The Oasis In, The Caravan Grounds, The Baths

A Room at The Oasis Inn

Lillia had stalled long enough. She'd safely left her two riding companions and her runners at the Oasis in while she took her little 'stay-cation' in the bazaar, hoarding a few days of freedom before returning to the caravan and home. It'd been nice, but now it's time to adult. Because this is what she returns as, an adult. In two months time she will be seventeen turns old and already she has passed her tests, becoming proficient in her chosen field of work, and she'd kept it all quiet, proffering to surprise her parents with her rights of passage accomplished. With excitement, she packed her things at the inn and said goodbye to her travel companions, who at the gates of the caravan grounds, aimed for the Armida camp instead of the Haeyleri and set her runner towards home…..
~ ~ ~ ~
Luck is with her and her parents are away for the day, tending to some trade business nearby. It leaves her time to set up her yurt and runner yard in the lots she'd traded for next to her parent's yurt. It takes a few hours' hard work, but eventually her home is constructed and her runners turned into the adjacent pen. It's hot and sweaty work when all is said and done, and with time to spare before her parent's return, she decides a bath is in order. So, without further ado, and a promise from those that see her that they won't give her away, she slips off to the bazaar and the baths.

Slipping into the heated waters of the baths is a luxurious feeling Lillia lingers to soak in, letting the heat relax her road weary muscles and the soreness caused by a life in the saddle. She lets her mind drift, trying to get it in order before she brings her news, and intentions to light.

She'd once told Willimina and Tallel that she wasn't sure she wanted to lead their people, that they might find a better leader in their next eldest, Taimin. But two turns away with the Kheeriin have changed the Haeyleri heir, in many ways. And in the last two turns she has found she has great pride in her family and heritage, and that she's a natural born leader, so why shouldn't she lead and govern her people? To think she's nearly given up the fabric of her being to prepubescent whims causes a gut wrenching feeling in LIllia. Near a half turn into her training with the Kheeriin, Lillia had made this discovery about herself. And since, has been training under the Kheeriin leaders in secret to learn the in and outs of running a caravan. She'll probably be a tiny bit behind where her mother would expect her to be, but she's been hard at work and is eager to show it. She expects to pick up training again as soon as she is able.

She also needs to figure out how to ply her trade here, or at least the part of it that does not involve performance. THAT part she has down pat. But with the racetrack in the bazaar, and her cousin Echo's runners and the ones the Weyr gets from the herders, how is she to get into the business of training and breeding here? Granted, Vanners aren't exactly the runners found at the tracks or used for common riding, but nonetheless, Igen is not lacking for runners. She may have to confer with her mother on that part too.

Will her parents accept all these changes? Accept that Lillia regrets what she said a couple of turns ago, even if she doesn't regret the knowledge gained from it? Will they be put out that she seeks to depose her brother to gain her title back? She can only hope they do. Letting her mind wander has it's consequences though, and soon she's dozing off, sitting on the submerged rock shelf in the bathing pool with her head resting on the outer edge of the pool. It's when someone else shakes her awake with concern that she realizes she had fallen asleep and could have drowned. She thanks the near hysteric woman and rubs at her eyes. Serves her right for being up all night. She'd fallen asleep in the few hours before dawn and awoken shortly after.

Lillia washes and steps out of the pools to retrieve a long, fluffy robe and her small sack of toiletries and soiled clothing. She'll meander until she's dry and then change into a light sundress of sorts and returns to home. Now all she has to do is wait for her parents to return and realize that A) they have a new neighboring yurt and B) that it's their daughter's. It's good to be home, even if that means giving up the autonomy she's enjoyed the last seven or so.
