Subject: Consequences of a Lord Warder's Dabbling

Has anyone been paying attention to the Hold? Has anyone noticed that Renalde is taking a more active role with the miners of Southern? Has anyone noticed that the convict population within the Hold is a little smaller? Wildling guards are slowly transplanting Smithcraft guards? New convicts have stopped arriving at the Hold and while there's a lot of work for convicts to do mining the Firestone, it seems to be a subtle trend Renalde seems to favor wildling workers over convicts. In fact, the Lord Warder has gone so far as to transfer the most aggressive Convicts out of the Hold entirely, citing a need for Lord Rylov to have a safe place to grow up. Of course, there are still plenty of Convicts at Southern Barrier Hold, and it remains to be seen what will happen to them over the course of time! One thing is for certain, Renalde is dabbling and the winds of change are stirring.

OOC: What does this mean? This means that Staff is starting an initiative to cohesively pull together the Threads of RP within the Southern area as well as give the Hold some RP hooks. The convict element of Southern has been a lot of fun to play, but as an area, we will be slowly evolving into some new and exciting character opportunities as convicts are slowly phased out of the IC arena of Southern Weyr. Those with existing Convict characters will be allowed to play out their storylines into eventual release, but Southern will not accept new convict applications as we tie in some darker elements of the Hold with what we've got coming! So stay tuned and don't forget, we have a new area tp coming up that will bring some more, exciting opportunities for character creation!

Questions?! @send *sws! Keep a lookout for what new opportunities will come from this change! Also, this will tie in with the culmination of the upcoming Area Plot as Staff tries to unify the overall experience across the areas and align all of the different 'flavors' of Southern!
