- Have fun!
- For this round, players are encouraged to get out there and chase some pirates! Feel free to find some abandoned ghost ships, hunt for clues, have run-ins and maybe get beat up!
- Riders: You'll be conducting overhead sweeps to check for pirate activity and responding to calls for help, but it always seems like you're a moment TOO SLOW. It'll be up to you to travel (and provide transport for others) to investigate pirate sightings. Additionally: Dragonriders with a nautical background will be taking turns going on smaller sailing vessels to aid in the hunt for pirates when they're exploring up river.
- Non-riders: Hunters and the like will be invaluable in searching the jungles for the pirates secret hideout spots. But BE CAREFUL there often isn't enough time for someone to come to your speedy rescue. Dragonriders can join in on the foot search too, just keep in mind, the flora is frequently too thick for your lifemate to come crashing through to save you! Additionally: The WLs have decreed that anyone out in the jungle also needs to have a guard with them.
- Ship Exploration: Things that can be discovered on the ghost ships includes (but is not limited to): game animals, firestone, valuable items, things that don't seem like they're worth anything AT ALL, nothing, letters, clues leading to something! If you have any questions or want some hints, page staff!
- We're planning on capturing some pirates this round! But please, if your scene looks as if it's leading that way or you're about to murder a pirate, page staff first!
- Lisette is your resident staff member to poke for an ST-scene if you want one and can't make the ones others might run! Or if you want to run your own scene, the sky's the limit! Grab some folks and run with an idea! If you have any questions about details or whatever please ask!
- Special: For pirate pcs:
- Check out your pirate ship TP room! Sail the seas, destroy some stuff. Missions can range from silly (boarding a ship and taking all its chicken cargo) to dramatic (overtaking a vessel and shanghai-ing its crew).
- Pirate PCs are naturally of the more gritty cast, please try to keep it within acceptable game limits (HT is R-rated) insofar as graphic violent, etc…

Pirates Characters
If you're interested in picking up any of these concepts, please @send *sws! More general concepts are included down below in the Crew section!
Inessa
Location: Azov Sea
Position: Crew Member
Birthplace: Ista Island
Played-by: Olga Fonda
Player: ADOPTED! Inessa
Inessa hails from a poor family that makes its living along a coastal trading route on Ista Island. Forced at an early age into an unwanted marriage, she's experienced the kind of abuse that no woman should ever have to suffer. After a particularly explosive encounter with her husband, she fled her home, leaving her family behind.
Through one misadventure after another and various dangerous encounters, she found herself sailing. An activity she wasn't unfamiliar with given her upbringing. Life on the seas isn't an easier for women than life on land. There are old wives tales and no shortage of men saying she's 'bad luck'. And Inessa is bad luck, to anyone that crosses her. Turns of difficult living have hardened her, made her ruthless and she's done things it's better not to speak of.
Gustaf
Location: Azov Sea
Position: Crew Member
Birthplace: Lemos
Played-by: Charles Michael Davis
Player: ADOPTED! Gustaf
Connections: Is known to Prymelia (page to query)
Built with the heft and hew of an oak tree, Gustaf (or Gus The Cuss as he’s known to his crewmates for his creative cursing) always seems to have an easy smile. But do not be fooled for behind that smile is a rapier sharp mind with the knife skills to back it up. Charming and arrogant he is well aware of how his klah-coloured skin, chocolate brown eyes and well maintained physique impacts on the ladies (and some men) and will shamelessly use this to his advantage.
Born the last son of tree-feller out of Lemos, it didn’t take him long to realize that life swinging an axe or wielding a heavy-duty saw, just wasn’t for him. It began with just a handful of jewellery lifted from a lady that took a shine to his dark looks at age seventeen. What he didn’t count on, was that this so-called lady, was anything but and was part of a roving band of misfits and thieves. They tracked him down and after hitting him over the head with a shovel, gave him two choices: Join them, or starting digging his own grave.
Gus chose the latter and soon proved to have an uncanny talent for gathering intel and conning one unsuspecting soul after another, opening the way for the rest of the band to sweep in and take whatever it was they were after. It wasn’t long before his path crossed with a disgraced former journeyman seacrafter with a ship of dubious origins in need of muscle to join his small but audacious crew.
Michelet
Location: Azov Sea
Position: Crew Member
Birthplace: Tillek Hold
Played-by: Nicholas Hoult
Player: Adoptable
It's obvious, Michelet has made a huge fucking mistake. He never wanted to be a pirate, he just wanted to pass his last journeyman's test. But he's never been the best at determining current rates when a sub-tropical storm is moving through. He doesn't even know what any of that means. Everyone cheats now and again, right? Right. It was just his bad luck that he got caught. He was really desperate for the marks when he met Bentley down at that trading outpost. This was just supposed to be a temporary gig! But now that he's been on board with the captain and the rest of his crew, he's not allowed to leave. It seems he's locked in for the duration of this voyage.
Iviano
Location: Azov Sea
Position: Crew Member
Birthplace: South of Nerat Hold
Played-by: Dev Patel
Player: ADOPTED! Iviano
Iviano was born into an extremely poor family in a fishing hold south of Nerat, he knows what it's like to fight for every scrap of bread that you get to eat. An only child, he was cast adrift when an exceptionally aggressive influenza swept through his community and took the lives of his parents. He survived by working on smaller vessels and by becoming a petty thief. Whether it's his open expression or engaging personality, he has developed a real talent for conning people.
He didn't join up with the crew of The Southern Cross voluntarily. Instead he's one of those unlucky individuals to have been shanghai'd when Captain Creighton took possession of a trading vessel. Rather than be tossed overboard, he joined reluctantly but has since found his place amongst the other pirates. He's used to go into more populated areas and scout ahead, gain confidences and find out what's worth making a run for. Sometimes he suffers guilt for his actions, but overall he's glad to have found a new family.
The Crew of the Southern Cross
CAPTAIN
Creighton - He's been a sailor for nearly forty turns and a pirate for most of them. A failed Seacraft journeyman he turned to the high seas with a crew of bandits and hasn't turned back since. He's sailed around Tillek and Ista, finally heading south sometime around the beginning of the Pass. Rumor has it that he and his first mate were the ones behind the original ghost ship appearances and that some tragic event is what cut their scheme short. Now they're at it again, but they're smarter now or braver. Or maybe just more brazen.
FIRST MATE
Bentley - ADOPTED! Bentley He's somewhere in his early thirties and has been sailing with the captain for the better part of ten years in one capacity or another. He first caught up with him around Ista and they sailed down to the Southern Continent together. He's wiley, handsome and ruthless. Some say he's the reason behind some of the crazier hijinks they've gotten up to.

A promise made, is a promise kept
A beach party gets interrupted by a bad case of the crazies.
After they run into each other in the middle of nowhere, Gus and Scrappy embark on a three (or four or five) day adventure of misery together. (Also, fun fact, there are only about 80 words of dialogue spoken in this entire scene.)
Violence. Profanity.
Gus finally catches up to Scrappy. Things go really badly. Like, no one gets killed, but seriously. This is the second worst case scenario.
Violence. Language.

It's the conclusion of BYOA: Pirates! And it's chaos. Really.
Violence. Cursing. Southern Weyr OOC banter. PS: I tried to get everyone, everywhere, if I missed you, I'm sorry. XD
A few days before the Big Score, Artolome takes over the Kitchens. He was never there.
Prym and Gus kinda-sorta confront each other about their respective thefts? Clem drops in for a bit and is awesomely catty. :D
Language. Wee bit o' violence.
El'ai is watching for pirates, Lisette is not as clever as she thinks she is.
Hannah encounters Gustaf, who manages to avoid being found out. (He's lucky she had a bag over her head!)
Catryn is studying the mysteries of black flags. T'zaim is his usual helpful self.
Ivivano doesn't do anything dastardly but be a perfectly STAND UP CITIZEN. Just what Renalde was looking for.
Bentley and Inessa share a strangely intimate moment. In spite of his best efforts, he doesn't get laid.
Language, discussion of murder, sexual undertones, etc. They're pirates, okay?
Lisette is recovering, Niklaas is waiting, and K'vvan has happened by. Talk of pirates naturally occurs.
Iviano and Artolome are 'chatting' before thieving Inessa crashes.
Iviano funnels a shipment, Kehm rages. Backdated to not long after Kehm came aboard.
A little graphic nature, swearing
Pirate and Weyr-teen meet on a deserted beach. One tries to make nice. The other, not so much.
Contains accidental groping.
Kehm is Scrappy'd or Scrappy is Kehm'd. It is a strange interlude between two unlikely people to breathe the same air.
Arianne's mother, Reba, stops by to give Hannah a little bit of much needed mothering.
The secrets Hannah keeps when the weyr's eyes are not upon her: dealing with the aftermath of her encounter with the pirates
Following hard on the heels of the pirates' big goof, Gus has to decide where to go next.
Some language.
Arianne sits with Lisette in the infirmary following the more-than-close encounter with the pirates.

It's not really a good idea to abduct dragonriders.
Violence, cursing. PS: Can I mention again how awesome everyone is? AWESOME.
Cha'el finds Ksenia dealing with Pirates. Understandably, the Weyrleader is beyond angry. But hey, someone gets a pouch of marks!
Definitely R-rated.
Another ship, the Ista Azure, has gone missing. Marauders large and small are discussed.
The two captives, one of them willing, meet on deck and discuss their predicaments.
Is the devil you know really better than the one you don't? Gustaf exacts revenge against Prymelia for being a thieving stealer.
Two of Serval's finest go looking for trouble; the conversation, at least, is a success of that goal. But so is their find!
Nika and Rocio have a close encounter of the pirate kind.
Colt is probably trying to escape, something. With a bunch of life stock. He doesn't really get very far before the crew of the Southern Cross takes him.
A lot of cursing.
Here there be pirates.
Rated Arrrrrr.
Lisette and T'ral are keeping track of pirate sightings and trying to triangulate a location.
Sammael hunts Bailey down to give her the information he pilfered from the pirates. More secrets slip than intended, and two worlds collide.
Ulrik chases after Sammael following his explosive exit from the 'Kitten to find out what happened. A vow is made.
language, violence
Prymelia's past comes to bite her in the ass (Follows on from Cockle Warming)
Some violence

Some violence.
Nate and Dexy go exploring. And almost get caught by pirates.
Rocio happens upon Ulrik who seems to be lurking along the riverbank for no particular reason.
Kehm survives his first act of piracy and gets a little bonding time with his sister.
On the trail of pirates. The Serval crew turn up more than they bargained for!

Cha’el and Hannah discuss the troubling wreck that lies on the banks of the river as well as things of a more personal matter.
