First there was the itching powder in his bed. No calling card was left, but M'noq had no doubt who was responsible.

After stewing on it for a few days, he tracked down a guy he knew, who needed to find homes for a dozen baby canines. So, M'noq leaves them in a particular weyr, along with enough food and water to ensure they'd leave their mark (so to speak) in the place. And then he advertised an open invitation to anyone who happened by to stop in and pick out one of the cute, little fuzz-bums. If the pups chewed on any furniture or clothing lying around while they were waiting for their new owners to come pick them up, they must have been bored, right? All for the cause of getting them good homes.

He got a "warm, fuzzy feeling" just thinking about it.

So when one of the little guys got returned to him the next day, he wasn't all that bothered. It was the scraggliest, most drooly of all of them, so maybe it wasn't a surprise that this one wasn't picked. M'noq was just going to deliver him back to his guy, when Keelie stopped in and promptly fell in love with the little ankle-chewer.

"Sure, go ahead and take him," M'noq said. "Gruffith isn't going to snack on him, right?" Silly question. The naturally-protective Gruffith was going to guard the little snack—er, puppy like it was his very own offspring.

It was probably a sevenday later when it became apparent that scraggle-pup had brought little visitors of his own to his new home. Every place that he had slept was now infested with itchy, bitey parasites.

If Keelie became the butt of jokes in certain corners that this is proof that wildlings have fleas, M'noq got the blame. And Xia got a note that said, "Now you owe Keelie a favor too."
