==== The Storm hits the Weyr.

OOC Date 19th February 2018
Summary Storm vs. Southern!

The Announcement

The storm has come and gone! Almost the whole Weyr was involved in efforts to secure everything beforehand. Even so, there's going to be a huge amount of clearing up - not least because everything that was stored in the caverns will eventually need to go back to where it belongs. The entire dock area is still underwater, and there's a quantity of shattered rock in the Weyr bowl near the Hatching caverns.

As the wind and waves rose near the Docks, final efforts were made to clear the Seacrafters' building. Then a ship appeared, driven by the wind at high speed towards the stone jetty. Dragons and riders staged a daring attempt to prevent disaster, and managed to slow the ship - although it still crashed into the dock and sank, the crew were able to get to shore safely.

Half the Weyr spent an uncomfortable night in the Hatching Caverns, unable to get to their usual dwellings. Sadly, an elderly rider from Siberian passed away during the evening, and his green went Between. Like several others, K'dip had felt unwell during the rescue operations, but his death was unexpected. Perhaps the old man overdid it on the Docks? Anyway, he seems to be the Weyr's only victim of the storm, apart from minor injuries. Fortunately, the following day's fall is light and there is only one death; it's not until the next one that exhaustion really catches up with Southern's Wings.

OOC: Thanks to everyone who came along to our storm scenes! There are now plot pages on the wiki, a growing cast of adoptables (do talk to staff if you'd like to adopt one, or to pick up an NPC from the opening scenes), and logs. Please tag all plot-related logs with sw_byoa_storm. For now, there's lots of IC clearing up to do, and fallen rocks and flooded docks are prime targets for sightseeing. Sweepriders flying along the coast, the river, and in particular, over the Black Rock area, have been asked to look out for anyone injured or stranded by storm and flooding. Watch this space for further developments and RP ideas - coming soon!
