"Couldn't risk you punching me. don't need a broken nose on my turnday now do I?"

Tree Branch

A small set of platforms bridge the narrow gap between this old tree's narrow branches. The lowest one is set out far enough above the bay that one might dare to 'dive' back into the waters below, while others make for a quiet getaway from the day to day noise of weyr-life. Weyrlings have stashed the usual assortment of snacks on some of the higher ledges, a few old tapestries softening the wood beneath to make the hideout rather comfortable. Crude boards make a squeaky ladder down to the beach below, while thick branches rise out towards the lake and up towards the tree above.

Spring nights as clear as this after the rainy season are never ones to be working on. So Th'res and Jedameth have hi-jacked the newest Kitten worker, Talya. As he climbs up to this little hide away that he discovered in his weyrling days that are not so long gone, he grins back at her "Still happy to be on an adventure? or do you want to go back to work yet?" He reaches the ledge and pulls himself onto a lower branch that is away form the main platform.

Oh noo, taken from work. Whatever will she do? Talya definitely didn't need too much encouragement. With the weather finally warm enough for her to stop complaining, jacketless for once, she'd much rather be outdoors than stuck serving drinks and watching other people have fun. "I really miss the smell of all that food and booze and watching people chew with their mouth open," she says as deadpan as she can make it. She looks around the tree and the clear lake and the nice weather before climbing up after the bluerider. Better get up there fast before someone spots her. She pats one of the tapestry-covered ledges, stopping there to sit comfortably, and then actually smiling up at the bluerider. "Though I gotta admit that /you/ came to drag me away. I thought you're all workaholic and serious."

Th'res grins as he leans back against the branch and pulls out a bottle of well aged scotch from the hidden place saying "I am. Most of the time but when it is your turnday well you are supposed to play hookie and have fun right?" He grins at her and offers her the first drink, down below the blue dragon is currently curled up and asleep in the warm night.

Talya shifts (and drags the tapestry) to be closer to Th'res once he produces the scotch. "It's your turnday?" she says in surprise, happy to accept the bottle. "And I think it's written in stone somewhere, I know it. 'You must not work, do paperwork, or anything that involves thinking too hard on your Turnday. You must get drunk and go crazy.'" She lifts the bottle into a silent toast and takes a good shot. Her eyes water and she wipes at them with her free arm as she hands it back. "And do that for a whole sevenday! What took you so long to drag me out then?"

Th'res shrugs and take the bottle for a shot himself "Well you keep telling me I don't need to be sweet on you so figured you wanted your space or something." He glances down at the water below with a grin "Besides it isn't like I have much free time, with this one out there trying to explore every inch of Pern." he shakes his head and takes a second drink before passingthe bottle back.

"Finding yourself a nice woman does not mean we're still not friends to get drunk together." Talya gladly takes the bottle back, swirling the good amount left a little bit. "And I probably wouldn't say no to you anyway, especially if it means playing hookie. The night rush, the pinching fingers, the vomit on the floor. Get me out of there any day." This next drink she takes makes her gasp, perhaps indulging a bit too much now that she's not in the bar (or going back there any time soon). Gasp, rub eyes, pass the bottle with a grin. "Must be nice to get to go wherever you want. Have you visited any new favorite places with Jedameth recently?" She leans back against the branch nearest him, gazing out over the water wistfully.

"We have! Found probably one of my new favorite places to visit, now and it isn't even frozen so my friends won't get to cold." is Th'res's answer as he takes the bottle back. "And I don't know about finding my self a woman or anyone. Been talking to riders and it seems that while I can do most of the fatherly stuff, being weyrmated isn't the same.." He shrugs a little to himself before he takes a long hit from the bottle and then grins at her handing it back. "But I hear the ones that are the most grabby leave the best tips.."

Talya shudders at the reminder of the cold. "I approve of this place, doesn't matter where it is so long as it's not cold." She pauses, reconsiders her words, then adds, "And not Black Rock." Not that there was anything nice to visit there unless he was into the brothels and criminals. "Isn't the same? What, like being handfasted? That seems really overrated," she flaps a hand as if waving that thought away. "Weyrmates seem to do fine, at least the ones I ran into." She scowls at the idea of the grabby patrons being best tippers. "Not for me. They don't seem to appreciate being punched in return." She makes a grabby motion for the bottle, taking it back for an angry swig this time at the memory. "If I wanted that kind of attention, I'd go home and work as a whore. I'd make more."

Th'res blinks and looks over at her saying "You're joking right?" He maybe all grown up but he is still that rather honest and innocent young man he always is. He reaches for the bottle to take a drink to steady himself it seems. He looks down at the water more, it isn't that far down is it? He shrugs out of his jacket as the booze and the heat is making him feel nice and warm.

Talya takes yet another swig, more of a sip, instead of replying to him right away. And then she gives up the bottle to him. "Not entirely," she replies. Perhaps the drinking already hitting her system or the nice warm weather. "I mean, /I/ don't but it was a possibility, what I probably should have ended up doing, making a living." And she waves a hand towards the Weyr. As if to say, that is why she is here. She did notice the glance to the water, and sits up straighter as the jacket is discarded. "You aren't gonna jump, are you?" Pause. Hand flap to the bottle in his hands. "Who is gonna help you finish off that, we've barely started!"

Th'res shrugs and says "well, i figure we get though this one and see if I still feel like Jumping or not." He looks over at her and tilts his head "Never say that about yourself, you are not some whore. You are a good person, and my friend." He must be abit drunker today as he looks at her and frowns taking a heavier drink of the bottle before pushing it into her hands "Jedameth and I would of came down there and dragged you back here." He looks back out towards the Weyr and says flatly "THIS is where you belong.." IF wishes were fishes Jed would eat well forever..

Talya snorts, actually a muffled laugh snort. Then there's a good self-deprecating laugh. "Tell that to Dad, or the guys I dated. Or basically anyone at Blackrock. It's a lovely seahold!" At least with the criminals, smugglers, and other lowlife she hung around with. "Ain't too bad of a profession if you /like/ that." So she's trying to be nice about it, and all the women in said profession. She takes the bottle willingly, raising it up with a toothy grin. "I think I'd have liked to see you do that," she says with more of a natural laugh after a drink. She doesn't say anything else regarding it and does a good job of trying to get through the scotch a bit faster. Maybe she does want to jump in afterall. Coughing, she hands it back.

Th'res takes it the bottle and holds it looking down at her saying "I don't think you would of like to… Jedameth can be pretty scary, not that anyone has ever seen it but me and Thread but when he sets his mind to it I have seen him systematically take apart his food slowly and with out moral." He shakes off the dark feeling and drinks again before he looks back at her and then glances down at the water, there is an evil idea in those blue eyes of his now.

"Well, Jedameth is a big dragon and has sharp teeth, I don't doubt he can be scary." Talya agrees with that. The dragon could be the happiest ever and still make her a little scared if it weren't for some liquid courage and the dark night sort of softening all the scarier parts. "But /you/ going down there and trying to do something about that." That can be amusing to consider. "Though I would not mind seeinge some of those back home piss their pants from Jedameth." It is an amusing thought, one that she seems to stare off with a growing vengeful grin that she misses any sort of evil thought passing on Th'res's face. The bluerider? Evil? Her guard is completely and unnaturally down in his presence.

Th'res tilts his head and says "oh I am not MAN enough to come down there." he reaches out with one hand and takes the bottle back before he finishes the bottle off. "Well never let it be said that I am not a man who likes to live on the edge" and with that he stands up on the branch before leaning over and giving her a quick if not tender kiss on the lips then jumping off into the air below.

Talya seems to nod and toast to that, agreeing. She takes a final swig before relinquishing the bottle for Th'res to finish. The scotch is making a nice warm path in her and she seems to be satisfied with handing over the rest (she would have held on more if not). "You on the edge?" Snicker. "Maybe of that branch." She seems to be very interested in watching the bluerider jump off, which is probably why she didn't see the kiss coming. And the alcohol in her system is already making her reflexes slow. The kiss is sudden, leaving her blinking and ruining her whole jumping-off-the-branch show. It's the splash that seems to make her shake off the surprise, and she's standing and staring down at him. "Sneaky bastard!" she yells. All the essential clothes she doesn't want to ruin is kicked off in record-breaking time, leaving her in an oversized top, before she finally follows him down with a determined fury on her face.

Th'res is in the pool below floating and waiting for whatever fury seems to follow. He got his prize and he is happily floating there in his cut off at the knee shorts. Victory is sweet as they say and he for once will cherish this one with out any remorse.

Talya splashes into the cool water, paddling quickly to break the surface. The coolness seems to distract her for a moment. Shake the pony tail off, make sure she has her bearing… she looks up from the drop, then spins around where she swims to locate the floating bluerider. She dives back under the surface after finding her target (taking a deep breath of course). She's coming for him. He probably noticed her, but she does her best to come up underwater as hidden as possible. Whether she can manage to yank him underwater by the waist of his shorts is a different question, but she tries nonetheless to do so. Ruin all that peaceful floating of his.

Th'res is not paying any attention nope lost in his own cleverness he seems to be tonight. This is why one should never drink and sneak at the same time, always ends badly. JEdameth on the other hand sees what is going on but like a good dragon, decides that not all fun should be spoiled. Nope poor Th'res just stole his first kiss, and won't even realize he is in danger till there are hands about his waist.

Talya would definitely give Jedameth all the scratches he wants if she knew he didn't rat her out. It wasn't like she was going to try to drown the bluerider… Right? Yanking down on the waistband, what she hopes is to use the momentum to drag him under the surface and her above it. Whether the shorts are still where they are supposed to be is the bluerider's problem. She gasps desperately when she does emerge, overestimating her time frame under water and treading water. The fury is mostly washed out from her face, but that doesn't mean she won't stop the narrowed eyed look at the bluerider should he emerge.

And Surface he does, shorts are still there mostly, as it seems in her egarness she ripped the side so Th'res has has to use one hand to hold them up to keep from giving her another free show that she seems to find amusing. He laughs at the look as they are both wet saying "Jed says you are welcome, turning my own dragon against me that is what women can do it seems"

Him having to hold his pants up does not go unnoticed. Talya stares through the water down below his waist as if expecting them to fall out. "What, suddenly embarassed now?" She may laugh if he lets go, the poor guy. But the comment about his dragon distracts her away from the show and to look at where Jedameth is at. "Did I now? Jedameth just know when punishment is well deserved!" She splashes at him, not quite the punch she's always threatened him with. She's not that evil, hurting a friend while he's swimming with a handicap one-handed. Yanking his shorts, accidentally ripping them, maybe half drowning him with water… that's still okay for her. "You know, if you wanted a freaking kiss for your turnday you could have just asked!"

Th'res gives her a toothy grin and says "Something for Free is better than something earned.. isn't that what you always say" See someone does pay attention, he will start to glide to the edge of the pool saying "and I am not Embarassed but in my current state, I am not sure that is something we want to have to discuss." He doesn't get out of the water but does find a spot he can sort of perch sit on.

"Who said anything about earning it, gifts are just as free and easily exploited," Talya says, though a little surprised to have her own thoughts thrown back at her. "Always take what others have to offer, don't feel guilty about it." She points out, considers her words, then gives a mock glare at him. Not quite the sting behind her eyes as it would normally have. "Except do feel guilty for sneaking it onto someone. You don't have to go thieving for something someone would give willingly. And probably would have been /much/ better experience." The glare turns into a look of pity and shake of her head. Tsk. His loss. She follows, swimming in small lazy loops, sort of like a shark stalking her prey before beaching herself on the shallower waters.

Th'res shrugs and says "Couldn't risk you punching me. don't need a broken nose on my turnday now do I?" or maybe he does… Th'res looks down at the water and says "Truth be told I probably saved my self from more embarrassment anyway. First time and all." He leans back, shorts still safe and secure looking up at the canopy of the jungle trees. "But thank you for the gift.."

"Would I have really punched you in the end?" Talya questions rhetorically, as if letting him sit there and ponder on that. Once sitting and not needing to swim, she also leans back in the water. Enjoying the alcohol in her system buzzing her brain and the coolness of the water. "It all comes natural. All you did was saved yourself from a good time. I've been told I'm a pretty amazing kisser." His thanks, however, has the return of the snort. Then a snort-chuckle. "Well, you did take what you wanted. Always said you should learn to do so. So you're welcome."

Th'res grins and salutes "just following orders ma'am" yup he did it again. But we can blame the booze for that, or at least he will. He glances over at her saying "I am sure you are, but then we wouldn't of had this nice swim" or damaging of personal property.

Talya doesn't seem to have a problem with the 'ma'am'ing this time around, even puffing up a little at the salute, giving a satisfed nod back at him instead. "You can really be hopeless sometimes," she says with a laugh at his 'nice swim.' She turns around onto her belly, using the buoyancy of the water and her hands to approach the bluerider closer. "Now that you got your first kiss out of the way, what are your plans to broaden your horizons next?" She comes up from the side, battering of eyelashes and mock-simpering. It almost looks like she's in pain instead of pretending to flirt. Blame it on the alcohol, teasing him as she is.

Th'res is at point that even though the alarmbells are going off in his head he still hasn't figured out this is a trap. "Well, if D'ex catches up with me anytime soon I suspect I am going to be dragged off to Ista." He looks all kinds of uncomfortable with that as he watches her stalk him, there is a clear reaction that on some level he is enjoying it as he shifts himself around.

"Feel up to the /full/ challenge with just one peck out of the way?" Talya asks him as she closes the distance a little more. Queue Jaws music. "The ladies know what they're doing, and I bet Ista or Blackrock… there's no difference. They will make sure you learn it /all/." The brow waggle is awkward coming from her position in the water, just after she has been leering at him from the small distance away. The shifting seems to make her pause, and she asks with obvious amusement in her voice, "You okay there, Th'res?"

Th'res is flush now and nods hands over his waist to hide things. "Yeah… just.. just fine" not really but that is his story and he is sticking to it. Happy turnday sport you reap what you sew, even is dragon is getting a good laugh out of it as the connection comes across. Jedameth feels the need to share and sends her an image of what could of either just been a fantasy the inebriated rider just had or maybe a dream but either way it was very explicit of what the young man is feeling.

Talya settles where she is for the moment to look at the bluerider, analyzing his reaction and his words together. Is he fine? She seems to really enjoy giving him a good hard look. Her legs come in, tucking under her to support in the water. The image shared makes her look from Jedameth, to Th'res, and back again. Okay, probably more than she bargained for, but she can't help laugh at the awkwardness of it all and the poor man's discomfort. Her hand finally crosses the distance that remains, and pats his thigh if he doesn't jerk away. "Happy Turnday, Th'res."

Th'res doesn't move, becauase then she will attack he has watched felines do this as well. When she wishes him a happy turnday he is all shades of pink but smiles and plays along as well "Thanks Talya." He still doesn't move but he glares at the blue dragon for a long moment before he goes back to trying to relax and looks up at the branch, "I suppose I should go up and get your clothes, unless you want to be showing all the world as you climb back up."

Smart man. Talya seems satisfied with all she's caused and stands up fully, top clinging to her in all the right spots unfortunately for the bluerider. "You can climb if you want to get our dry clothes," she says, though her eyes stray down to his shorts. "Though I have a feeling one of us may be showing off everything as we do so." She waves her hand though in a 'after you' towards the tree. Her? She's actually moving towards Jedameth, not even hesitating as she does so. Thank the scotch for clearing out all her worry of big scary dragons, feeling comfortable as she is with Jed to sit by him and out of the water.

Blink blink blink… Th'res has to reboot the old brain for a moment there but he keeps his relative cool, using a piece of leather cord to tie off his ripped shorts. He moves to start climbing the tree, if not drunkly awkward. Jedameth on the other hand makes a nice spot for Talya to sit on him while she waits for his rider to retrieve her clothes.. Soft blues and purples flow out as he says to her « you really shouldn't tease him about him coming after you, he cares for you alot. »

Talya is watching Th'res climb up as if expecting the shorts to fall. Her eyes still linger even as she realizes that he's fixed the problem. She's settled herself beside the blue, stretching her legs out and leaning back on her arms. "Alright, maybe I did go a little too far," she replies guiltily, not even flinching at the mindtouch. She looks away and hangs her head, properly reprimanded by dragon. "He's a very caring guy, that's true, but he barely knows me." She hadn't been at the Weyr /that/ long in comparison. She lifts her head back up to look at Jedameth, hand raising as she offers for scratches. "He puts up with my shit and he's been a good friend through it all, so of course I do care 'bout him too…"

Jedameth opens one eye that whirls blue at her « he keeps things deep inside. But he never says anything he doesn't mean. » There is a warm huff of dragon breath at her as he closes his eye again. Th'res still keeps his shorts as he makes it to the top and starts to gather the belongings, though he is now having to sit down for a moment after all this working out and drinking.

"Holding stuff in ain't healthy," Talya says in response to the blue. She drops her arm, doesn't move to touch the dragon anymore unless he initiates it first. The breath makes her jump a little, even with the alcohol barrier. She wasn't expecting it. When the blue settles back down she finally changes her attention back to the tree. When Th'res does immediately appear, she stands up to walk up to it. "You can just throw down my stuff! I better be heading back anyway," she says after a moment's awkward pause at the base.

Th'res looks over the edge and will then slowly climb down with the gear, as he gets to the ground it is clear his is more than sober now. He hands her the clothes, which are probably his that she 'found' anyway, "Thanks for coming out. I need to get back too, the wing second wanted to see me about something early in the morning." Not like he ever gets in trouble, or if he does Jedameth seems to bail him out. "We will give you a lift when you are ready." When Talya is clothed and ready to go it is a short glide for the blue back to the weyr, no betweening here so sick in the morning. After he drops her off at the the lower caverns the blue riding pair glide back to there own weyr for the evening. Inside a pocket of her clothes there is a small carved figure of a woman grining wolfishly arms up in a fighters stance that has a striking resemblance to Talya.
