Mineral Shop

It glitters, it glints, everywhere here light blinks at you. Rocks of all types sit upon the shelves, most common as dirt, but carved or shined in a way to make them valuable to a collector.

"That's it?" Yfana is totally haggling, having found some things to sell over to the owner of this shop, all found in her movements between the clan. Resignation settles on her features as her hand goes to hover over the sparkly stones she's found like she's about to draw them back towards her. "I guess I will find a different home for them then. Maybe out on the boardwalk…"

Naomi is not a shopper. Nor is she even a Southern rider. Why a Parhelion Wingsecond might be found in the vast greenery of the southern continent is a mystery for any who might spy her here. But really, she wouldn't even be here if she could help it… but as it is, special circumstances have brought her to this very shop, in search of… rocks. Her expression is rather blank as she stares at the shelves, wondering again why she had been subjected to this. Her gaze flickers over the wildling, partially taking in her haggling with the owner, perhaps contemplating on employing her help…

"No, no, he wouldn't know what to do with them, the sham." This is a legit minecrafter running this shop and he reaches out to snag Yfana's stones closer to himself, pulling out a special lens to help him see their tiny imperfections more clearly. Many humms and hermmsss follow. Yfana half turns and see's the rider who gets a half-wink. She was totally playing him.

She clearly can't focus on what's in front of her because Naomi's just in over her head. All these rocks look the exact same to her. She's trying to be discreet but in a shop this small, such a thing is impossible. Her expression remains stoic even as the wildling catches her looking, the corner of her lips twitching slightly, though she doesn't move from her spot. Over in one corner, an old lady is unassumingly looking through some other shelves.

"Why don't you wait and I'll make you a new offer?" Aka, the shop owner is going to bet on Yfana not being patient. That's cool though, cuz Yfana will OUT PATIENT HIM. Nodding and stepping away the wildling wanders herself towards Naomi, smiling as she steps up next to her. "It's a hard place to find things in." The pun is totally unintentional, but the player couldn't help it.

Naomi's gaze follows Yfana as she approaches, nodding subtly in agreement, pun or no. "A bit odd for people to want rocks when most of them look the same…" the brownrider notes with a hint of distaste at one particular shelf that has very similar cuts of rock and minerals sitting along it. "It seems that way to me, at least. I'm much more practical." She's not the most socially adept person in the world. Sorry Yfana.

Yfana LAUGHS at that, getting a look shot at her from that old woman who apparently hates laughter and loves rocks. (It's actually a good paring.) "But sometimes you want THIS," Yfana points at a piece of quartz with one long piece that comes to a point, and then to another with many small protuberances, "and other times like that. Same rock but… different purposes." Whatever those purposes are.

Even in the face of abrupt laughter, Naomi's expression remains ever stoic, hardly even paying much attention the gruntled old lady. Then she's looking at a particular piece of mineral that Yfana points out, staring at it and then to the other. Her head tilts slightly as she gazes at the rocks, still uncomprehending as to the uses of such rock. "Hm… if you say so. Can you tell me which one of these is opal?"

"Opal? You're in the wrong…" Yfana was MID SENTENCE when that old woman has decided that enough is enough. Standing up as straight as her old back will allow her she marches RIGHT UP to the pair of them. "You two should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES."

That stoic expression is uncharacteristically surprised when that old woman walks up to them, leaving Naomi blinking in rapid succession. "…I'm sorry ma'am?" At least people can't say the brownrider isn't polite, even in light of such events.

Even Yfana is totally confused and wordless when the woman marches right up. "I've seen the like of you to before!" Totally old-woman rant now. "You'll finger all his pretty wares with your dirty fingers, then walk out without buying anything. Don't even tell me you aren't interested in nothing here, out! shoo!"

Naomi's brows knit together at the old woman's accusation. Lips open as if ready to say something in protest but she keeps on going without even giving the two younger women a chance to defend themselves. "I haven't touched anything since I stepped in here, ma'am. And I am in search of something, which she was helping me with." They have a purpose here!

Naomi is totally going to have to talk over the old woman who did NOT STOP TALKING after that shoo, but kept shooing. Her noises wake up some of the firelizards who have been dozing up in the rafters and there's an undercurrent of chirps behind the shoos. Yfana half steps forward, hands coming up, "Grandmother, I promise, we're just here for - no, hey!" The last because the old woman is totally going to shove at Yfana yelling, "YOU THIEF GIRL, BOTH OF YOU, THIEVES."

Though sometimes a bit brusque, Naomi is not rude, but still does end up talking over the old woman as she continues to make shooing noises. And then she's shoving and doing more yelling. Exasperated, she tries to step in between them. "We are not thieves," she attempts to raise her voice without actually yelling over the woman, who's voice has now put the fair of 'lizards into a slight frenzy above.

Where is the owner? WHERE?! (not here, not here~~) Yfana hrumps at the old woman, and steps backwards, letting Naomi take that middle spot. Look, she's got the big knot. LET HER DEAL WITH THE CRAZY. Or the firelizards will do it. In a chattering bunch they swoop down and surround the old woman, their wings heedless of casulties, like, y'know, Yfana and NAomi.

If Naomi were the type to curse, she'd definitely be cursing right about now as those creatures hail upon the trio. At least she's wearing her leathers, so those claws don't get much purchase on the brownrider's arms as she raises them to fend of the little beasts. At the same time, she attempts to get out of the room, only to be attacked by more 'lizards. When enough is enough, she uses her mindlink to call upon her lifemate, who's mindvoice is aimed toward the fair, scaring them *between*. The scene is not very pretty, what with the old lady now on the floor and the other two women a little worse for wear.

Yfana has a serious cowlick going on right now as her curls have found new and interesting ways to be tangled all about themselves. "What the shards was that??" Super confused, as she doesn't have a firelizard of her own. She's torn between wanting to help the old woman and just getting the hell out of here.

Naomi's hair is probably just as bad, if not worse… but at least she doesn't have curls. "…I'm not sure," is the brownrider's honest answer as she looks down at the old woman. Because of her sense of duty, she is not as torn in what to do next. "Um… would you mind directing me to the infirmary?" Looks like she's going to be doing some carrying duty today too…

The old woman is spry and is already trying to pick herself up off the floor, but old bones and joints aren't doing it for her. Carefully Yfana edges forward, glancing upwards to make sure there isn't a firelizard about to ATTACK again, and then up at Naomi. "I'll help you… I bet there's a healer looking for her anyway." And she'll mouth 'BECAUSE SHE IS A CRAZY WOMAN' to finish out the thought.

Whatever Naomi's thoughts on the old woman's mental status, she just nods in regards to Yfana's offered help. Then she's offering a hand out for the old woman to help get her on her feet at least.

Between the two of them the old woman gets up. This is where she should totally be all 'thank you good ladies i was so wrong' but… nope. Instead she'll go back to totally berating them both. "Your hands off me," etc.

Naomi will just sigh and still try to help that old lady get to the infirmary somehow with Yfana's help. Definitely an eventful day in Southern for this Igen rider.

FIN.
