back home J…" But no, she's just going to stop herself from saying that name, "they said that apprentices really shouldn't… well, be alone…" Which the blush shows she has already TOTALLY broken.

Th'res raises an eyebrow at the blush saying "well we could invite some friends, maybe Tommin? I would love to show you both one of my favorite places." He looks down at his drink waiting for her to find some sense of settling. Because she is his guest after all and it doesnt do to make the guest uncomfortable.

"Could… I wouldn't mind being alone with you." Safi changes what she was about to say as she sets down her cookie. It's no good for him to be looking away. Reaching out she'll try to touch his hand. "I like Tommin." It's true, "He probably thinks I'm silly though." Considering he was her healer the first time they met.

When she touches his hand he will try to take hers in it saying "Well from what I know of Tommin, he probably thinks you a great person." Th'res looks back at her and smiles "I just remember what it was like when I was an apprentice, and I don't want you to get into trouble."

HOLDING HANDS WITH A BOY. (man, but, details.) "I think you're a great person." Safi can't say it without a deep blush. Maybe it's time to move onto topics less likely to turn her face colours. "So, um, where… um, where do you like to go?"

Jedameth starts humming loudly on his ledge as he seems to echo the effects that feed back from his rider. Th'res looks sharply at the ledge before he latches on the change of subject saying "Well there is a place call the Klah Bark Cafe, up at the barrier hold. There is also some ice caves as well that I would like to show you." He is still holding her hand, though not firmly incase she wants to retreat.

"I, it sounds interesting. I think, um," Safi pauses to actually make sure she's got her thoughts straight before going, "That maybe they have some sheep going up soon." So Safi might see the barrier hold for herself some time. Even if she's mostly working with the cows right now. "I wouldn't mind going with you."

Th'res nods but he looks out at the weather, report he is getting from his dragon causes him to frown saying "I hope it doesn't rain worse when you have to take the sheep up then. Do you have a heavy coat to deal with the rain?"

"It's not for a few sevens… is… it thundering and lightening?" With their hands touching Th'res might pick up on how Safi's hand shakes slightly. "I hope it stops, soon."

Th'res shakes his head "It isn't yet" he reaches down and places his other hand on hers saying softly "Me and Jed will fly down with your rider as escort to make sure you get home safely" His blue eyes look her over to make sure she is ok and adds after a moment "if you wouldn't mind that, I know Jedameth will worry about you until he knows you are tucked away into the caverns."

The reassurance eases some of the fear. She squeezes Th'res' hands in silent gratitude. "I wouldn't mind." Silence falls for a moment before she tries to rescue the conversation. "Have you met my cousin Llewellyn?"

Th'res tilts his head and thinks "Isn't he the one with the large hat? I might of met him when he had us roping and branding herdbeasts" He says with a chuckle at the memory, before he looks over at her "That must be nice to have family near by."

The comment on Llew's hat brings a bright smile to Safi's face. "That's him." Obvious affection layers into her voice. "I sometimes miss the rest of my family. There are a lot of us back home."

"Really? How many of you are there?" is the question that Th'res asks. "I have a small family." The talk is cut short though when there is a report from Jed just before the boom of thunder echos. Th'res holds tight to Safi's hand in comfort untill the noise subsides saying "We should get you home."
