The Tea Room

This shop is easy to miss from the street. It bears the same striped awning that most shops have, this one in shades of lilac and sand, but it has no sign save for a plaque of sandstone hung beside the door, on which a teacup has been carved. When open, the heavy curtain that covers the doorway is pulled aside to allow entry. After stepping through, one will find themselves in a tiny space decorated with classic desert touches. The walls are whitewashed to increase the sense of light within but the floor is tiled in hues of blue and green, with each tile bearing in its center a brilliant red lotus. There are only five small tables, all of them of dark, heavily carved wood set low to the ground. To sit at one requires reclining on the plethora of pillows and cushions and layered rugs provided for that purpose; each seat is provided with a carved wooden back-prop to rest the pillows against, for those who want spinal support. Tea is served from the service at the rear of the room, where a tiny smokeless hearth keeps water heated, and a row of trays are kept loaded with teapots, tiny cups, and containers for sweetener. There is a small selection of fruits, breads and cheeses also available for those looking for a snack but this is not a place for heavy meals.

Once the men were dropped off at the brig, and the proper authority figures notified of the men's behavior, it was back off to sweeps — which were not much longer in lasting, but a job must be finished all the same. Once they were relieved of sweeps, Vashae headed off quickly to scrub the worst of the sand and sweat from her body, and then headed for the Tea Room. A bit late in the day, perhaps, but as it's open yet.. Tea would not go amiss. She invited Selaine to join her, should the younger woman so choose, but for the time being, Vashae settles at one of the tables, and orders her tea. It's a particular favorite of hers, and a perfect finale to finish off this busy day.

And what an eventful day it had been. Selaine and Akitith had really been just about everywhere that day. At least the remaining half of their sweeps was much less eventful. Thank Faranth for small favors. Vashae wasn't the only one who'd immediately gone to wash off all the grime from the day. The bluerider's invitation was certainly noted, and after getting squeaky clean, makes her way to the Tea Room. It was funny that she'd never gone there before, and thus had to look rather carefully and ask around before she finally found the place. The first thing she notices is the size, though the greenrider is quick to search for her wingmate, though it doesn't take long. Seating is eyed before Selaine seats herself, leaning back with a sigh. "What a day…" she comments after ordering her own tea.

Vashae smiles when Selaine walks in, and waves the other woman over. "You're not kidding," she agrees with a sigh. "Jovianth won't shut up about it — let me know if he starts bothering Akitith too much." It's a common circumstance; her having to redirect her dragon's chattiness. "That was some good teamwork — you and Akitith have sharp eyes." Vashae adjusts, and thanks the girl when their tea is brought. "Have you been here before?" Vashae's not usually so chatty after sweeps. Jovianth's chattiness might be bleeding over just a little, as does happen from time to time. The blue is so easily entertained, and today apparently definitely classified as such."

Selaine laughs lightly, feeling much better after all the events of the day. "She hasn't complained… yet." The greenie replies, her mind touching base with her lifemate for just a moment. The usually more contemplative dragon is actually being just as chatty, for the time being. At Vashae's compliment, she grins. "I try." she replies, "Though everything probably wouldn't have been as smooth without you and Jovianth. I'd say we make a pretty good team." Also a thank you from Selaine, and a shake of her head. "No, actually. Took me a while to find it." There's another survey of the place. "Very quaint." she notes before taking a sip of her tea, letting out a satisfied sigh as the liquid warms her body.

Vashae flashes the other a grin, and tilts her head to the side. "Give it time," she jokes. "He could talk the ears off a dead herdbeast, if he cared enough to try." She sips at her tea as well, smiling at the other's reaction. "They have some of the best tea around, here. It's small, and can be difficult to find seating sometimes, but it's nice." Quaint, as Selaine so succintly put it. "We definitely do make a good team," the bluerider agress. "Jovianth's been eager to get back into action, so of course we were happy to be there regardless," Vashae says with a laugh. "I'm still surprised they surrendered so easily." That's said in a lower, for Selaine's ears only, tone. "Just going to sell the 'beasts? Why push them so hard, then?"

Selaine agrees with a nod of her head. "Yes… this tea is really delicious. I don't think I'd have ever found it if you hadn't invited me." Another sip. Selaine was of course aware of the reason the pair had been MIA for a while and was doubly glad that the two worked together on that sweep. "Well, here's hoping it's not always this exciting." A soft chuckle. The last bit is responded with a soft hmm. Her own voice is low as well when she replies, "Obviously so they wouldn't get caught… Can't blame 'em for surrendering like that though… what with two dragons breathing down their necks." Another soft laugh. "I'm sure the F'dan'll be happy that we managed to get the 'beasts back, at any rate."

Vashae nods her agreement, but rubs her chin. "I just hope they weren't up to anything else, on top of that.. More trouble is definitely not what we need, you know?" She says lowly, before shrugging, and stretching idly. "I hope not too, but eh — if it is, I'll hope we're paired together that day." She flashes a grin at Selaine. "It's a good thing they surrendered; Jovianth wouldn't have taken kindly if they'd tried to hurt any of us." Vashae falls silent again, considering things. "I guess we'll see, huh? Keep our rope on hand, and such." As for not having found this place.. Vashae grins. "I don't come often, but I always enjoy it here. It's relaxing." Most of the time.

"Hmm.." Selaine closes her eyes for a moment as she contemplates before opening them back up again. "Yea… I think the Weyr's had enough trouble as of late… Well, at least those two are locked up. If they were up to anything else… we'll find out. Hopefully." The greenrider returns the grin. "So do I." She agrees in response to working together again. It was highly doubtful that any dragon would've taken kindly to any kind of violence towards their riders, in any case. "Well, this place certainly is very relaxing. Ideal for dates, too, I'd imagine." Another grin.

Vashae finishes off her tea, and smiles. "It is," is all Vashae says. It's no secret that she and N'cal have a thing — he's probably the one who introduced her to the place, to begin with. "I guess you're right. I just don't like not knowing." The brunette sighs, and shakes her head. "Who would have thought?" She grins wryly, and glances out toward the general direction her lifemate is in. "Jovianth gets tetchy if I stay too long," she apologizes, slipping a couple pieces of marks out. "I'll see you at drills tomorrow?"

"Nobody does, I'd wager. But what can we do?" Selaine shrugs, sighing again. She sips at her tea again as Vashae gets distracted, likely by her blue. There's a nod of understanding. "Bright and early." she replies with a grin, waving as the other rider leaves. She, on the other hand, stays for a just a little longer before she's on her way as well, with thoughts to return to the Tea Room.
