"You have watched one of my PT rounds, haven't you?!?"

Living Caverns

Grand and spacious, the cavern curves high aloft in a naturally-vaulted ceiling that soothes any sense of claustrophobia. Rich woods line the cavern floor, varnished and stained a rich mahogany, while round tables scatter about, candlelit and intimate. The largest table lies southerly next to the sideboard, long trestles that seem oriented to providing for the Weyr's youngest. The rich blue of the Azov can be seen from a distance in good weather, when the heavy stone doors covering the entrance are allowed to stand open.

Rielle is finally as common a sight out and about as she once was before her injury. Said injury is now more or less non-evident; she has no more need of a wrist splint, and she doesn't move anywhere near as stiffly as her damaged ribs once dictated. She sits in the living cavern for a late breakfast, her daughter, Zariel, plastered to her side, working with the hazel-eyed little girl on some spelling words from her Harper lessons. Juggling this and eating isn't too difficult, fortunately. Zariel is handing most of the reading herself, bright child that she is!

Kodi deposits her riding gear along the wall, tucked out of the way, then makes her way to the usual spots, gathering things for a late breakfast or early lunch. The current offerings leave plenty of room for interpretation. Once she's filled a plate with odds and ends and a mug with fresh, black klah, she wanders the tables and eventually settles a short distance from Rielle and Zariel. "Good morning," the green rider offers quietly, nodding in greeting to the pair.

Z'bor is far behind Rielle in retrieving his own breakfast. He's had the wing out for drills and PT this morning, wanting to get things done before the worst of the heat strikes for the day. He's even warned his sweep riders to start carrying extra water, wouldn't do to have someone succumb to heat stroke. He walks into the living caverns, his jacket slung over his shoulder as brown eyes sweep the room. It doesn't take his gaze long to lock onto Rielle, and apparently, his daughter! This is a pleasant surprise and he'll walk up to the table with half a grin on his lips. "Shouldn't you be with the harpers little lady?" Lessons from mom aside, this does seem like an odd hour for their daughter to be out of classes. Despite that, Z'bor's tone is light hearted and not at all serious. There's another person nearby and Z'bor will nod a greeting in their direction, after all, it's only polite to do so.

Rielle lifts her head at another's approach, giving Kodi a smile when she recognizes the fellow Serval rider. "Good morning, Kodi. Drills went well this morning?" Zariel just stares at the green rider with the typical shy curiosity of a toddler…and then here father is here! And he also happens to be the man in charge of drills. Zariel slips away from Rielle's side to go hop into Z'bor's lap while Rielle shakes her head. "This is the usual time for mid-morning break," she notes, absently stretching her recovering wrist. "It seemed a good opportunity to steal her."

Kodi taps off a salute to her wing second as Z'bor heads toward them, the gesture technically correct, if quick. She then concentrates on her small meal, making fairly quick work of the food, until nothing's left but the klah. She wraps her fingers around the mug, then nods her head to Rielle. "I thought so," she answers, darting a look toward the authority in the area, then taking a long sip of klah. "How soon before you'll be up there with us again, Rielle?"

Ahh! Z'bor recognizes the other person now! He returns her salute before pulling his daughter into a hug as she crawls into his lap. Z'bor was unawares the small ones had a midmorning break, so this is news to him, which he accepts eagerly. The fact that Kodi doesn't complain about Z'bor's rigorous training methods bolsters his opinion of her right away. "Hey look Rielle, we have one that doesn't hate drills." He drops a wink at Kodi then returns his attentions to Zariel. "Where are we with our harper work? Maybe dad can take over where mom left off, eh?" He winks at Rielle and peeks at the hide work they have in front of them. When Kodi asks when Rielle is coming back however, Z'bor's attention rivets to Rielle. He's been wondering the same for a while now.

Rielle chuckles in the wake of Z'bor's wink, sipping at her klah. "I think groaning over sore muscles is the more common case rather than over drills," she opines, pushing Zariel's book across the table to Z'bor. "And it's not really work; she just likes to read. With a little help." As for the matter of when she'll be able to join the wing at length again, she sighs, but doesn't seem particularly unhappy. "The Healers cleared me for duty again just this morning," she announces, teal eyes lifting to Kodi at that. "However…there's still recovery time. I have muscle and endurance to build back up again, even though I've been working on as much as I can. That said…" Now her gaze turns to Z'bor. "I think you're looking at your new official wingleader after I do a bit of hidework. If he has no objection, that is." And even if he does, there's just no changing the way things currently stand.

"Drills keep us alive," Kodi replies simply, her husky alto voice quiet as she gives both Rielle and Z'bor a quick smile. "It would be illogical to hate them." She takes another long drink of klah, then leans back a little bit, arms stretching out straight in front of her, hands still wrapped around the mug. "That's good news," she adds to Rielle, nodding to her. "May your comeback be swift and successful." She lifts the mug in toast, takes a smaller sip, and then glances at Z'bor, clearly waiting for his reaction regarding a knot change for the man.

Z'bor is currently looking at the book Rielle passes over and is only half listening. But he does pick up when Rielle starts talking about work and while he's got his finger on a word that Zariel is trying to pronounce, Rielle drops her announcement. Brown eyes swiftly affix to Rielle's and he looks shocked. He didn't mind taking over as acting Wingleader when Rielle got injured, but he never imagined actually getting promoted to the rank. It takes a moment to sink in before he lets out a nervous laugh. "No objections here, but are you sure? I can just continue as acting leader until you're able to come back. You're a good leader Rielle." Z'bor just hopes he can fill the shoes properly.

"I like your perspective," Rielle tells Kodi with a grin, and tilts her mug to the green rider with a dip of her head. "Thank you. I hope it is. But I have to be smart about it." Perhaps her background is giving her a different sort of outlook on the matter as well. She smirks at Z'bor surprise, shaking her head a bit at his last. "It'll be better for the wing to have a stable, official structure in place. None of this business of waiting on me to work back to full strength. I can work up to where I need to be as a simple wing rider, and I know you'll do fine. Just choose your seconds quickly." For reasons of color restriction, obviously. "And whenever I'm back to full strength…we'll see."

Kodi watches the interchange as she drains her mug, then quietly sets it on her empty plate. "Congratulations," she tells Z'bor with a friendly smile, nodding once to him, then once to Rielle. It's a logical plan," she adds, gathering her things as she gets to her feet. "We'll see you in the skies soon." She adds another salute, then carries her dishes to one of the waiting bins before gathering her gear and heading back outside.

Z'bor nods. "Right then, I guess I'd be a fool to turn the offer down then." As for seconds, well… "I'll only need one, I see no reason to oust T'nes from his position if he still wants it." After all, no need to upset the ranks too heavily. Kodi is given a thanks and a farewell as she departs before Z'bor turns back to Rielle. As to her last, he nods. "It'll be there when you want it Rie, you know how I feel about it." He'd much rather be middle management than actual management, but if it needs doing, well…he'll get it done. And with pride and gusto even.

Rielle bites her tongue to stave off a cheeky retort to Z'bor's first, though her smirk betrays the fact. "Clear skies, Kodi," she tells the departing green rider, turning her complete attention back to the soon-to-be wingleader. "I know," she says quietly. "I'm not going to beat around the fact that I miss it, but…the wing is more important than waiting. Nothing really changes from the way it's been since I got hurt, save for your title." A formality at this point, really. "And you know I'll always answer any questions that arise. But for now, it's simple PT and drills for me." No hide work! Except for what she chooses to do, such as what's to come after she finishes eating. "Anyway, it'll be time for Zari to get back to class in a bit. I'll take her and then go get your recommendation done. And then we can catch up a little more after that."

Z'bor nods along with Rielle, agreeing with her on everything really. She's spoken the truth of it all and it's not anything he can argue or refute, not that he wants to anyways. "Simple PT?" He asks and then laughs. "You have watched one of my PT rounds, haven't you?" He's teasing of course. He'd never expect Rielle to keep up with the rigorous PT routine he keeps in place for the wing, not while she's recovering that is. He looks a bit sad that Zariel must go back to her harper lessons already, he wants more time with her, not less, but there's nothing he can do but pass her back to her mother with her book. "Be good my fiery little one, learn lots ok?" He ruffles his daughter's hair and stands. "Sounds like a plan Rie, how about I meet you after I get a meal and some of my own hidework done?"

"I've endured and endorsed your PT rounds, ye daft git," Rielle lilts teasingly, rising as she finishes the last of her klah, and taking Zariel's hand. "Sounds fine. You know how to find me. Or maybe I'll find you." She slips an arm around his waist, giving a quick squeeze before taking their daughter out of the living cavern toward the Craft Complex. On goes the routine, with adjustments made as needed.
