What is a Weyrwoman's Assistant?
A Weyrwoman's Assistant is someone who serves a Jr/Sr Weyrwoman. This is more of a role rather than a rank, and why the "role" on the knotchart doesn't really exist within the current ranklist of the weyr. Think of the Weyrwoman's Assistant as an executive secretary — they have the "power" to execute the Jr/Sr Weyrwoman's orders on behalf of the Weyrwoman, so members of the weyr need to respect that they represent the Weyrwoman they assist. However, when it comes to /actual/ rank within the weyr, they fall in the same rank as the "Assistant Headwomen/Headmen". On their own, on their "time off", they cannot "order around" a wingleader or weyrsecond, however, one should always remember that they have the ear of the Weyrwomen they serve. So it's wise to show 'respect'. In that sense they differ from the Assistant Headwomen/Headmen.

This chart is meant to exist to help players navigate against other roles that might be in play — whether NPC or PC — but does not mean that all roles will be filled. In the case of the Assistant to the J/Sr. Weyrwoman, there may not exist someone in that role until a PC expresses interest. Some roles, ie the Guard Captain, might be NPC only so as to allow Staff to direct the flow of a story plot. The chart is not a cemented structure of all the ranks a weyr/area must have, but to showcase how they correspond to each other when a weyr/area does have them.
