"I thought I was being pretty clear that I wanted them!”

Cove

A saber's curl along the coast of the Azov Sea, the cove is a clash of green and black; where deeply forested jungles encroach upon the curving expanse of this tiny cove, found only past the rocky barrier that serves as demarcation between cove and beach. Lacking the softly ground sand of the beach, the cove is made up of dark, volcanic pebbles, making it trickier to navigate than the beach itself. Yet, what a surprise is given if one braves the less comfortable path that curves around a long-forgotten cinder cone to find the quiet tranquility of seclusion. Brilliant against the black pebbled beach, greenery is only enhanced by the purest of turquoise waters, warmed by a deep volcanic vent and churned by hidden currents that further feeds into the relative calm of the sea itself. A small school of rainbow fish and yellowfish swims around here.

It is the sixty-fourth day of Summer and 105 degrees. The night is clear and humid.

It's night, really late too, and all the Weyr people are sleeping and comfy in their beds. That's when the Wildlings are coming out to play! Vasi needed some time to herself and apparently camping out at the beach was the way to do it. Her brother may not be happy about that, but she has her suspicions her brother is keeping his own secrets, and she probably warned him she was going to get some ocean air and do some ocean fishing to stock up. The young girl is has a small fire going with a few spiderclaws in a pot being boiled to death, but Vasilissa is actually taking a night swim while waiting for them to cook up. Perfect time for thieving, except for a gold firelizard that is keeping watch of the dinner with wide whirling eyes. Always vigilant.

What's a girl to do when she wants a little privacy? Why she's going to flap her way to the secluded little cove just a little bit along the shoreline from the more popular beach and boardwalk. Yeah, now that the galactically gorgeous green has had her fun she's back to her stand-offish self. Alighting briefly on the shingled surface to drop off rider and straps she immediately makes her way into the thermally warmed calm cove waters. You're about to be joined Vasilissa! And your companion isn't human. Oh well. The fire and the dinner are noted by Caelisth's rider. "What a shitty way to treat spiderclaws." She mutters, but will helpfully remove them from the main heat in order to preserve some of their deliciousness, Vani can be thoughtful like that if no one is watching (Clearly the gold firelizard doesn't really count!)

From farther down the beach, heading toward the boardwalk from farther away, but this fire and pair is between the bluerider and the pick-up point. D'ex's steps slow, hands in his pockets, but his eyes will be turned water-ward as the familiar green starts to submerge. A hand rises toward Vani, mute for now. The ice-blue is no were to be seen, but as the redhead gets closer to the glow, the hand rises again to the stranger, "That smells amazing, you sharing sweetheart?

Hey! Hey! Those were cooking! Rusalka makes a loud squawking noise that a good guardian should be doing, before she goes flying away to a safer distance to hiss at Vani and await her human. Vasilissa, on the other hand, has bigger things to worry about. The water was nice when they were empty of the dragons, taking advantage of the nighttime for that very reason, until Caelisth went and ruined it. The dragon makes the wildling backtrack to the shallows with a loud, "Watch where you're sharding landing, you big stupid beast!" Sure, the dragon probably missed her by dragonlengths but a dragon makes her nervous regardless how close or far they are. The young girl at least had some discarded clothes nearby and seeing humans approaching, she hurries out of the water entirely to throw on her shirt and hide her bare flesh at least. The rockier ground doesn't seem to bother her bare feet at all, likely used to the rough terrains of the jungles. From the discarded pile, she always pulls a knife and turns wild eyes on the strangers. People don't just run into other people's camp in the dark, Vasi certainly thinks the worse of them already.

Vani is just going to stare at the wildling. "Excuse you." Because you know, her dragon is more than some stupid beast, as evidenced by the way her thought reaches out to calm the firelizard. "You might want to reconsider that too." Her head jerks towards the knife. "Unless you want to spend some time in the brig?" Pulling a knife on a dragonrider? Probably not the best idea. "You might want to ask him about the brig." There is a sweet little smile for her clutch-sibling. "Not my food." She admits, even as she places the pot to one side of the fire. "I presume it is hers, and it was about to boil over and douse your fire, So you're welcome?" Once her hands are free, Vani is going to cross them defensively, her dark eyes wary in the face of that weapon.

Yelling at a dragon will give D'ex pause, but a smile crawls over his face quickly at the girl's retreat. Hold-born, D'ex understands the reaction, but will turn, cupping one hand to his mouth and yelling out to the green, "She doesn't mean it, she's just not aware of how easily humans crunch!" He's joking, turning back to the fire with a grin, hands returning to pockets. The smile remains as Vani flares up, offering a mocking salute as she mentions his time in the brig, "Oh yaaaaa, Southern has a lovely brig, by far one of the best I've been privileged with spending time in." He seems unworried about the threat, and even less worried about permission. As Vani stands, D'ex crouches and peers into the food, "Awe, yeah, you know how to cook~" His own green lizard darts down and circles the fire, "She wants some too, so you sharing?" Actually addressing the right person now.

Vasilissa's firelizard flies the rest of the way over to perch on her shoulder, looking big and mean and hissing. She totally protected the food, like she was supposed to. Vasi does not drop the knife at all right away, even with the warning. It swings from Vani, who is the trespasser, towards the approaching D'ex. If he can see, her eyes widen just a fraction bit more at the mention of crunchy humans. Even though it is summer, night, and hot as the red star, the girl seems to be shaking a bit in her soaked shirt and messy went locks of red hair everywhere. "How do I know if I put my knife down, you both aren't just going to take my stuff and run off on your dragon?" Her eyes dart to each of them in turn, before she starts to lower the knife… they are asking at least, which makes her fight response weaken. "I had them cooking just fine," she huffs finally, having to defend her cooking. "Don't you people have pots full of food at all hours in the kitchen to take instead?" She doesn't yet approach, but at least her knife is.. somewhat lowered.

Vani snorts, her expression clearly falling into 'bitch, please' mode, which is a relaxing of her previous vigilance, after all it's not just her life on the line…to be fair she's not exactly de-escalating the encounter either. But I'm sure D'ex remembers that quite well too! "Are you a thief?" That is the question that immediately springs to the former Igenite's mind. "Cos normal people don't go around thinking everyone is going to steal their stuff. He possibly would." She jerks her thumb at D'ex with love, her humor returning with the lowering of the knife. "Also it's a shitty way to treat spiderclaws. What kind of monster boils the shit out of them?" Clearly they should be steamed Vasilissa! Vani knows how to cook! And how to cook over a campfire thanks to a gypsy like period in her later teenaged years. "I knew you liked it." The turns have worked magic on her relationship with D'ex. It's almost as if she likes him or something.

"Well, I don't think that Miss Caelisth would let me ride her, and I know my boy would be mildly offended I didn't call him. Plus, going between with hot food is just a waste. But if we wanted to steal all your stuff, we could. Would you prefer that? I don't mind obliging people who want to be robbed." D'ex rocks back on his heels, mentally calling his green lizard back to him before standing, "Too true, too true, the kitchen is great, but home-cooking is better and all cooking is better when consumed by people who appreciate it as art. Buuuutttt, that's fine. You can keep your crab." D'ex gives a heavy sigh, turning and starting to walk toward the boardwalk. He stops at Vani's words, "Hey now! Hey now! I do like it! And please, there are more than one way to cook a crab and I think boiling is perfectly reasonable. I mean, as long as they are seasoned and such. Come on sweetheart, give the kid a break, maybe she and you could have some lively disscussion over some nice boiled crabs and I can commentate! Hmmmm?"

"I fucking caught those spiderclaws on my own!" Vasilissa snaps to the greenrider, feathers ruffled at the very gall of being called a thief. Ah, there's the knife flashing briefly again. More to gesticulate in direction of the ocean where she caught the bloody things. She's prideful in all the meals she's trapped, fished, and occasionally hunted for, including her boiled spiderclaws. "I ain't a thief and I ain't looking to be robbed either. I'll throw this if you try to even get a few steps away with my stuff," she says back to D'ex, her voice a low growl now. Clearly someone has no self-preservation, threatening two riders. She seems to consider her options, eyes darting from them, briefly to the dragon, and then back to the riders. Her firelizard is no help, still making unpleasant sounds at them. But then she slowly reaches down, for the rest of her clothes, and picks them up in her arms. This forces her to hold the knife awkwardly as she holds onto her bundle. "Eat it then, it's cooked just fine and would have still been fine when I got out." There's no loving looks shot to Vani, who went and insulted her cooking.

"Too bloody right she wouldn't!" Vani retorts, I mean there was this one time when A'ndi did it… "Don't listen to him. He used to be a pirate. Also, I think he was dropped on his head as a baby." Observe how diplomatically she avoids the topic of redheads, because with two of them in this scene it probably wouldn't be wise. "I was talking about the brig, you redheaded tosser." That hissed aside was probably a bit louder than the greenrider intended, and oops! But! Bickering is reassuring right? And then, yeah. The redheadedness catches up with them all. "No one is stealing anything. But if you don't drop that knife I will drop you. Are we clear? I don't want your food. You don't own this beach. My dragon wanted a swim that is all." Vani has been a wingsecond and an assistant weyrlingmaster in her time, so her voice drops into one of authority.

"Awe, you two are just no fun at all." D'ex looks between the two, "Heyyyyyy noowwwww, I'm not insulting your genetic disposition to sunburn, or not sunburn. Or whatever. And there are easier ways to do this." D'ex is casual in all of his movements and now he almost lazily pulls out the rapier at his side, swishing it lightly, "But if we are going to be worried about blades, mine is bigger and I'd suggest you put yours away before the sweetheart has to get her hands dirty. That's my job." Vani and D'ex can work together to harass people. The smile returns and from the darkness above them descends an ultra-blue shape, though small for a blue, Zynth swoops down, low enough to disturb the flames and landing lightly in the sand behind Vani and D'ex. Full intention to scare the wildling to death. "Put the knife away, we will leave you be and your lovely crabs and you will ignore the giant lizards bathing, kay hon?"

If the rapier was supposed to scare her into sheathing the knife, it doesn't do that at all as Vasilissa glances at it briefly. Not that she is brandishing the thing anymore… It looks like she wants to say something more, probably nothing good, except then there's a dragon that's coming in overhead and she ducks quickly with a surprised yelp. Her things go to the ground again, including the knife, and her hands go up over her head. Rusalka gives another startled noise, not happy by this new intrusion now. The gold at least keeps close, huddling into her humanpet's wet hair. "Ain't fair using the dragons!" comes the squeaky wildling's voice once her heart probably returns to a normal pace, trying to at least put some bravery to her voice. She turns her eyes back up, looking at the pair of riders, then to the dragon. Her fingers move to her things… and she carefully and obviously sheathes the knife for their benefit. "Take the spiderclaws," she grumbles to the pair. "They're probably cold already anyway. And do whatever it is dragons and riders do at this time together."

Vani's attention wanders when D'ex whips out his rapier. "Where the fuck did you get that?" There is a beat. "No, don't answer that." Because on second thought, what Vani doesn't know won't hurt her. She does however give him a friendly little finger for the sunburn comment. If she had a concept of soul, she would probably think both of the others are lacking right about now. As it is she is giving some serious thought about the sanity (or lack thereof) of redheads. "No one wants your fucking spiderclaws." Vani repeats for the non telepathic. "If you're going to hang about the Weyr like a bad smell, you're going to have to…" There is an irritable gesture to the tableau. "… not. This isn't your tribe, shit isn't done that way."

"Not fair, but efficient." The rapier returns to it's sheath and D'ex smiles at the girl, completely ignoring Vani's query on the weapon, "No hard feelings? Just don't insult people's giant lizards, it tends to make enemies." D'ex would know from experiance. The ultra-blue's head rises, watching the movement of the girl with a mild curiousity before he seems to dismiss her and turn toward the water, Zynth's sleek form gliding out into dark waters. D'ex's hands return to his pockets as he watches Vasi collect her things, "Ignore Vani, I do want your spiderclaws, but it's no fun to eat alone, please don't ditch the food, because I will eat it, but it's far better to eat it with other people. I didn't intend to actually rob you kid, just chill out. She's right, this isn't a tribe, deep breath, dragons that hurt people get to talk to mindhealers for a few months. But people that hurt riders and get hurt by dragons are killed." Other things D'ex knows from experiance. "Just chill out a little, Vani's not so bad once she stops talking for a few minutes. Sit down, let's eat some crabs and get to know eachother. Kay? Kay. I'll start. Hi! I'm D'ex, rider of Blue Zynth of Lynx. Your turn."

Vasilissa is just… going to squat there on the rocky ground, doing her best impression of unhappy teenager. "He wanted them," she points out, proving the greenrider's words are a lie. Not only that, but then D'ex goes ahead and says it just so. If the smug look passes across Vasi's face, it is brief and perhaps a shadow from the fire since it's gone within the next moment. "I don't need a tribe and I didn't know the Weyr owned the jungle as well apparently," she scoffs, glancing from one rider to the other. "I ain't that close to the Weyr." She seems to consider her options here, and it's only D'ex's introduction that makes her slowly unfold herself from the ground. Her stuff gets gathered back in her arms and she moves cautiously, like a wild animal, towards the bluerider while making sure to keep plenty of room between her and the greenrider. "Vasilissa," she says, turning her blue eyes to make eye contact with D'ex directly, clearly a sign she's giving him her name. Nothing else seems to accompany her name, though Ru does give an uncertain hiss from her shoulder. Enemy still?

Vani huffs a great big sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. Because of course. She goes right, D'ex goes wrong it has been happening for so many turns now, and she’s not sure why she expected better. "Of course, you do D'ex. Of course you do." SHE IS DISAPPOINT D'EX! "Well I don't want your spiderclaws. I just wanted…Well it wasn't even me. My dragon wanted some peace." And that is the exact opposite of what they found. There is an eyeroll. "Whatever. I don't have time for this." Apparently D'ex has found his like! And Vani, she's just going to wander off muttering to herself. Until she meets Caelisth, whose eyes are whirling with suppressed distress. Then the pair of them are out.

"I thought I was being pretty clear that I wanted them! Vani Sweetheart come back!!!!" No luck. Green pair gone. Zynth will be asked to send them a quick, mild apology for… .what did he do? He wasn't sure, but will run it by A'ndi when he gets home tonight. He jerks a thumb toward the vanished pair, "She's really not so bad, I promise. But nice to meet you Vasilissa. Don't yell at peep's dragons, kay?" Now, crabs are in the future right? She is actually going to share right?

"I thought the two of you were together," Vasilissa comments as she watches the greenrider as she moves off. The young girl doesn't relax in the least bit, perhaps even less so. She gives D'ex the side-eye, as if expecting him to also leave and chase after the woman. But alas, she's apparently going to be a reluctant host and feed the man at the end. "Well, it ain't nice to sneak up on people swimming either," she mumbles, dropping her head to look properly chastised about being mean to a dragon. She doesn't seem too apologetic, however, with her adrenaline still running and the man she barely knows still there. So she turns to the spiderclaws by way of distraction, being sure to serve one up for him and then herself like a proper lady. She won't be that great of a company, and will probably pack up to move further into the jungle as soon as she's able to, hidden from view.
